Kite Modeling for Higher Altitude Wind Energy  [PDF]

Abstract:

Among the renewable energy sources, high altitude wind power is gaining increased attention for its better strength, steadiness, and coverage compared to the traditional ground-based wind power with wind turbines. However, unlike the latter, the technology for high altitude wind is still immature and the works on the field are mostly empirical. In our research, we try to set up a framework about force analysis and provide a stepping stone for other kite energy researchers and engineers to develop more efficient systems. In this paper, we analyzed and experimentally verified the effects of acting aerodynamic forces at different angles of attack ranging from 0° to 90°. We also studied the power potentials of a kite corresponding to these varying forces. The work will enable a researcher or engineer to design a more feasible and more efficient kite power system with better understanding of the kite dynamics.


Predicting the Growth in Tree Height for Building Sunshine in Residential District  [PDF]

Abstract: Residential greening constitutes a significant portion of the urban environment. Trees, as the largest entities in the tree-shrub-herb greening system, are the best choice for residential afforestation. Hence, tree arrangement in green space between buildings is significant, for which may exert negative impact on building sunshine. This study takes He Qingyuan residential area in Beijing as a case study to predict the growth in tree height between buildings to meet good sunshine requirements. The procedures were draw as follows: 1) models including building layout and trees were built using computer-aided design (Auto CAD). Afterwards, according to tree crown shape, tree height limits were determined for the same building layout; 2) and after that, the growth in tree height was predicted using the nonlinear height-diameter functions to meet the good sunshine requirements. The results allow us to determine which trees to plant between buildings in that the designers can predict the effects of future tree growth on building sunshine.
Spatial Analysis of Location-Based Social Networks in Seoul, Korea  [PDF]

Abstract: The purpose of this study is to analyze the spatial patterns of location-based social network (LBSN) data in Seoul using the spatial analysis techniques of geographic information system (GIS). The study explores the applications of LBSN data by analyzing the association between Seoul’s Foursquare venues data created based on user participation and the city’s characteristics. The data regarding Foursquare venues were compiled with a program we created based on Foursquare’s Python API. The compiled information was converted into GIS data, which in turn was depicted as a heat map. Cluster analysis was then performed based on hotspots and the correlation with census variables was analyzed for each administrative unit using geographically weighted regression (GWR). Based on analytical results, we were able to identify venue clusters around city centers, as well as differences in hotspots for various venue categories and correlations with census variables.

Abstract: Emotion regulation has become a hot research topic in psychological research in recent years; this study reviewed the research on emotion regulation strategies in the last ten years, and the previous research focused on introducing a new concept of regulation strategy-reception strategy, and to explore the similarities and differences between the emotional response and the neural mechanism of cognitive assessment and the expression of inhibitory strategies. It was found that cognitive assessment could reduce the emotional experience, reduce the activation of the physiological response and sympathetic nervous system, and decrease the level of activation of the amygdala; while the inhibition of expression was able to reduce emotional behavior, but the physiological response and sympathetic nervous system activation was enhanced, and the level of activation of the amygdala did not decrease; at the same time, it was a kind of emotion regulation strategy between cognitive reappraisal and expression inhibition, the regulation effect of the emotion was better than that of the expression inhibition, but less than the cognitive reappraisal, in the neural mechanism, the three common brain areas.

Abstract: Agricultural economy is a measure of a country or region. An important indicator of the agricultural development determines the development of the region, including agricultural farming, forestry, animal husbandry and fishery. Agriculture research influence of various factors on the agricultural economy of the present study has important basis. The main object of this study is to explore the factors that influence the development and direction of local agricultural logistics. Shanghai agricultural development study is the use of SPSS software analysis. Four main factors affect agriculture in Shanghai independent sample hypothesis testing. You can analyze the data which are obtained by the presence of significant differences between the samples. This paper puts forward the correlation analysis of agricultural economy; it presents the reliability of recommendations to develop agricultural logistics. The authors consider that we should be in control of agricultural development in Shanghai. We need to develop agriculture and aquatic products logistics, which is the primary task of development in Shanghai today.

Abstract: Tianjin is an integral and important city in China. Tianjin’s development influences China’s development. In today’s society, the coordinated development of Beijing and Tianjin has become a key consideration. It is also a goal we should strive; therefore, the development of Tianjin is one of the focuses of our study. This paper uses SPSS analysis. The data include agricultural output, the number of enterprises, logistics and transport. This paper studies the main factors in Tianjin, and we use the method of principal component analysis. Agriculture and heavy industry are quite developed in Tianjin. The paper also studies the common development of Tianjin. We concluded that we cannot ignore the simultaneous development of agriculture and heavy industry. In addition, we also study the Tianjin’s logistics transportation equipment. We have come to the main road and rail transportation equipment. Finally, we do a short-term forecast on the amount of goods, which proves the feasibility of SPSS analysis.
Survival Analysis for a Breast Cancer Data Set  [PDF]

Abstract: A survival analysis on a data set of 295 early breast cancer patients is performed in this study. A new proportional hazards model, hypertabastic model was applied in the survival analysis. We assume a proportional hazards model, and select two sets of risk factors for death and metastasis for breast cancer patients respectively by using standard variable selection methods. To evaluate the performance of the new model and compare it with other popular distributions, Cox, Weibull and log-logistic models were fitted to the data besides the hypertabastic model. Result shows that the hypertabastic proportional hazards model outperformed all the comparison models and provided the best fit for the breast cancer data. In addition, we observed that the gene expression variable, wound response signature, combined with other clinical variables, can provide an effective model to predict the overall survival and hazard rate for breast cancer patients.

Abstract: Financial support for the development of cultural industry is the policy guidance of Chinese governments at all levels recently, while the cultural financial support policy appeared under the circumstances. The purpose of the policy is to accelerate the development of cultural enterprises by using financial instruments, through speeding up the matching process of financial capital and cultural enterprises’ financial service requirements. This paper analyzes the background of the policy which supports the development of cultural industry, investigates the present situation of how financial institutions support cultural industry, and finally promotes the feasible path for financial institutions to engaging in cultural industry by financial support policies.

Abstract: China’s foreign trade volume is growing due to the increasingly globalized economy and the improvement in China’s international status. With China’s accession to the WTO and the rapid expansion of foreign economic and trade and economic rise, technical barriers to trade are widely used as a measure. In recent years, many Chinese export enterprises have encountered some of the world’s major developed countries. The impact of TBT reaches the ultra-billion dollars each year. Therefore, this paper focuses on the impact on technical trade barriers (TBT) on China’s export trade, from the perspective of government and enterprises to study countermeasures. Technical barrier to trade is a trade import control. It has a duality, broadness, compliance and hidden. China is affected by internal and external causes. External causes are the protection for national interests, trade barriers, and so on. Internal factors are China’s trade pattern, industrial pattern imbalance and export order disorder. For these reasons, the government should establish a good system mechanism and the enterprises should improve product quality.
