COMPORTAMIENTO DE LA FUNCIóN VENTRICULAR POR ECOCARDIOGRAFíA EN PACIENTES CON INFARTO AGUDO DE MIOCARDIO / Behavior of the ventricular function by echocardiography in patients with acute myocardial infarction
Leonel Hernández Cruz
CorSalud , 2009,
Abstract: An observational descriptive study was carried out with the aim of knowing the behavior of the ventricular function by bidimensional echocardiography, calculating the ejection fraction of the leftventricle in acute myocardial infarction patients who were treated or not with Cuban recombinant streptokinase. The universe was formed by 102 patients with the above mentioned diagnosis who underwent a bidimensional echocardiography by means of which the ejection fraction of the left ventricle was determined. The anterior infarctions predominated. The ejection fraction of the leftventricle was higher in those patients who received thrombolytic treatment independently from the topographic localization of the infarction. The average time for the implementation of thethrombolytic treatment was always less than 6 hours, although, without showing a statistical difference, the anterior infarctions received treatment an average of 35 minutes earlier than theinferior infarctions.
Cruz-Hernández,Manuel;
Educación Médica , 2004, DOI: 10.4321/S1575-18132004000600008
Abstract: a pressing issue in paediatric education is to improve patient-paediatrician and family relationships (ppfr). this paper highlights the following aspects: promoting the connection between paediatricians and patient/family organizations; improving the information system, from the moment of the first contact with the family: eliminating barriers to allow parents to accompany admitted children at all times; and encouraging parents to play a more active role in their children’s in-patient care. hospitalization should be as short as possible. hospital schools should be established, and those already existing should be improved, given their important psychological and educational role. ppfr must be improved at all levels of paediatric education, stressing its importance at undergraduate level, exploring the subject in detail in postgraduate training, and performing periodic concept reviews in continuing education. however, ppfr can be impaired as a result of staff shortages or insufficient diagnostic and therapeutic means. a motivated health team contributes to promote a truly humanistic climate for the patient and family. efficient organization is essential, since lack of time, repeated delays or defective archives may undermine the best intentions. in the teamwork setting, the staff in charge of the patient must be appointed promptly and must take responsibility for providing information. patient’s age (toddler, children or adolescent), the relationship of the family member (parent, grand-parent, or other), and the social, cultural and religious background are all variables that should be taken into account. the media have a great impact: newspapers, radio, television and internet may have an unwanted effect if the family receives incomplete or incorrect information. staff should be aware of the dangers of this media information. to achieve appropriate ppfr in these changing times, the paediatrician’s professional and human profile needs to bear in mind the variability

A pressing i
A First Principles Density Functional Study of Au Deposition on TiN (001) Surface
Norge Cruz Hernández,Javier Fdez. Sanz
International Journal of Molecular Sciences , 2001, DOI: 10.3390/i2050263
Abstract: The structure and local electron properties of Au atoms deposited on the TiN (001) surface has been theoretically analyzed using a periodic slab model and density functional based calculations. The surface is described by means of a 2x2 cell five layers thick, on which gold atoms are added. Deposition of single atoms on the surface, (θ = 0.25 ML), shows that the preferred site is on-top of Ti atoms, with a metal-surface distance of 2.49 ?. The computed adsorption energy for this site is -1.92 eV, only slightly lower than that lying between two Ti surface atoms (-1.90 eV). The on-top nitrogen sites are less favorable by about 0.4 eV. The calculations were carried out using the Perdew-Wang 91 exchange correlation functional and ultra soft pseudopotentials, with electronic states represented by a plane-wave expansion.

Journal of Agricultural Chemistry and Environment (JACEN) , 2014, DOI: 10.4236/jacen.2014.31002
Abstract: The genus Tagetes is a possible source of essential oils for the biorational control of pests and diseases in Mexico. The aim of the present study was to assess the distance between plants (PD; 15 × 80, 30 × 80 and 60 × 80 cm) and urea fertilization (0, 60 and 120 kg·he-1 N) for biomass production and essential oil in Tagetes terniflora HBK. Oil was obtained by the aerial part hydro-distillation and its chemical composition was analyzed by gas chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry. Factors N, PD and their interaction did not change plant height or the number of branches per plant; however, PD factor modified fresh tissue (FW) and dry tissue (DW) weights and the amount of oil per plant (p ≤ 0.05) which represent a good biomass production (30 to 72.5 ton·he-1 FW, 11 to 27 ton·he-1 DW) and oil producing (168 to 383 L·he-1 ) potential in the field. Urea did not have effect on both biomass and oil response per plant but interaction of 15 x 80 DP and 120 N could favor higher biomass and oil production potential (78 ton FW, 28 ton·he-1 DW and 608 L·he-1 , respectively). Essential oil yield varied from 0.3 to 2.1% according to the management conditions. A total of 11 major compounds were identified in essential oil, the relative quantity was constant in different agronomic management factors: E- tagetone (22%), cistagetenone (20.4%), transtagetenone (20.4%), dihydrotagetone (13.4%) and cis-β-ocimene (10.3%), trans-β-ocimene (5.0%), propenyl anisole (4.3%), sphatulenole (1.1%), allyl anisole (0.7%), Z-tagetone (0.5%) and limonene (0.5%).
