Advances in Materials Physics and Chemistry (AMPC) , 2015, DOI: 10.4236/ampc.2015.59035
Abstract: The aim of this study was to evaluate the bond strength of orthodontic brackets bonded to tooth enamel with different polymer composites after simulated clinical aging, and analyze the enamel/ bond system fracture interface. 80 human premolars, were randomly divided into five groups (n = 16). G1: CO (Concise Ortodontica—3M ESPE), G2: SB (SuperBond—Ortho Source), G3: FMO (Fill Magic OrtodonticoVigodent), G4: TXT (Transbond XT—3M ESPE) and G5: TP (Transbond Plus Self Etching Primer + Transbond Plus Color Change—3M ESPE). In all groups, the metal orthodontic bracket was bonded to the tooth enamel surface. The specimens were submitted to 3000 thermal cycling baths for 30 s, at temperatures of 5°C, 37°C and 55°C (±1°C). Afterwards they were subjected to shear testing and the results were analyzed by the Student’s-t test (p < 0.05). G1 presented the highest bond strength value, followed by G4 > G5 > G2 > G3. In all groups the majority of the fractures at the interface of the specimens were cohesive, except in G3, which presented the largest number of adhesive fractures. After clinical aging, the chemically activated material (CO) showed higher bond strength than the light activated types (FMO, TXT and TP). The self-etching adhesive system (TP) showed similar bond strength to that of conventional systems (FMO and TXT).

Abstract: based on the premise that the practical dimension must be considered in the initial training of teachers, we understand that curricular training, if well founded, structured and oriented, is relevant to the curricular outlook of the practical training process for future teachers. this article presents some reflections and discussions, stemming from a qualitative investigation, about the importance of the role of curricular training in the practical preparation of the students. the subjects of this research are students who have finished the teacher training course at the university of paraíba valley (univap). based on the interpretation of different authors (lima, 2001; tardif, 2002; pimenta, 2001; gómez, 2000), we understand practice as praxis, since, in being permeated by a process of reflection, it can be constructed and reconstructed, with a view of transforming the school. thus we see the practical learning considered to have been achieved during the training in the reports presented and in the students' discourse. we analyze the data collected, in the light of the theory studied on the practical and professional training of teachers. we identify the favorable and unfavorable aspects of practical curricular training from the space/time point of view, which is also intended to promote practical knowledge in teacher training. finally, we propose new perspectives for the orientation and execution of practical curricular training of teachers, centered on the relevance of practical training and on the articulation of all the disciplines on the training course.

Abstract: a new kind of thermo-responsive particles were prepared by the self-assembly technique, comprising poly(hydroxyvalerate-co-hydroxybutirate)-b-poly(n-isopropylacrylamide)/ (phbhv-b-pnipaam) block copolymers. the hydrophilic part pnipaam was synthesized by reversible addition- fragmentation chain transfer (raft) polymerization. particles with core-shell morphology were obtained with hydrophilic outer shells and hydrophobic inner cores. dexametasone acetate (dexac) was used as a model drug with an encapsulation efficiency of 77%. the release of dexac in aqueous solution was strongly dependent on temperature, suggesting that phbhv-b-pnipaam particles can be used as a thermo-responsive carrier material with external control in a drug release system.

Environmental Health , 2005, DOI: 10.1186/1476-069x-4-9
Abstract: Eight-week-old animals were subcutaneously injected daily with a dose of ca 8 μmol of Cr/mouse, during 5 days. The control group was injected with 0.5 mL of BT buffer. Testis and epididymis morphology was evaluated using light and transmission electron microscopy. Epididymal sperm counts, motility and acrosome integrity were also assayed using standard methods.Seminiferous epithelium abnormalities were detected in the CrV-BT experimental group, including intraepithelial vacuolation, and remarkable degeneration of Sertoli cells, spermatocytes and spermatids. The premature release of germ cells into the tubular lumen was also evident. Histological evaluation of epididymal compartments revealed apparently normal features. However, the epididymal epithelium presented vacuolation. [CrV-BT]2- induced a reduction in sperm acrosome integrity. However, sperm motility and density were not significantly affected. This in vivo study using a Cr(V) compound, provides evidence for the potential reproductive hazards caused on male reproductive system by species containing chromium in intermediate oxidation states.Cr(VI) compounds have been declared potent occupational carcinogens by IARC [1]. Although the first report on the development of lung cancer in the chrome ore industry appeared ca 80 years ago [2], several epidemiological studies among workers of almost one hundred different professional categories (chrome plating, stainless-steel welding, pigment and leather tanning) were published since [3-5]. Numerous and different in vitro and/or in vivo studies have been undertaken either in animals or in humans and today it is known that there is a close relationship between workers health and the amounts of industrial pollution provoked by industries manufacturing chromium containing materials [1,6,7].Cytotoxicity and carcinogenicity of Cr(VI) depend on intracellular reduction towards stable and inert Cr(III) compounds [8,9]. During this process Cr(V) and Cr(IV) intermediate states h

Abstract: Lectin Cramoll-1,4, obtained from Cratylia mollis seeds (beans camaratu) was structurally characterized, biologically and pharmacologically, but its use as a biopharmaceutical is not well documented. The objective of this study is to propose a biopharmaceutical formulation lectin Cramoll-1,4, test their hemagglutinating properties in vitro as well as the use of gamma radiation as a continuous process of decontamination formulation. It was made of the extraction and purification Cramoll-1,4, was developed a gel formulation using Carbopol? as a vehicle, at concentrations of 50, 100, 200, 300 and 600 μg was irradiated with 60Co gamma rays in a dose of 7.549 kGy·h–1. The proposed formulation at a concentration of 300 μg produced an increase in the hemagglutinating units Cramoll-1,4 due to the synergistic effect caused by gamma radiation. Considering the diverse use of lectins, specific molecular and structural factors, as well as changes resulting from its formulation, concentration, irradiation and route of administration is of utmost importance to continue the studies in vitro, for subsequent application in vivo to characterize the physiological and molecular processes involved in the response and cellular effects.

In this work, we review some of the literature that deals with the relevance of the transparency of financial information disclosed by firms whose stock is traded on regulated financial markets located in the European Union. From this review it is agreed that the transparency of financial reports is becoming an increasingly important question since the internationalization of firms and globalization of markets are becoming stronger. These situations affect capital flow and the development of financial markets. Directive 2004/109/CE of the European Parliament and Council, issue on 15th December 2004, shows the preoccupation of European Members about the use the of criteria for transparency, namely in following the 2003/34/CE Directive, related with the Prospectus, in the case of firms that have issued stock. The importance of transparency also increases with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.
