Abstract: The elderly people’s autonomy project has been achieved in UNIVALI with goal to promote a favorable environment to the development of the participants, increasing the elderly people’s autonomy. The union of interests concerning to health, law, citzenship, communication, culture and present, joined to elderly people incentives in order to take part that context, became it viable to live with this autonomy of a constructive way. Leading to this end, there was the necessary widening of the project’s elements sensitivity as well the grade of elderly people’s confidence themselves in order to characterize the achievement and the evolution of autonomy, becoming them possible and appropriate to the group. Key words: Aging, autonomy, group, health.

Abstract: in the end of 19th century, the venezuelan public health system was in the hands of religious women who ran the public health facilities. a new educational model would produce professional nurses who came to rise the standards of their occupation. undoubtedly, this objective could not be properly met due to the candidates' low educational level and the need of a health service that searched for more economical means to face its demands with trained personnel but without real educational improvements. another hindrance was the resistance of traditional medicine, which prevented a view of health as a whole, which comprehends social and preventive aspects. it was rather difficult for the founders of nursing schools to make public health facilities develop health orientation.

Abstract: recently there has been a growing awareness of the role of intellectual property rights as a growth factor. this article aims to examine the changes in the notion of intellectual property rights as scientific and other forms of communication have evolved. the main objective is to offer a panoramic view of the current tensions and contradictions between the actors involved in the problem of intellectual property and in the handling of related information. on the one hand, there is the scientific community, that has seen its rights affected; on the other, the editors or publishers, who see their profit margins threatened, as they begin to lose their control and exclusivity in the publication and dissemination of information. finally, the readers are beginning to fulfill a different role, where an active participation begins to influence the process.

Abstract: Introduction: Following the 2008 WHO in-vitro malaria RDT product testing study results, Paracheck RDT’s sensitivity was revealed to significantly drop to 55% at low parasite densities. This raised concerns among health workers on its diagnostic capabilities and possible public health implications resulting from its continued use? We therefore evaluated the diagnostic performance of Paracheck and SD Bioline (a yet to be evaluated kit) RDTs under operational settings in areas of different endemicity. Methods: Using an analytic cross-sectional study design, finger prick blood samples from 422 clinically diagnosed patients selected from Mudzi (high malaria burden) and Murewa (low malaria burden) districts were each tested for malaria using Paracheck and SD Bioline RDTs and Giemsa stain microscopy as gold standard. Parasitemias were calculated using WHO standard protocols. Main outcomes were test efficiency; sensitivity; specificity; PVP and NPV. Re-sults: Of eligible 390 blood slides prepared, microscopy detected malaria parasites in 125 (32.1%) with P. falciparum being predominant species (100%). Compared with microscopy, both Paracheck and SD Bioline RDTs performed fairly equally well and above WHO targets in Mudzi (high malaria burden), while in Murewa (low malaria burden) Paracheck and SD Bioline RDTs had sensitivities of 86.7% [69.5 - 100.0] and 86.7% [86.7 - 100.0]; specificities of 97.2% [94.1 - 100.0] and 90.7% [85.3 - 96.2]; test efficiencies of 95.9% [92.4 - 99.4] and 90.2% [85.0 - 95.5]; PVPs of 73.3% and 45.2%; and NPVs of 98.8% and 98.7% respectively. Sensitivities for Paracheck and SD Bioline RDTs reduced from 99.2% [97.7 - 100.0] at parasitemias above 1000/μl each to 33.3% [0.0 - 71.1] and 50.0% [10.0 - 90.0] respectively at parasitemias below 1000/μl with variations not statistically significant. Conclusion: Paracheck RDT remains the MOHCC’s preferred diagnostic alternative in areas where good quality microscopy is not available in Zimbabwe. SD Bioline RDT provides another diagnostic alternative especially in areas of high malaria burden. However performance of both kits at parasitemias below 1000/μl needs further investigation.
Berry Phase in the Gravitational Quantum Well and the Seiberg-Witten map

Physics , 2006, DOI: 10.1016/j.physleta.2008.06.073
Abstract: We explicitly compute the geometrical Berry phase for the noncommutative gravitational quantum well for different SW maps. We find that they lead to different partial contributions to the Berry phase. For the most general map we obtain that $\Delta\gamma(S)\sim{\eta}^3$, in a segment S of the path in the configuration space where $\sqrt{\eta}$ is the fundamental momentum scale for the noncommutative gravitational quantum well. For the full closed path, we find, through an explicit computation, that $\gamma(C)=0$. This result is consistent with the fact that physical properties are independent of the SW map and shows that these maps do not introduce degeneracies or level crossing in the noncommutative extensions of the gravitational quantum well.

Abstract: The recent entrepreneurship research agenda includes the analysis of cognitive structures of successful entrepreneurs, revealing an important tool for the examination of an entrepreneurial career. Using techniques of cognitive maps, this study explores the concepts of a successful career and the network itself, as a whole, for career development. Fifty-three entrepreneurs were studied, in seven technological incubators in the city of Recife, Pernambuco, Brazil. Specifically, this study aimed to map the shared meanings of the incubated entrepreneurs regarding informal support networks. Such networks support the entrepreneurial career and the present study explores the characteristics and the conceptual model that underlies the networks. The data collection was achieved through interviews through a free evocation technique. The shared meanings indicate the existence of inherent thought categories that support network context in the incubator environment, mainly the mentoring networks. The results endorse the interpretation of an informal mentoring model emerging from the dominant evocations concerning a successful career and of the network itself as promoter of career development.
