Complete chloroplast genome sequence of Magnolia grandiflora and comparative analysis with related species

Abstract: Magnolia grandiflora is an important medicinal, ornamental and horticultural plant species. The chloroplast (cp) genome of M. grandiflora was sequenced using a 454 sequencing platform and the genome structure was compared with other related species. The complete cp genome of M. grandiflora was 159623 bp in length and contained a pair of inverted repeats (IR) of 26563 bp separated by large and small single copy (LSC, SSC) regions of 87757 and 18740 bp, respectively. A total of 129 genes were successfully annotated, 18 of which included introns. The identity, number and GC content of M. grandiflora cp genes were similar to those of other Magnoliaceae species genomes. Analysis revealed 218 simple sequence repeat (SSR) loci, most composed of A or T, contributing to a bias in base composition. The types and abundances of repeat units in Magnoliaceae species were relatively conserved and these loci will be useful for developing M. grandiflora cp genome vectors. In addition, results indicated that the cp genome size in Magnoliaceae species and the position of the IR border were closely related to the length of the ycf1 gene. Phylogenetic analyses based on 66 shared genes from 30 species using maximum parsimony (MP) and maximum likelihood (ML) methods provided strong support for the phylogenetic position of Magnolia. The availability of the complete cp genome sequence of M. grandiflora provides valuable information for breeding of desirable varieties, cp genetic engineering, developing useful molecular markers and phylogenetic analyses in Magnoliaceae.

Abstract: 在含有0.2 mol.L-1苯胺的0.5 mol.L-1H2SO4溶液中,以扫描速度50 mV.s-1,扫描电位为-0.1~0.9 V,采用循环伏安法(CV),在金属Ti基体上,通过控制扫描方式分别得到了颗粒状、纤维状及管-片状的苯胺聚合产物,分析了形成不同形貌聚苯胺的原因,并通过扫描电子显微镜(SEM)、循环伏安法和电化学阻抗谱(EIS)对不同形貌聚苯胺的结构和性能进行了表征.结果表明,不同形貌聚苯胺的形成是由于聚苯胺的成核及生长模式不同,而无论何种形貌的聚苯胺膜都具有很大的比表面积和良好的导电性能,其中,管-片状聚苯胺的膜层阻抗最小,导电性能最好.
Structured Development Environment Based on the Object-Oriented Concepts

Abstract: The object-oriented software development is a kind of promising software methodology and leading to a wholly new way for solving problems.In the research on the rapid construction of Structured Development Environment(SDE)that supports detailed design and coding in software development,a generator that can generate the SE has been applied as a metatool.The kernel of SDE is a syntax-directed editor based on the object-oriented concepts.The key issue in the design of SDE is how to represent the elements of target language with the class concept and a program internally.In this paper,the key concepts and design of the SDE and its generator as well as the implementation of a prototype are to be discussed.
Evidence for Retrogene Origins of the Prion Gene Family

Abstract: The evolutionary origin of prion genes, only known to exist in the vertebrate lineage, had remained elusive until recently. Following a lead from interactome investigations of the murine prion protein, our previous bioinformatic analyses revealed the evolutionary descent of prion genes from an ancestral ZIP metal ion transporter. However, the molecular mechanism of evolution remained unexplored. Here we present a computational investigation of this question based on sequence, intron-exon, synteny and pseudogene analyses. Our data suggest that during the emergence of metazoa, a cysteine-flanked core domain was modularly inserted, or arose de novo, in a preexisting ZIP ancestor gene to generate a prion-like ectodomain in a subbranch of ZIP genes. Approximately a half-billion years later, a genomic insertion of a spliced transcript coding for such a prion-like ZIP ectodomain may have created the prion founder gene. We document that similar genomic insertions involving ZIP transcripts, and probably relying on retropositional elements, have indeed occurred more than once throughout evolution.

Abstract: The non-functional QoS (quality of service) information helps us to select a proper Web-service from the web applications, by using component services such as UDDI[1](Universal Description, Discovery, and Integration) and MDS(Monitoring and Discovery System). MDS is a suite of web services to monitor and discover resources and service on Grids, but MDS only based on function aspects. This paper studies on an approach to provide the QoS information and a discovery model by using MDS and gives a system deployment and implementation plan. The simulation results show that the method is effective in service discovery.

Evaluation of Medical College Students’ Entrepreneurial Skills and Its Relationship with Social Intelligence  [PDF]

Abstract: Social intelligence and entrepreneurial skills are important factors influencing individual academic performance and career development. Studies have shown that people with high social intelligence have the ability to understand and manage others and have an advantage in innovation. The entrepreneurial personality trait is precisely the courage to innovate. Therefore, there is a close relationship between entrepreneurship and social intelligence. In this study, the author explores the relationship between students’ social intelligence level and entrepreneurial skills based on medical college students. This study used a cross-sectional descriptive method for related research. The results showed that the overall scores of the entrepreneurial skills assessment criteria of the students were lower. This shows that students’ performance levels of entrepreneurial skills are relatively weak. This result shows that we need to further improve the entrepreneurial skills of medical university students and take the necessary measures to improve students’ social intelligence.
Optimal Scheduling Strategy for Energy Consumption Minimization of Hydro-Thermal Power Systems  [PDF]

Abstract: A comparison analysis based method for computing the water consumption volume needed for electric energy production of optimal scheduling in hydro-thermal power systems is presented in this paper. The electric energy produced by hydroelectric plants and coal-fired plants is divided into 4 components: potential energy, kinetic energy, water-deep pressure energy and reservoir energy. A new and important concept, reservoir energy, is proposed, based on which is divided into a number of water bodies, for example 3 water bodies, and a reservoir is analyzed in a new way. This paper presents an optimal scheduling solution of elec-tric energy production of hydro-thermal power systems based on multi-factors analytic method, in which some important factors, such as load demand, reservoir in-flow, water consumption volume increment rate of hydroelectric plants or converted from coal-fired plants, and so on are given to model the objective function and the constraints. A study example with three simulation cases is carried out to illustrate flexibility, adapta-bility, applicability of the proposed method.
