A Study on Maximization Paradox and Its Psychological Origin  [PDF]
Hao Ding, Aimei Li
Psychology (PSYCH) , 2018, DOI: 10.4236/psych.2018.94050
Abstract: Compared with satisficers, maximizers intend to pursue optimal results, leading to more negative emotions and worse experience. Even when they do get a better result, they are still less satisfied. We call it “maximization paradox”. Theoretically, the purpose of this study is to enrich and deepen research in fields of the maximization paradox and its psychological origin. What’s more, we intend to provide feasible advice for corporations and the government on the basis of our findings. By reviewing existing literatures, we find that the psychological origin of this paradox includes three aspects: the uncertainty of their optimal standards, their behavioral strategies to search and compare excessively, and more cognitive biases such as expectation biases and focusing biases. These conclusions help us to better understand the maximizing tendency and make relevant suggestions for decision-makers.

Journal of Power and Energy Engineering (JPEE) , 2018, DOI: 10.4236/jpee.2018.66004
Abstract: As an important aspect for the survival and development of human society, energy is an important factor that restricts the economic and social development of a country. This paper measured the green energy efficiency of thirty provinces of China from 2000 to 2016 by using the Super-SBM, introducing it to the spatial economic model to study the convergence of green energy efficiency. The results show that: the overall green energy efficiency of China shows a downward trend with time, and it gradually decreases from east to west. The three regions have significant differences. Among them, there is no β absolute convergence trend for the eastern, central, western regions and the country as a whole, but there is β relative convergence. The level of economic development, R & D investment, the level of technology improvement, and foreign direct investment have positive effects on the development of green energy efficiency. The industrial structure has a positive effect in the eastern but a negative effect in the western.

International Journal of Clinical Medicine (IJCM) , 2019, DOI: 10.4236/ijcm.2019.103012
Abstract: Purpose: Analyzing the causes of pain after tension-free repair in the inguinal hernia, and propose corresponding treatment strategies. Results: The patients in this group were followed up for 3 - 12 months. A total of 5 patients still had pain relief within 3 months after surgery. Further treatment was needed, and the incidence rate was 5%. Conclusion: Skilled surgical procedures are performed in patients with local anesthesia, and some of the absorbable repair materials can be used. The improved patch fixation and extra peritoneal repair can reduce the pain after inguinal hernia repair without tension.

Abstract: Background: Isolated systolic hypertension (ISH) is a common disease in elderly people, threatening their health. Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) treatment or integrative treatment had advantages in improving quality of life and protecting target organs, but need to be proved by large evidence-based researches. Objective: To observe the effects of TCM treatment (Jiangya Capsule) or integrative treatment (combination of Jiangya Capsule and nimodipine) on blood pressure and vasoactive agents, and their safety in elderly ISH patients.Design, setting, participants and interventions: A multicenter, randomized, double-blind controlled trial was adopted. A total of 270 elderly ISH patients recruited from Xiyuan Hospital, and TCM Hospital and Community Health Service Centers of Yanqing County of Beijing were randomly divided into 3 groups: TCM group (Jiangya Capsule plus nimodipine simulation, 90 cases), integrative group (Jiangya Capsule plus nimodipine, 90 cases) and Western medicine (WM) group (nimodipine plus Jiangya Capsule simulation, 90 cases). They were all treated for 4 weeks.Main outcome measures: Before and after 4-week treatment, office blood pressure, 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure, serum nitric oxide (NO), and plasma endothelin-1 (ET-1), thromboxane B2 (TXB2) and 6-keto-prostaglandin 1α (6-keto-PGF1α) were detected, and safety evaluation was conducted. Results: After 4-week treatment, 5 patients in TCM group were lost to follow-up and another 5 patients were excluded, and 80 patients finished the trial; 7 patients in integrative group were lost to follow-up and another 7 patients were excluded, and 76 patients finished the trial; 2 patients in WM group were lost to follow-up and another 3 patients were excluded, and 85 patients finished the trial. After treatment, systolic blood pressure (SBP) decreased in each group (P<0.05), and integrative treatment was superior to TCM or WM treatment in decreasing SBP (P<0.05). Twenty-four hour average SBP and day average SBP decreased significantly in each group, and night average SBP decreased in integrative group, and integrative treatment was superior to TCM or WM treatment in decreasing day average SBP. Serum NO and plasma 6-keto-PGF1α levels were elevated and plasma ET-1 and TXB2 levels were reduced after treatment, and integrative treatment was superior to TCM or WM treatment in reducing plasma TXB2 level. Conclusion: TCM treatment or integrative treatment has affirmative effects and safety in treating elderly ISH patients, and integrative treatment has superiority in improving some indexes, and dese

Zhong Xi Yi Jie He Xue Bao , 2008,
Abstract: Objective:To observe the effect and explore the mechanism of Huannao Yicong capsule in treating senile patients with mild cognitive impairment (MCI).Methods:The investigational drugs were packed by blind method. A randomized, double-blind and controlled trial was conducted on ninety senile patients with MCI. Other forty-five senile healthy persons were recruited to the healthy control group. The ninety senile patients were randomly divided into the Huannao Yicong capsule-treated group (45 patients administered with three Huannao Yicong capsules and two aniracetam capsule analogues) and aniracetam-treated group (45 patients treated with two aniracetam capsules and three Huannao Yicong capsule analogues). Patients in the two groups were treated three times daily for 16 weeks. Memory, traditional Chinese medicine syndrome, cerebral blood flow, free radicals and inflammatory mediators, such as superoxide dismutase (SOD), malondialdehyde (MDA), acetylcholinesterase (AchE), interleukin-1α (IL-1α) and interleukin-6 (IL-6) were determined before and after the treatment. Blood lipids, including triglyceride (TG), total cholesterol (TC), low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), apolipoprotein A-1 (ApoA-1) and apolipoprotein B-100 (ApoB-100), were detected before and after the treatment. The safety indexes, such as routine tests of blood and urine, hepatic and renal function tests and electrocardiogram (ECG) were taken before and after the treatment. Results:Index score of clinical memory scale in senile healthy people was significantly higher than that in MCI patients before treatment (P<0.01), and the content of AchE, IL-1α and IL-6 was obviously lower (P<0.01, P<0.05), the activity of SOD was higher (P<0.05). No significant difference was found in direction memory of clinical memory scale between the two treatment groups. Other index scores of clinical memory scale and traditional Chinese medicine syndrome in patients of Huannao Yicong capsule-treated group were significantly improved as compared with those of the aniracetam-treated group (P<0.05, P<0.01). The blood flow parameters of anterior cerebral artery, posterior cerebral artery and resistant index in patients of Huannao Yicong capsule-treated group were increased significantly (P<0.01, P<0.05). Huannao Yicong capsule could significantly increase the activity of serum SOD and decrease the content of AchE, IL-1α and IL-6 (P<0.01, P<0.05), better than aniracetam. Furthermore, Huannao Yicong capsule could significantly improve the blood lipid, such as the lev

Advances in Lung Cancer (ALC) , 2016, DOI: 10.4236/alc.2016.51001
Abstract: Aquaporin 5 has been recently found as an important oncogenic marker whose expression levels seem to be determined by the level of cellular differentiation. Despite aquaporin volume decrease (AVD) being the most conserved earliest event in apoptosis, there is still a paucity of studies exploring on aquaporin expression and its relationship with apoptosis in cancer. The aim of this study was to investigate the expression of aquaporin 5 channel protein and to explore on its relationship with apoptosis in well and poorly differentiated non-small cell lung carcinoma both in-vivo and in-vitro. Findings from the study showed that the expression of AQP5 both in-vivo and in-vitro was dependent on the type and degree of tumour differentiation. In-vivo, an increase in aquaporin 5 expression was associated with an increased apoptosis in both poorly and highly differentiated adenocarcinoma (AC) while there was no association between aquaporin 5 expression and apoptosis in both poorly and highly differentiated squamous cell carcinoma (SCC). In vitro, differentiation therapy in the form of ATRA decreased both cell proliferation and increased the expression of AQP5 in A549 cells. The cytomorphological changes, expression of differentiation markers and flow cytometry apoptotic results were dependent on the dose of ATRA treatment. In conclusion, a higher expression of aquaporin 5 was found to promote the rate of the apoptotic process in lung adenocarcinoma (AC).

Abstract: Let be an analytic function in the unit disc . The Volterra integral operator is defined as follows: In this paper, we compute the norm of on some analytic function spaces. 1. Introduction Let be the unit disk of complex plane and the class of functions analytic in . Denote by the normalized Lebesgue area measure in and the Green function with logarithmic singularity at ; that is, , where is the M?bius transformation of . Let . The is the space of all functions such that From [1, 2], we see that = BMOA, the space of all analytic functions of bounded mean oscillation. When , the space is the same and equal to the Bloch space , which consists of all for which See [3, 4] for the theory of Bloch functions. Norms of some special operators, such as composition operator, weighted composition operator, and some integral operators, have been studied by many authors. The interested readers can refer [13, 24–32], for example. Recently, Liu and Xiong studied the norm of integral operators and on the Bloch space, Dirichlet space, BMOA space, and so on in [13]. In this paper, we study the norm of integral operator on some function spaces in the unit disk. 2. Main Results In this section, we state and prove our main results. In order to formulate our main results, we need some auxiliary results which are incorporated in the following lemmas. Lemma 1 (see [5, page 144]). Nonlinear differentiation equation and analytic function spaces
Hao Li,Songxiao Li
Mathematics , 2015,
Abstract: In this paper we consider the nonlinear complex differential equation $$(f^{(k)})^{n_{k}}+A_{k-1}(z)(f^{(k-1)})^{n_{k-1}}+\cdot\cdot\cdot+A_{1}(z)(f')^{n_{1}}+A_{0}(z)f^{n_{0}}=0, $$where $ A_{j}(z)$, $ j=0, \cdots, k-1 $, are analytic in the unit disk $ \mathbb{D} $, $ n_{j}\in R^{+} $ for all $ j=0, \cdots, k $. We investigate this nonlinear differential equation from two aspects. On one hand, we provide some sufficient conditions on coefficients such that all solutions of this equation belong to a class of M\"{o}bius invariant function space, the so-called $Q_K$ space. On the other hand, we find some growth estimates for the analytic solutions of this equation if the coefficients belong to some analytic function spaces.
Higher cohomology of the pluricanonical bundle is not deformation invariant
Ning Hao,Li Li
Mathematics , 2006,
Abstract: In this paper, we compute the dimensions of the 1st and 2nd cohomology groups of all the pluricanonical bundles for Hirzebruch surfaces, and the dimensions of the 1st and 2nd cohomology groups of the second pluricanonical bundles for a blow-up of a projective plane along finite many distinct points. Both of them give examples showing that the higher cohomology of the pluricanonical bundle is not deformation invariant.
Performance Analysis of a Threshold-Based Relay Selection Algorithm in Wireless Networks  [PDF]
Hao Niu, Taiyi Zhang, Li Sun
Communications and Network (CN) , 2010, DOI: 10.4236/cn.2010.22014
Abstract: Relay selection is an effective method to realize the cooperative diversity gain in wireless networks. In this paper, we study a threshold-based single relay selection algorithm. A reasonable threshold value is set at each relay node, and the first relay with the instantaneous channel gain larger than the threshold will be se-lected to cooperate with the source. The exact and closed form expression for its outage probability is de-rived over independent, non-identically distributed (i. n. i. d) Rayleigh channels. The complexity of the algo-rithm is also analyzed in detail. Simulation results are presented to verify our theoretical analysis.
