Application of Association Rule Mining Theory in Sina Weibo  [PDF]

A user profile contains information about a user. A substantial effort has been made so as to understand users’ behavior through analyzing their profile data. Online social networks provide an enormous amount of such information for researchers. Sina Weibo, a Twitter-like microblogging platform, has achieved a great success in China although studies on it are still in an initial state. This paper aims to explore the relationships among different profile attributes in Sina Weibo. We use the techniques of association rule mining to identify the dependency among the attributes and we found that if a user’s posts are welcomed, he or she is more likely to have a large number of followers. Our results demonstrate how the relationships among the profile attributes are affected by a user’s verified type. We also put some efforts on data transformation and analyze the influence of the statistical properties of the data distribution on data discretization.

Fast Acquisition Method of GPS Signal Based on FFT Cyclic Correlation  [PDF]

Since the global positioning system began to operate, it has become more and more close to people’s lives, and has been applied to various fields now. In order to track and decode GPS signals, GPS signals need to be captured first. The necessary parameters of the captured GPS signal are immediately transmitted to the tracking process, and then the navigation message of the satellite can be obtained by tracking process. In this paper, the basic contents related to the signal structure of GPS system are briefly described. Then, the traditional GPS signal acquisition method based on time domain correlation method is introduced, and the GPS signal acquisition method based on FFT cyclic correlation method is discussed in this paper. By comparing the simulation results, two kinds of GPS signal acquisition methods are compared with the calculation time according to the method of controlling variables. For the two GPS signal acquisition methods, the variation of time delay error with SNR is simulated in this paper.
The Smith-PID Control of Three-Tank-System Based on Fuzzy Theory

Abstract: According to the character of the volume-lag of the controlled process of three-tank-system, Smith predictor was adopted to compensate three-tank-system fuzzy adaptive control system. Fuzzy adaptive Smith predictive control system is composed with Smith predictor and fuzzy adaptive controller. The PID parameters were setting on line. This algorithm uses fuzzy adaptive PID control to improve the resistance ability to random disturbance and Smith predictive control to overcome the time-delay character of controlled object. Simulation results showed that this control algorithm has the advantages of strong adaptive ability and noise immunity.
Direction Oriented Pathfinding In Video Games

Abstract: Pathfinding has been one of major research areas in video games for many years. It is a key problem that most video games are confronted with. Search algorithm such as Dijkstra’s algorithm and A* algorithm are representing only half of the picture. The underlying map representations such as regular grid, visibility graph and navigation mesh also have significant impact on the performance. This paper reviews the current widely used solutions for pathfinding and proposes a new method which is expected to generate a higher quality path using less time and memory than other existing solutions. The deployment of methodology and techniques is described in detail. The aim and significance of the proposed method in future video games is addressed and the conclusion is given at the end.

Abstract: Augmented reality is the art to seamlessly fuse virtual objects into real ones. In this short note, we address the opposite problem, the inverse augmented reality, that is, given a perfectly augmented reality scene where human is unable to distinguish real objects from virtual ones, how the machine could help do the job. We show by structure from motion (SFM), a simple 3D reconstruction technique from images in computer vision, the real and virtual objects can be easily separated in the reconstructed 3D scene.
Analysis and prediction of exon, intron, intergenic region and splice sites for A. thaliana and C. elegans genomes  [PDF]

Abstract: Although a great deal of research has been undertaken in the area of the annotation of gene structure, predictive techniques are still not fully developed. In this paper, based on the characteristics of base composition of sequences and conservative of nucleotides at exon/intron splicing site, a least increment of diversity al-gorithm (LIDA) is developed for studying and predicting three kinds of coding exons, introns and intergenic regions. At first, by selecting the 64 trinucleotides composition and 120 position parameters of the four bases as informational parameters, coding exon, intron and intergenic sequence are predicted. The results show that overall predicted accuracies are 91.1% and 88.4%, respectively for A. thaliana and C. ele-gans genome. Subsequently, based on the po-sition frequencies of four kinds of bases in regions near intron/coding exon boundary, initia-tion and termination site of translation, 12 position parameters are selected as diversity source. And three kinds of the coding exons are predicted by use of the LIDA. The predicted successful rates are higher than 80%. These results can be used in sequence annotation.
Quantitative Evaluation and Uncertainty Assessment on Geostatistical Simulation of Soil Salinity Using Electromagnetic Induction Technique  [PDF]

Diagnosis of soil salinity and characterizing its spatial variability both vertically and horizontally are needed to establish control measures in irrigated agriculture. In this regard, it is essential that salinity development in varying soil depths be known temporally and spatially. Apparent soil electrical conductivity, measured by electromagnetic induction instruments, has been widely used as an auxiliary variable to estimate spatial distribution of field soil salinity. The main objectives of this paper were adopted a mobile electromagnetic induction (EMI) system to perform field electromagnetic (EM) survey in different soil layers, to evaluate the uncertainty through Inverse Distance Weighted (IDW) and Ordinary Kriging (OK) methods, and to determine which algorithm is more reliable for the local and spatial uncertainty assessment. Results showed that EM38 data from apparent soil electrical conductivity are highly correlated with salinity, more accurate for estimating salinity from multiple linear regression models, which the correlation coefficient of 0 - 20, 20 - 40, 40 - 60 and 60 - 80 cm were 0.9090, 0.9228, 0.896 and 0.9085 respectively. The comparison showed that the prediction accuracy of two methods also displays good performance for soil salinity, the estimation precision of IDW method (with E = 0.8873, 0.9075, 0.8483 and 0.901, RPD = 9.64, 8.01, 8.17 and 11.23 in 0 - 20, 20 - 40. 40 - 60 and 60 - 80 cm soil layers, respectively) was superior to that of OK (with E = 0.8857, 0.872, 0.8744 and 0.8822, RPD = 9.44, 7.83, 8.52 and 10.88, respectively), but differences of two methods in predictions are not significant. The obtained salinity map was helpful to display the spatial patterns of soil salinity and monitor and evaluate the management of salinity.

Abstract: Gastric cancer ranks as the fifth most common malignant tumor worldwide and is the third most common cause of cancer-related death. For advanced gastric cancer (AGC), neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) can reduce its stage, increase the rate of radical resection, improve response to treatment, reduce the risk of local recurrence and improve survival rate. Regional arterial infusion chemotherapy (RAIC) is a form of NAC that involves directly injecting chemotherapeutic drugs into the tumor site through the tumor-feeding artery. RAIC increases the local drug concentration around the tumor, thereby improving the therapeutic responses and reducing the adverse effects of the drugs. In recent years, RAIC has attracted increasing attention. This article summarizes the basic principles, procedure, chemotherapy regimens, adverse drug reactions and complications, clinical applications and response evaluation of RAIC in the treatment of AGC.
Broadband high reflectivity in subwavelength-grating slab waveguides

Abstract: We computationally study a subwavelength dielectric grating structure, show that slab waveguide modes can be used to obtain broadband high reflectivity, and analyze how slab waveguide modes influence reflection. A structure showing interference between Fabry-Perot modes, slab waveguide modes, and waveguide array modes is designed with ultra-broadband high reflectivity. Owing to the coupling of guided modes, the region with reflectivity R > 0.99 has an ultra-high bandwidth ( {\Delta}f/f > 30%). The incident-angle region with R > 0.99 extends over a range greater than 40{\deg}. Moreover, an asymmetric waveguide structure is studied using a semiconductor substrate.
Advances in catalytic removal of NOx under lean-burn conditions

Abstract: The catalytic removal of NOx under lean conditions is one of the most important targets in catalysis research. The activities of metal oxides, zeolite-based catalysts and noble metal catalysts together with the factors are influencing the selective reduction of NOx with hydrocarbons are reviewed. The reaction mechanisms for the three types of catalysts are briefly discussed. Recent progress in combined catalyst and NOx storage reduction catalysts is also introduced. Finally, future research directions are forecasted.
