Effect of a direct magnetic field on the interfacial microstructure between molten aluminium and solid iron

Abstract: Effect of a direct magnetic field on the interfacial microstructure between molten aluminium and solid iron was studied. The intermetallic phases formed in the intermetallic layers were investigated by means of electron probe microanalysis (EPMA) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). It was found that the DC magnetic field can reduce the average thickness of the intermetallic layer and the average aluminium content in the intermetallic layer. Moreover, the intermetallic phases formed in the intermetallic layers are identified as Al3Fe and Al5Fe2 in the absence of the DC magnetic field, while only Al5Fe2 phase present in the presence of the DC magnetic field.
Geese PSO Optimization in Geometric Constraint Solving

Abstract: Geometric constraint problem is equivalent to the problem of solving a set of nonlinear equations substantially. The constraint problem can be transformed to an optimization n problem. We can solve the problem with GeesePSO optimization. In this paper, an improved algorithm is proposed using the characteristics of the flight of geese for reference. The improved algorithm has superiority over PSO; for one thing, it keeps the population various by ordering all the particles and making each particle fly following its anterior particle; for another thing, it strengthens cooperation and competition between particles by making each particle share more useful information of the other particles. The experiment shows that it can improve the geometric constraint solving efficiency and possess better convergence property than the compared algorithms.
Optimal State Estimation for Discrete-time Systems with Random Observation Delays

Abstract: This paper investigates the linear minimum mean square error state estimation for discrete-time systems with Markov jump delays. In order to solve the optimal estimation problem, the single Markov delayed measurement is rewritten as an equivalent measurement with multiple constant delays, then a delay-free Markov jump linear system is obtained via state augmentation. The estimator is derived on the basis of the geometric arguments in the Hilbert space, and a recursive equation of the filter is obtained by solving the Riccati equations. It is shown that the proposed state estimator is exponentially stable under standard assumptions.

Abstract: The title Schiff base compound, C13H8Cl3N3O2, was synthesized by the condensation reaction of 3,5-dichlorosalicylaldehyde with 6-chloronicotinic acid hydrazide in 95% ethanol. The molecule is nearly planar, with a dihedral angle of 1.9 (2)° between the aromatic ring planes, and an intramolecular O—H...N hydrogen bond is observed. In the crystal, the molecules are connected by intermolecular N—H...O hydrogen bonds into infinite chains propagating in [100].
Effects of Liangxue Tongyu Formula on brain edema and expressions of matrix metalloproteinase-9 and tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase-1 in rats with intracerebral hemorrhage

Abstract: Objective: To investigate the effects of Liangxue Tongyu Formula (LXTYF), a compound traditional Chinese herbal medicine, on brain edema in rats with intracerebral hemorrhage and to explore the mechanism. Methods: Intracerebral hemorrhage was induced by using the intrastriatal autologous blood injection. Rats were randomized into sham-operated (SO) group, intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) group and LXTYF group. Rats in the LXTYF group were intragastrically administered with LXTYF every day while the other two groups were given normal saline. Brain water content was determined at 24, 48, 72, and 120 h after intracerebral hemorrhage. Matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9) level, and MMP-9 and tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase-1 (TIMP-1) mRNA expressions in perihematoma area were detected by gelatin zymography and fluorescence quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction at the four time points, respectively. Results: Water content in the ICH group was highly elevated after intracerebral hemorrhage, and reached to the peak at 72 h. Compared with the ICH group, the LXTYF group had lower water contents at 48, 72 and 120 h after intracerebral hemorrhage (P<0.01). The difference in water content between the LXTYF and SO groups was significant only at 72 h (P<0.01). Although the pro-MMP-9 level and MMP-9 activity in the LXTYF and ICH groups were enhanced, they were still lower in the LXTYF group than in the ICH group (P<0.01 for 24, 48, 72 and 120 h, respectively). And there was no significant difference in them between the LXTYF group and the SO group at 120 h. Meanwhile, MMP-9 mRNA expressions were increased in the ICH and LXTYF groups, but the levels in the LXTYF group were significantly lower (P<0.01 for 48, 72 and 120 h, respectively) than those in the ICH group. Also, TIMP-1 mRNA expressions at 24, 48, 72 and 120 h after intracerebral hemorrhage were up-regulated in the LXTYF group, and there were significant differences in TIMP-1 expressions between the LXTYF group and ICH group after intracerebral hemorrhage (P<0.01). Conclusion: Liangxue Tongyu Formula ameliorates brain edema in rats after intracerebral hemorrhage by inhibiting MMP-9 expression and activity and up-regulating TIMP-1.
Clinical research of Yiqi Sanju Formula in treating central obese men at high risk of metabolic syndrome

Abstract: Objective: To observe the therapeutic effects of Yiqi Sanju Formula (YQSJF), a compound Chinese herbal medicine, on central obese men at high risk of metabolic syndrome (MS).Methods: Compared with 30 healthy male volunteers, 45 central obese men were separated randomly into two groups and received the interventions with YQSJF and placebo respectively for 10 weeks. Baseline characteristics, insulin resistance, inflammation cytokines and plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 (PAI-1) and tissue plasminogen activator (t-PA) were evaluated before and after treatment. Results: The score of homeostatic model assessment for insulin resistance (HOMA-IR) and the levels of C reactive protein (CRP), free fatty acid (FFA) and PAI-1 in obese men were higher than those in the control group, while t-PA was lower. After treatment, compared with placebo group, body mass index, waist, and waist-to-hip ratio were decreased significantly in subjects who received YQSJF (P<0.01). The score of HOMA-IR and the levels of CRP, FFA and PAI-1 were decreased significantly, and the level of t-PA was increased significantly (P<0.01). Conclusion: YQSJF can reduce obesity and insulin resistance in central obese men at high risk of MS and improve inflammation and fibrinolysis, which indicates that it can reduce the risk of atherosclerosis.
Determination of catalpol in dried rehmannia root and Taohong Siwu Decoction with high performance liquid chromatography

Abstract: Objective: To determinate the catalpol contents in dried rehmannia root and Taohong Siwu Decoction containing rehmannia root with high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). Methods: Catalpol was separated on a YWG-C18 column using water-acetonitrile (99.4∶0.6) as mobile phase and detective wavelength at 210 nm. Results: The linear curve of tested catalpol concentration within the range of 0.0536-5.3600 μg/μl was ideal (n=5, r=0.9997). The average recovery rate of the dried rehmannia root and Taohong Siwu decoction was 98.7% (RSD=0.48%) and 98.2% (RSD=1.29%) respectively. Conclusion: HPLC method is accurate and valuable for the quality control of Radix Rehmanniae and Taohong Siwu Decoction.
In Situ Absorption in Rat Intestinal Tract of Solid Dispersion of Annonaceous Acetogenins

Abstract: Isolated from Annona squamosa L, Annonaceous acetogenins (ACGs) exhibit a broad range of biological properties yet absorbed badly due to the low solubility. Solid dispersion in polyethylene glycol 4000 (PEG 4000) has been developed to increase the solubility and oral absorption of ACGs. The formulation of ACGS-solid dispersion was optimized by a simplex lattice experiment design and carried out by a solvent-fusion method. We studied the absorption property of ACGs in rat’s intestine, which showed there was a good absorption and uptake percentages with solid dispersion. The study on uptake percentage in different regions of rat’s intestine attested that the duodenum had the best permeability, followed by jejunum, ileum, and colon in order with no significant differences. So the paper drew the conclusion that solid dispersion could improve the solubility and oral absorption of annonaceous acetogenins.
