Urology Journal , 2012,
Abstract: Purpose: To compare two matched groups of men with bladder transitional cell carcinoma (TCC) who underwent prostate-sparing cystectomy (PSC) or conventional radical cystoprostatectomy (CRC).Materials and Methods: Twenty-three men who have undergone PSC with the diagnosis of bladder TCC (Ta–T2) from 2003 to 2008 in Tehran, Iran were included in the study as the experimental group. The control group composed of 27 men with comparable tumor characteristics and age range, who had non-nerve-sparing radical cystoprostatectomy and orthotopic ileal W pouch reconstruction in the same centers. All the procedures were performed by the same surgical group under the supervision of different attending staff. Results: Mean follow-up period was 39 months in PSC and 35 months in CRC group. The 5-year overall survival was 47% and 30% in PSC and CRC groups, respectively. Median survival was 48 months in PSC and 36 months in CRC group, using Kaplan-Meier survival analysis (P> .05). Impotence was observed in 16.6% in PSC and in 83.3% in CRC group (P = .002). Mean International Index of Erectile Function-5 score of the PSC group was 19.8 compared with 5.7 in the CRC group (P = .003). Only one patient in each group was completely incontinent. Urethral anastomosis stricture occurred in 2 patients in CRC group. Conclusion: Patients who underwent PSC did not show decreased overall survival compared to CRC, which provided better functional results.

Hamid Nabati
Energy and Power Engineering (EPE) , 2011, DOI: 10.4236/epe.2011.32023
Abstract: In this paper, condensation of water vapor from a mixture of COR2R/HR2RO is studied numerically. To simplify the study and focus on the physical model, a simple vertical plate was chosen. Two condensation models are developed and numerical approach is considered to implement these models. The main objective in the cur-rent paper was to study the capability of numerical modeling in prediction of complex process. Results showed that developed condensation models in combination with numerical approach can predict the trends in condensation behavior of binary mixture very well. Results from this study can be developed further to be used in design of condensers which are suitable for oxy-fuel power plants.
Optimal Node Scheduling for Desired Percentage of Coverage in Wireless Sensor Networks  [PDF]
Hamid Khosravi
Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) , 2012, DOI: 10.4236/wsn.2012.45018
Abstract: Recent developments in wireless communication and embedded computing technologies have led to the advent of wireless sensor network technology. Hundreds of thousands of these micro sensors can be deployed in many areas including health, environment and battlefield in order to monitor the domain with desired level of accuracy. When wireless sensors are deployed in an area, the lifetime of the network should last as long as possible according to the original amount of energy. Therefore, reducing energy consumption in WSNs is of primary concern. We have proposed a node scheduling solution that solves the coverage and connectivity problem in sensor networks in an integrated manner. In this way we will divide network life time to finite number of rounds and in each round we will generate a coverage bitmap of sensors of the domain and based on this bitmap it will decided which sensors remain active or go to sleep. We will check the connection of the sensor network by using Laplacian of adjancy graph of active nodes in each round. Also the network will be capable of producing desired percentage of coverage by using coverage bitmap. We will define the connected coverage problem as an optimization problem and we will seek a solution for the problem by using Genetic Algorithm optimization method.

This research had been conducted in Raja Ampat-West Papua by using survey method and respondents determined by purposive sampling method. The collected data had been analyzed by Analytic Hierarchy Process, or AHP. The results indicated that (1) the sustainability of marine sanctuary program in the COREMAP site phase II Raja Ampat will go on, because the strong indications showed that the comprehensive sustainable value were 2,178 (high category), (2) from 22 evaluated villages, 15 villages (68,2%) have sustainability value by high category and 7 villages (31,8 %) have sustainability value by moderate category (i.e: Villages of Saonek, Yenbeser, Kurkapa, Bianci, Selpele, Yensawai, and Arefi).
Effect of New Suggested Ferroresonance Limiter on the Stability Domain of Chaotic Ferroresonance in the Power Transformer with Linear Core Model  [PDF]
Hamid Radmanesh, Hamid Fathi, Mehrdad Rostami
Energy and Power Engineering (EPE) , 2011, DOI: 10.4236/epe.2011.34058
Abstract: This Paper studies the effect of new suggested ferroresonance limiter on controlling ferroresonance oscillations in the power transformer. It is expected that this limiter generally can control the ferroresonance. For studying these phenomena, at first ferroresonance is introduced and a general modeling approach is given. A simple case of ferroresonance in a three phase transformer is used to illustrate these phenomena. Then, effect of new suggested ferroresonance limiter on the onset of chaotic ferroresonance and control of these oscillations in a power transformer including linear core losses is studied. Simulation is done on a three phase power transformer while one of its phases is opened, and effect of varying input voltage on occurring ferroresonance overvoltage is studied. Results show that connecting the ferroresonance limiter to the transformer exhibits a great controlling effect on the ferroresonance overvoltage. Phase plane diagram, FFT analysis along with bifurcation diagrams are also presented. Significant effect on occurring chaotic ferroresonance, the range of parameter values that may lead to overvoltage and magnitude of ferroresonance overvoltage is obtained, showed and tabulated.
Using of the Generalized Special Relativity in Deriving the Equation of the Gravitational Red-Shift  [PDF]
Mahmoud Hamid Mahmoud Hilo
Journal of Modern Physics (JMP) , 2011, DOI: 10.4236/jmp.2011.25045
Abstract: In this work we present a study of a new method to prove the equation of the gravitational red shift of spec-tral lines. That’s according to the generalized special relativity theory. The equation of the gravitational red shift of spectral lines has been studied in many different works, using different methods depending on the Newtonian mechanics, and other theories. Although attention was drawn to the fact that the well-known ex-pression of the gravitational Red-Shift of spectral lines may be derived with no recourse to the general rela-tivity theory! In this study a unique derivation has been done using the Generalized Special Relativity (GSR) and the same result obtained.
Improving Project Change Management Using Leadership Spirit  [PDF]
Hamid Shafaei Bejestani
iBusiness (IB) , 2011, DOI: 10.4236/ib.2011.33040
Abstract: Projects seldom run exactly according to their plans due to changes. However, project deliverables must be provided on-time and on-budget, either by rejecting changes or by converting their threats to opportunities. To achieve this, project team should be kept ready to control changes. In this issue, leadership is an effective spirit for a project manager to keep his/her project team in its best condition for rejecting changes, or getting back on track, or earning benefits from changes. A project leader is more successful than a project manager in change management.
A New Combinational Terminology for Geothermal Systems  [PDF]
Mohammad Rezaie, Hamid Aghajani
International Journal of Geosciences (IJG) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/ijg.2013.41005
Abstract:

A geothermal resource can be defined as a reservoir inside the Earth from which heat can be extracted economically Geothermal resources are classified on the basis of different aspects, such as heat source, heat transfer, reservoir tem perature, physical state, commercial utilization and geological settings. Unfortunately most of the current classifications that are used for geothermal systems are not complete. So, a combinational terminology of geological and tempera ture-based classifications would be more complete. This terminology can explain all geological situations, temperature and physical state of geothermal reservoir altogether. According to geological settings, in combinational terminology (from left to right), the class of geothermal resource’s name would be placed at first, then the physical state of reservoir (Liquid-dominated or Two-phase or Vapor-dominated) would be written and finally the class of the geothermal reser voir which is related to its temperature, is written.

Journal of Software Engineering and Applications (JSEA) , 2012, DOI: 10.4236/jsea.2012.512B038
Abstract: In general, digital images can be classified into photographs, textual and mixed documents. This taxonomy is very useful in many applications, such as archiving task. However, there are no effective methods to perform this classification automatically. In this paper, we present a method for classifying and archiving document into the following semantic classes: photographs, textual and mixed documents. Our method is based on combining low-level image features, such as mean, Standard deviation, Skewness. Both the Decision Tree and Neuronal Network Classifiers are used for classification task.
Determinants of Under-Five Mortality in Bangladesh  [PDF]
Abdul Hamid Chowdhury
Open Journal of Statistics (OJS) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/ojs.2013.33024
Abstract:

This paper examines determinants of under-five mortality in Bangladesh. The study utilizes the data extracted from the 2007 Bangladesh demographic and health survey. Chi-square test for independence and multivariate proportional hazard analysis reflects that father’s education, place of residence, region of residence, number of children under five years of age, previous death of sibling, mother’s age and breastfeeding have significant influence on under-five mortality. The proximate determinants are found to have stronger influence on under-five mortality than the socioeconomic factors considered in the study do.
