Determination of Particulate Matter Dispersion in Eastern Black Sea Region Using Geographical Information Systems

Abstract: Factors like unplanned urbanization, transportation and industry in Eastern Black Sea cause significant adverse effects in this region. One of these effects is the air pollution. Air pollution reduces the life quality in cities and also it brings about many health problems. Especially, in winter, fossil fuels are used for the purpose of commercial heating and these fuels cause serious air pollution in the region. One of the important sources which may lead to air pollution in research area is coastal road of Black Sea. This road extends from borderline of Georgia to western Black Sea Region of Turkey and is an important route for transportation. The effects and dispersions of PM10 pollutant in the provinces of Artvin, Bayburt, Giresun, Gümü?hane, Ordu, Rize and Trabzon located along the Eastern Black Sea Region were investigated using maps generated by Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Data related to air quality was obtained from the hourly measurements of the stations used by the Ministry Environment and Urban Planning between 2010 and 2015. According to the study results, it was determined that, in specified date range, the concentrations of PM10 were high; in all seasons for Trabzon and Gümü?hane, in the summer, autumn and winter seasons for Bayburt and especially in the autumn for Ordu.

Abstract: Air pollution occurs more particularly in areas where there are an intense and unplanned urbanization. Because of the pollution, air quality is reduced and the pollution causes the various health problems. In this study, sulphurdioxide (SO2) concentration distributions has been examined in The Eastern Black Sea region where decreasing air quality because of the non-planned urbanization and topographical reasons. Fossil fuels used for heating especially in the winter season lead to air pollution dramatically. The Black Sea Coast could be one of the major sources of the air pollution in the study area. In this study, the effects and distributions of SO2 polluter on air quality is investigated by produced maps with the help of geographical information systems in the area of Eastern Black Sea zone that has Artvin, Bayburt, Giresun, Gumushane, Ordu, Rize, and Trabzon cities.The related data of air quality, measurement stations which are belonging to The Ministry of Environment and Urbanization, have been used to measure hourly data between 2011-2016 years. The outcomes of this study, the means of SO2 concentrations ranking is found in spring seasons, Ordu > Giresun > Trabzon > Gumushane > Rize > Bayburt > Artvin, in summer seasons, Trabzon > Giresun > Rize > Ordu > Artvin > Bayburt, in fall seasons, Trabzon > Ordu > Gumushane > Giresun > Bayburt > Artvin > Rize, in winter seasons, Ordu > Trabzon > Gumushane > Giresun > Bayburt > Artvin > Rize.
Landslide Susceptibility Assessment in Planned Areas Using Geographical Information Systems and AHP Method: The Case of Artvin

Abstract: Artvin is one of the leading provinces in Turkey where landslides occur most frequently. There have been many landslides characterized as natural disaster recorded across the province. The areas susceptible to landslides in Artvin should be identified in order to ensure people's safety, to take the necessary measures for reducing any devastating effects of landslides and to make proper decisions for land use. In this study, using Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) method, the landslide susceptibility map was produced for the area where the zoning plan of Artvin’s central municipality is based on. Parameters including lithology, altitude, slope, aspect, and proximity to the stream were used in landslide susceptibility analysis. In the evaluations, it was determined that 15% of the study area had a very high, 25.52% high, 28.95% moderate, 18.77% low, and 11.76% very low degrees in respect to landslide susceptibility. In addition, the administrative boundaries of the settlement units within the research area along with the building blocks in the current zoning plan were superimposed with the produced susceptibility map in order to determine the landslide susceptibility of both the building blocks and the settlement units. Accordingly, it was established that ?aml?k and Balc?o?lu neighborhoods along with over 50% of the lands in Seyitler Village and approximately 68% of the building blocks were susceptible to landslides at very high and high degrees.
Random Field Distributed Heisenberg Model on a Thin Film Geometry

Abstract: The effects of the bimodal random field distribution on the thermal and magnetic properties of of the Heisenberg thin film have been investigated by making use of a two spin cluster with the decoupling approximation. Particular attention has been devoted to the obtaining of phase diagrams and magnetization behaviors. The physical behaviors of special as well as tricritical points are discussed for a wide range of selected Hamiltonian parameters. For example, it is found that when the strength of magnetic field increases, the locations of special point in related plane decrease. Moreover, tricritical behavior has been obtained for the higher values of the magnetic field, and influences of the varying Hamiltonian parameters on its behavior have been elucidated in detail in order to have a better understanding of mechanism underlying of the considered system.
Hysteresis behaviors of a spin-1 anisotropic Heisenberg model

Abstract: The hysteresis behaviors of anisotropic S-1 Heisenberg model have been studied within the effective field theory with two spin cluster. After giving the phase diagrams, the effect of the crystal field and anisotropy in the exchange interaction on the hysteresis loops have been determined. One important finding is double hysteresis loop behavior of the system in the low temperature and negative crystal field region, which disappears with the decreasing anisotropy in the exchange interaction. This behavior was carefully investigated and physical explanation has also been given.
Hysteresis behavior of the anisotropic quantum Heisenberg model driven by periodic magnetic field

Abstract: Dynamic behavior of a quantum Heisenberg ferromagnet in the presence of a periodically oscillating magnetic field has been analyzed by means of the effective field theory with two spin cluster. The dynamic equation of motion has been constructed with the help of a Glauber type stochastic process and solved for a simple cubic lattice. After the phase diagrams given, the behavior of the hysteresis loop area, coercive field and remanent magnetization with the anisotropy in the exchange interaction has been investigated in detail. Especially, by comparing of the magnitudes of the hysteresis loop area in the high anisotropy limit (i.e. Ising model) and low anisotropy limit (i.e. isotropic Heisenberg model), detailed description of the hysteresis loop area with the anisotropy in the exchange interaction given. Some interesting features have been obtained about this behavior as well as in phase diagrams such as tricritical points.

Particular attention has been devoted on the behavior of the hysteresis loop area, coercive field and remanent magnetization with the anisotropy in the exchange interaction for both ferromagnetic and paramagnetic phases.
Effects of the randomly distributed magnetic field on the phase diagrams of the transverse Ising thin film

Abstract: The effect of the zero centered Gaussian random magnetic field distribution on the phase diagrams and ground state magnetizations of the transverse Ising thin film has been investigated. As a formulation, the differential operator technique and decoupling approximation within the effective field theory has been used. The variation of the phase diagrams with the Gaussian distribution width (\sigma) has been obtained and particular attention has been paid on the evolution of the special point coordinate with distribution parameter. In addition, the ground state longitudinal and transverse magnetization behaviors have been investigated in detail.
Bond diluted anisotropic quantum Heisenberg model

Abstract: Effects of the bond dilution on the critical temperatures, phase diagrams and the magnetization behaviors of the isotropic and anisotropic quantum Heisenberg model have been investigated in detail. For the isotropic case, bond percolation threshold values have been determined for several numbers of two (2D) and three (3D) dimensional lattices. In order to investigate the effect of the anisotropy in the exchange interaction on the results obtained for the isotropic model, a detailed investigation has been made on a honeycomb lattice. Some interesting results, such as second order reentrant phenomena in the phase diagrams have been found.
Critical Behavior of the 3D anisotropic quantum Heisenberg model in a trimodal random field distribution

Abstract: Effect of the trimodal random magnetic field distribution on the phase diagrams of the anisotropic quantum Heisenberg model has been investigated for three dimensional lattices with effective field theory (EFT) for a two spin cluster. Variation of the phase diagrams with the random magnetic field distribution parameters has been obtained and the effect of the anisotropy in the exchange interaction on the phase diagrams has been investigated in detail. Particular attention has been devoted on the behavior of the tricritical points with random magnetic field distribution.
