Although most patients eventually reach this target, the time required varies substantially. This study aimed to determine whether length of time with below-target hemoglobin levels after dialysis initiation is associated with medical costs, and if so, whether intermediate factors underlie the associations. US patients initiating dialysis in 2002 were studied using the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services ESRD database. Anemia persistence (time in months with hemoglobin below 110 g/L) was determined in a six-month entry period, and outcomes were assessed in the subsequent six-month follow-up period. The structural equation modeling technique was used to evaluate associations between persistent anemia and medical costs and to determine intermediate factors for these associations. The study included 28,985 patients. Mean per-patient-per-month medical cost was $6267 (standard deviation $5713) in the six-month follow-up period. Each additional month with hemoglobin below 110 g/L was associated with an 8.9% increment in medical cost. The increased cost was associated with increased erythropoietin use and blood transfusions, and increased rates of hospitalization and vascular access procedures in the follow-up period.

Abstract: The title compound, C11H9NO5, was prepared by the reaction of 2-furanacrylic acid and N-hydroxysuccinimide. The molecule consists of two approximately planar moieties, viz. a succinimide group and the rest of the molecule [the largest deviations from the least-squares planes are 0.120 (1) and 0.210 (1) , respectively]. The dihedral angle between these fragments is 63.70 (5)°. In the crystal, molecules are linked by C—H...O hydrogen bonds into two-dimensional nets.

Abstract: Each biologic must go through a process from birth, growth, reproduction until death, this process known as life cycle. This paper borrows the biologic life cycle theory to propose a Lifecycle-based Swarm Optimization (LSO) algorithm. Based on some features of life cycle, LSO designs six optimization operators: chemotactic, assimilation, transposition, crossover, selection and mutation. In this paper, the capability of the LSO to address constrained optimization problem was investigated. Firstly, the proposed method was test on some well-known and widely used benchmark problems. When compared with PSO, we can see that LSO can obtain the better solution and lower standard deviation than PSO on many different types of constrained optimization problems. Finally, LSO was also used for seeking the optimal route for vehicle route problem in logistics system. The result of LSO is the best when comparing with PSO and GA. The results of above two types of experiments, which include not only the ordinary benchmark problem but also the practical problems in engineering, demonstrate that LSO is a competitive and effective approach for solving constrained problems.
A Min-Conflict Heuristic-Based Web Service Chain Reconfiguration Approach  [PDF]

Abstract: The state-of-art Web services composition approaches are facing more and more serious bottlenecks of effectiveness and stability with the increasing diversity and real-time requirements of applications, since new web service chain must be generated from “scratch” for each application. To break these bottlenecks, this paper presents a Min-Conflict Heuristic-Based Web Service Chain Reconfiguration Approach(MCHRC) to maximal reuse relative web services chain: a min-conflict heuristic based regression search algorithms is proposed to implement the web services chain reconfiguration based on the formal definition of process constraint and integrity constraint to guarantee the correctness and integrality of the reconfiguration. This benefits the service reuse and then can relieve the time complexity of web service composition and improve web services chain executing stability by reduce service provider load. Experimental results show that this approach makes significant improvement on the effectiveness of web services composition.

Abstract: The article analyses several key issues which restrict the effectiveness of fund project peer review work. It analyses the evaluating theory and matter-element theory to access the expert anti-evaluation model, and also studies the expert anti-evaluation index system to support the anti-evaluation method. The practical basis is the true score data of the experts which is collected from the actual anti-evaluation in Liaoning province science and technology fund project peer review system. With the practical experience of the actual project, we prove that the expert index system anti-evaluation model and expert anti-evaluation method can improve the fund project peer review work and play a positive role for the peer review work and also make the review work more scientific and more rational.

Abstract: Present-day small hydropower plants (SHPs) have a large development potential because of the increasing interest in renewable resources and distributed energy generation, therefore, there are many SHPs in places of China where are rich in water resources. However, it has caused overvoltages in the distribution network, and which is even worse for the switching overvoltage such as isolated network operation, changing power supply path. The simple network model is used to analyze the reasons of the switching overvoltage, and the simulation software DIgSILENT/PowerFactory is used to check out the results of the theoretical analysis.

Abstract: By using Fubini theorem or Tonelli theorem, we find that the zeta function value at 2 is equal to a special integral. Furthermore, we find that this special integral is two times of another special integral. By using this fact we give an easy way to calculate the value of the alternating sum of \"\" without using the Fourier expansion. Also, we discuss the relationship between Genocchi numbers and Bernoulli numbers and get some results about Bernoulli polynomials.
