Research on Feature Extraction for Character Recognition of NaXi Pictograph

Abstract: Character recognition is one of important applications for pattern recognition. Feature extraction is the most important problem in character recognition. In this paper, we have researched on feature extraction for character recognition of NaXi pictograph. The characteristics of NaXi pictograph are firstly analyzed. Four kinds of features, including permeability number, coarse grid, directional line element, and invariant moments, and 6 kinds of computation distances, including Lidean distance, Standardized Euclidean distance, Minkowski metric, Chebychey distance, City distance, and Correlation distance will be applied to classify characters of NaXi pictograph, based on its characteristics. We have built a sample database containing 21000 samples for 2120 NaXi characters. The results of experiments suggest that coarse grid and directional element are more suitable for character recognition of NaXi pictograph, while invariant moments is not advisable for this task.

Abstract: Coordinated multi-point transmission and reception (CoMP) scheme enable LTE-Advanced systems to achieve their higher spectral efficiency. Allowing base stations to cooperate one another is one of the solutions to mitigate the inter-cell interference (ICI). In this paper, we propose an iterative power allocation scheme with MMSE procoding based on a modified water-filling for downlink CoMP systems, which achieves the optimal performance. The simulation results show that our proposed system can achieve its optimal rate according to its antenna configuration. Comparing them with a block diagonalization (BD) shows the advantages of MMSE precoding, in particular at a low SNR region.

Abstract:

Electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) having wide applications in quantum optics and nonlinear optics is explored ordinarily in various atomic systems. In this paper we present a theoretical study of EIT using supercon- ducting circuit with a V-type artificial molecule constructed by two Josephson charge qubits coupled each other through a large capacitor. In our theoretical model we make a steady state approximation and obtain the analytical expressions of the complex susceptibility for the artificial system via the density matrix formalism. The complex susceptibility has additional dependence on the qubit parameters and hence can be tuned to a certain extent.

Abstract: Reasonable approximations are introduced to investigate the real scalar field scattering in the nearly extremal Schwarzschild--de Sitter (SdS) space. The approximations naturally lead to the invertible x(r) and the global replacement of the true potential by a P?shl--Teller one. Meanwhile, the Schr?dinger-like wave equation is transformed into a solvable form. Our numerical solutions to the wave equation show that the wave is characteristically similar to the harmonic under the tortoise coordinate x, while the wave piles up near the two horizons and the wavelength tends to its maximum as the potential approaches to the peak under the radial coordinate r.

Abstract: Medical equipments related to life safety of human, it is important to detect by a high precise method. Image mosaic which based on Harris corner operator is a commonly used method in this area; Harris operator has low calculation burden, it is simple and stable, so it is more effective comparing with other feature point extracted operators. But in this algorithm, corner points can only be detected in a single-scale, there may be losing information of corner points, causing corner point location offset, extracting false corner points because of noise. In order to solve this question, the acquired images should be processed by dilation and erosion operation firstly, then do image mosaic. Results show that image noise can be eliminated effectively after those morphological processes, as well as the false positive noise generated by image glitch. The success rate of image mosaic and detection accuracy can be greatly improved through the Morphology-Harris operator. Measurement of precision instruments which based on this new method will improve the measurement accuracy, and the research in this area will promote the further development of machine vision technology.

Abstract: The finite element method has been increasingly adopted to study the biomechanical behavior of biologic structures. Once the finite element mesh has been generated from CT data set, the assignment of bone tissue’s material properties to each element is a fundamental step in the generation of individualized or subject-specific finite element models. The aim of this work is to simulate the inhomogeneous and anisotropic material properties of femur using the finite element method. A program is developed to read a CT data set as well as the finite element mesh generated from it, and to assign to each element of the mesh the material properties derived from the bone tissue density at the element location. Moreover, for cancellous bone in femoral neck and cortical bone in femoral stem, the principal orientations of transverse isotropy were defined based on the tra-becular structures and the haversian system respectively.

Abstract: In this paper, method of moment and modified physical optical hybrid method is used to analyze the scattering from 3-D PEC object buried under rough surface. The random rough ground surface is characterized with Gaussian statistics for surface height and for surface correlation function. The air-earth interface and the object are all replaced by the corresponding equivalent currents and the equivalent current on the ground surface is divided into two parts: the current caused by the incident wave which is named as incident current, and the current caused by buried object which is named as scattered current. The incident currents are obtained by PO approximation and the scattered currents are related to the current on the buried scatter by a modified PO method in this work. Only the current of scatter is considered as unknown and will be solved by MoM. After obtaining the current of scatter, the scattered current on the ground surface is calculated by the modified PO approximation. And the scatter field will be calculated by using the scattered current. In order to validate the hybrid method proposed in this paper, several numerical examples are given and compared with the results of MoM.
Feature Dimension Reduction of NaXi Pictographs Characters Recognition based on LDA

Abstract: As a kind of pictographic character, Naxi pictographs character has received little academic attention. Proposing dimension reduction method of Naxi pictographs characters on the basis of LDA (Linear Discriminant Analysis), this paper thus makes an in-depth study of feature dimension reduction, an important issue in the recognition of Naxi pictographs characters. By constructing a recognition sample library involving four features of grid feature, permeability number feature, moment invariant feature, and directional element feature (DEF), 50% of data are selected from sample library as training set and testing set respectively. Two dimension reduction methods of LDA and FA (Factor Analysis) are applied to dimension reduction experiment of features of Naxi pictographs characters. The experiment result proves LDA method to be significantly superior to FA method, as LDA method could still maintain a 99% recognition precision when the dimension is reduced to 10% of the original dimension.

Abstract: NaXi Pictograph , which is the only hieroglyph in use is important for researching into the evolution of the character. In the past, processing NaXi Pictograph by hand, that is very inefficient. The NaXi Pictograph information processing modules is developed, such as pictograph Outline Font lib, the input method module, the embedded module and so on. A method of NaXi Pictographs Outline font extraction is proposed, which has been testified better in the Linux. As the specialty of NaXi Pictographs,two input mothods -- NaXi pictographs pinyin and graphic primitive input method are advanced, by evaluating ,which is found that the second is better than the first in precision. For display in web, The web embedding fonts technology of NaXi Pictographs is brought forward, and The web embedding fonts technology of NaXi pictographs makes Internet clients browse NaXi pictographs web without downloading NaXi pictographs font. The development of the NaXi Pictograph Information Processing System is significant to research into NaXi pictographs and apply it.
