Supply Chain Management (SCM): Its Future Implications  [PDF]

This keynote paper represents theory of Supply Chain Management (SCM) and its future implications as well as demonstrates chronological prospective of SCM in terms of time frame in different areas of manufacturing and service industries. SCM has been widely researched in numerous application domains during the last decade. Despite the popularity of SCM research and applications, considerable confusion remains as to its meaning. There are several attempts made by researchers and practitioners to appropriately define SCM. Amidst fierce competition in all industries, SCM has gradually been embraced as a proven managerial approach to achieving sustainable profits and growth. Finally, this study demonstrates Educational Supply Chain Management, as the application of SCM in the service industry, which would unlock other applications of SCM in different arenas. Integrated Tertiary Educational Supply Chain Management (ITESCM) model would be verified through Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) Techniques that would describe in this paper. The ITESCM model furnishes stakeholders of the supply chain with appropriate strategies to review and appraise their performance toward fulfillment of ultimate goals, i.e. producing high-ca- liber graduates and high-impact research outcomes, which represent two main contributions, for the betterment of the society.

Abstract: A new difunctional monomer N,N'-[bis(4,4'-hydroxypropyl methacrylate phenyl ester) pyromellitimide] (BHPMEPM), was synthesized by the reaction of the bis(4-carboxyphenyl)-N,N'-pyromelli- timide acid (diacid-diimide), and two molar equivalents of glycidylmethacrylate (GMA). The reaction was carried out by microwave radiation. The presence of difunctional groups, double bond groups, makes the monomer a potential material for obtaining thermosetting product. The curing and thermal stability of the crosslinked products were studied by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA) techniques. The difunctional monomer and its thermoset polymer were characterized by FT-IR, 1H-FT-NMR and CHN elemental analysis.
Anodic Stripping Voltammetric Determination of Nitrite Using Carbon Paste Electrode Modified with Chitosan  [PDF]

Abstract: A simple method for anodic stripping voltammetric determination of nitrite using carbon paste electrode modified with biomolecular chitosan, is described. In this method, the electrode is activated electrochemically by scanning 5 replicates over the potential range from +500 to +1400 mV immersing in 0.5 M HCl solution. Following this step, the nitrite sample containing 0.1 M KCl is preconcentrated on the activated electrode at +500 mV for 30 s. The deposited anions are then oxidized by different modes of sweep in the oxidation direction. Chemical and electrical parameters affecting the voltammetric measurements are optimized. The peak current is linear proportional to the NO2- concentration within the range 0.41 - 4.1 µg/ml, with detection limit 0.187 µg/m using differential pulse mode. The relative standard deviation is 0.285% for 2.46 µg/ml (five replicates). No interference is observed due to oxygen dissolved in the sample so that nitrogen purging is not needed in this case. The result obtained by the modified electrode is more accurate and selective than the unmodified electrode.

We have developed a model permitting the control of the hemodialysis patient status. We have represented the functioning of each body compartment by a set of differential equations that express the mass balance of the carbonate and bicarbonate concentrations in each one. Experimental data from bibliography were analyzed and compared to our calculus. Results were well satisfying.

Abstract: Factors that sculpture children’s way of thinking are found mostly in the environment where they grow up. These include daily events, memorable experiences and peak feelings. Cartoons are one of the daily habits for our children; studies have proven that an average child with a facility of a TV and a satellite connection at his home watches approximately 18,000 hours of television from kindergarten to high school graduation. How does this experience affect our children minds? Does it have positive or negative effects? What types of contents are delivered to our kids in a cartoonish show? Are all shows trustable, or shall parents pay monitoring attention to the TV shows? How does our children brain absorb and analysis information in the first place? These questions and others will be answered through this survey-experimental research [1] [2].

Abstract: The problem of low vibration energy collection efficiency in the environment is the focus of the current piezoelectric power generation technology. In order to improve the collection efficiency of vibration energy in the environment, a key technology of piezoelectric power generation is studied, which can collect the vibration energy of multiple directions in the environment. Firstly, the mathematical model of piezoelectric cantilever beam is established by using the basic theory of piezoelectric power generation technology, and the vibration mechanics analysis of the piezoelectric cantilever beam is carried out. Then, the finite element simulation of the piezoelectric cantilever beam is carried out by using ANSYS, and the natural frequency is consistent with the ambient vibration/environment frequency; finally, multi-directional piezoelectric power generation device is made, and the theoretical analysis and experimental test are carried out. The experimental results show that the key technology of multidirectional vibration piezoelectric power generation can effectively improve the collection efficiency of vibration energy in the environment.

Abstract: In this paper, we extend the three-term recurrence relation for orthogonal polynomials associated with a probability distribution having a finite moment of all orders to a class of orthogonal functions associated with an infinitely divisible probability distribution µ?having a finite moments of order less or equal to four. An explicit expression of these functions will be given in term of the Lévy-Khintchine function of the measure?µ.

Abstract: This article aims to provide an analysis for a time series data of gross domestic product (GDP) of the Sudan. An econometric time series model with macroeconomic variables is conducted. Since a non-stationary time series must be made stationary, some statistical tests are followed so that the time series become stationary series. After applying these tests, the time series became stationary and integrated of order I. Box-Jenkins procedure is used to determine ARMA. OLS is used to estimate the models parameters. Performances chosen ARIMA model are verified on the basis of classical statistical tests and forecasting. The model features are interpreted on the basis of standard measures of forecasting performance.

Abstract: The aim of this article is to provide residual analysis for a time series data of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the Sudan. An econometric time series model with macroeconomic variables is conducted to examine the goodness of fit using residual. Many statistical tests are used in time series models in order to make it a stationary series. After applying these tests, the time series became stationary and integrated; thus, Box-Jenkins procedure is used for the determination of ARIMA, AR (0,1,0) in this study. This identified technique is useful for analyzing this study.
The Capital Structure of Business Start-Up: Is There a Pecking Order Theory or a Reversed Pecking Order? —Evidence from the Panel Study of Entrepreneurial Dynamics  [PDF]

Using the Panel Study of Entrepreneurial Dynamics, we study if the problems of asymmetry and opacity of information, asset specificity, agency problem and signaling theory predict the financial structure at inception. Thus, we conduct a study in two steps. First, by analyzing the descriptive statistics, we find that novice entrepreneurs turn first to internal sources of finance. Then, they apply to external debts and finally to equity finance. We prove then the applicability of the Pecking order theory in case of entrepreneurial firms. Second, by analyzing the role of financial theory in predicting the capital structure of entrepreneurial firms we find the following results. In fact, evidence from analyzing the role of information opacity, asset specificity and signaling theory, proves that the main source of finance is equity rather than debt. In the majority of the cases, depth interviews show from studying the financial theory an inverted pecking order. Two main reasons for this pattern can be established. First, entrepreneurs consider debt as a personal liability as it requires to be underwritten by personal guarantees. Entrepreneurs place a self-imposed limit on the extent to which they are prepared to mortgage their assets. Second, entrepreneurs deliberately seek out equity investment as a means of obtaining added value. This external equity which has been viewed as expensive is viewed as good value. A well chosen investor can add business skills and social capital in the form of commercial contacts and access to relevant networks.
