Current-induced spin wave excitation in Pt|YIG bilayer

Abstract: We develop a self-consistent theory for current-induced spin wave excitations in normal metal-magnetic insulator bilayer systems, thereby establishing the relation between spin wave excitation and the experimentally controlled parameters. We fully take into account the complex spin wave spectrum including dipolar interactions and surface anisotropy as well as the spin-pumping at the interface. Our results focus on the mode-dependent power close to the critical currents for spin wave excitation. The major findings are (a) the spin transfer torque can excite different spin-wave modes simultaneously; (b) spin pumping counterbalances spin-transfer torque and affects the surface modes more than the bulk modes; (c) spin pumping inhibits high frequency spin-wave modes, thereby redshifting the excitation spectrum. We can get agreement with experiments on yttrium iron garnet|platinum bilayers by postulating the existence of surface anisotropy modes.
A Novel Method of Aspect Ratio Conversion Based on Region of Interest

Abstract: Based on the fact that the human visual system is sensitive to the moving objects,a novel Aspect Ratio Conversion(ARC) method was proposed for the format conversion between different aspect ratios.In the new ARC algorithm,the spatio-temporal information was integrated to separate the moving objects from the video sequences,and the image inpainting technique was used to restore the background.Interpolation method was employed to scale the moving objects and restored background in different ratios respectively.And,the scaled moving objects and background were merged into a new image with proper aspect ratio.The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed ARC method avoids the distortion of moving objects and achieves better perception effect.

Abstract: With the emergence of HDTV, the application of aspect ratio conversion (ARC) is getting wider in related fields. In this paper, a new aspect ratio conversion algorithm is proposed based on human visual perception. To start with, the fuzzy cluster algorithm based on the modified partition fuzzy degree algorithm is applied to cluster motion vectors adaptively, and then the image motion center of gravity (MCOG) is estimated based on the clustering result. Moreover, to solve the dithering artifact, a splitting region approach based on MCOG and center region of image is developed. Finally, different regions of image are scaled with different ratios. Experimental results illustrate that the proposed method has good consistency with the human visual perception and show its superiority.
Cold cesium molecules produced directly in a magneto-optical trap

Abstract: We report on the observation of ultracold ground electric-state cesium molecules produced directly in a magneto- optical trap with a good signal-to-noise ratio. These molecules arise from the photoassociation of magneto-optical trap lasers and they are detected by resonantly enhanced multiphoton ionization technology. The production rate of ultracold cesium molecules is up to 4×104 s-1. We measure the characteristic time of the ground electric-state cesium molecules generated in the experiment and investigate the Cs2+ molecular ion intensity as a function of the trapping laser intensity and the ionization pulse laser energy. We conclude that the production of cold cesium molecules may be enhanced by using appropriate experimental parameters, which is useful for future experiments involving the production and trapping of ultracold ground electric-state molecules.

Bone morphogenetic protein-15 in follicle fluid combined with age may differentiate between successful and unsuccessful poor ovarian responders

Abstract: Background The counselling of poor ovarian responders about the probability of pregnancy remains a puzzle for gynaecologists. The aim of this study was to optimise the management of poor responders by investigating the role of the oocyte-derived factor bone morphogenetic protein-15 (BMP-15) combined with chronological age in the prediction of the outcome of in-vitro fertilisation-embryo transfer (IVF-ET) in poor responders. Methods A retrospective study conducted in a university hospital. A total of 207 poor ovarian responders who reached the ovum pick-up stage undergoing IVF/intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) with three or fewer follicles no less than 14 mm on the day of oocyte retrieval were recruited from July 1, 2008 to December 31, 2009. Another 215 coinstantaneous cycles with normal responses were selected as controls. The BMP-15 levels in the follicular fluid (FF) of the 207 poor responders were analysed by western blot. Based on the FF BMP-15 level and age, poor responders were sub-divided into four groups. The main outcome measures were the FF BMP-15 level, implantation rate, pregnancy rate, and live birth rate. Results The implantation rate (24.2% vs. 15.3%), chemical pregnancy rate (40% vs. 23.7%), clinical pregnancy rate (36.5% vs. 20.4%) and live birth rate (29.4% vs. 15.1%) in the high BMP-15 group were significantly higher than those in the low BMP-15 group. Furthermore, poor responders aged less than or equal to 35 years with a higher FF BMP-15 level had the best implantation, pregnancy and live birth rates, which were comparable with those of normal responders. Conclusions Our study suggests a potential role of BMP-15 in the prediction of the IVF outcome. A high FF BMP-15 combined with an age less than or equal to 35 years may be used as a potential indicator for repeating IVF cycles in poor ovarian responders.

Abstract: The paper propose test statistics based on Cauchy estimation for unit root with periodical heteroscedastic shocks in seasonal time series.Under null hypothesis,the limit distributions of statistics are standard normal regardless of the period of seasonality and periodical heteroscedasticity of shocks.By Monte Carlo simulation,it is obtained that the estimators have smaller errors by this method than LSE when the autoregressive coefficient is close to 1.Simulations and a real example show the convenience and validity of this test method.
Challenge in pathologic diagnosis of Alport syndrome: evidence from correction of previous misdiagnosis

Abstract: Background Pathologic studies play an important role in evaluating patients with Alport syndrome besides genotyping. Difficulties still exist in diagnosing Alport syndrome (AS), and misdiagnosis is a not-so-rare event, even in adult patient evaluated with renal biopsy. Methods We used nested case–control study to investigate 52 patients previously misdiagnosed and 52 patients initially diagnosed in the China Alport Syndrome Treatments and Outcomes Registry e-system. Results We found mesangial proliferative glomerulonephritis (MsPGN, 26.9%) and focal and segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS, 19.2%) were the most common misdiagnosis. FSGS was the most frequent misdiagnosis in female X-linked AS (fXLAS) patients (34.8%), and MsPGN in male X-linked AS (mXLAS) patients (41.2%). Previous misdiagnosed mXLAS patients (13/17, 76.5%) and autosomal recessive AS (ARAS) patients (8/12, 66.7%) were corrected after a second renal biopsy. While misdiagnosed fXLAS patients (18/23, 78.3%) were corrected after a family member diagnosed (34.8%) or after rechecking electronic microscopy and/or collagen-IV alpha-chains immunofluresence study (COL-IF) (43.5%) during follow-up. With COL-IF as an additional criterion for AS diagnosis, we found that patients with less than 3 criteria reached have increased risk of misdiagnosis (3.29-fold for all misdiagnosed AS patients and 3.90-fold for fXLAS patients). Conclusion We emphasize timely and careful study of electronic microscopy and COL-IF in pathologic evaluation of AS patients. With renal and/or skin COL-IF as additional criterion, 3 diagnosis criteria reached are the cutoff for diagnosing AS pathologically.

Abstract: In the crystal structure of the title complex, [Tb(C6H4NO2)(C2O4)(H2O)2]n, the TbIII ion is coordinated by two O atoms from two isonicotinate (inic) anions, four O atoms of two oxalate anions, and two water molecules, displaying a distorted square-antiprismatic geometry. The TbIII ion, the inic anion and the water molecules occupy general positions. One of the two crystallographically independent oxalate anions is located on a center of inversion, whereas the second is located on the twofold rotation axis. The carboxylate groups of the inic and oxalate anions link the terbium metal centres into layers. These layers are connected by O—H...O and N—H...O hydrogen bonding into a three-dimensional network.
Production Performance Diagnosis of Manufacturing Workshop based on Fuzzy-Gray Correlation Degree Evaluation

Abstract: The need for manufacturing enterprises to explore the shortcomings of their workshop production performance has become aggrandized as the fierce competition in manufacturing industry. The traditional evaluation of the production performance focused on the contrast of different enterprises. However, the problems of the worse workshops or enterprises are still unknown. Many manufacturing enterprises not only want to find out the competitive position of their workshop, but also want to find out the problems in their workshop and then improve them to enhance the production performance. This study built a Fuzzy-Gray Correlation Degree (FGCD) evaluation model based on rough set to aid enterprise to detect the problems in workshops. The FGCD model provided a comprehensive evaluation indicators system to present the competitiveness of the workshop from different views. In order to present an objective and accurate model for manufacturing enterprises, a combined empowerment method based on rough set theory for indicators has been applied. Finally, the case was used to support the available of production performance diagnosis of workshop. The model can determine the condition of production performance from different indicators and diagnose the corresponding workshop problems in manufacturing process.
