First law of thermodynamics and Friedmann-like equations in braneworld cosmology

Abstract: We derive the Friedmann-like equations in braneworld cosmology by imposing the first law of thermodynamics and Bekenstein's area-entropy formula on the apparent horizon of a Friedmann-Roberston-Walker universe in both Randall-Sundrum II gravity and Dvali-Gabadadze-Porrati gravity models. Israel's boundary condition plays an important role in our calculations in both cases, besides the first law of thermodynamics and Bekenstein's area-entropy formula. The results indicate that thermodynamics on the brane world knows the behaviors of gravity.
Strong decays of the newly observed $D(2550)$, $D(2600)$, $D(2750)$, and $D(2760)$

Abstract: The strong decay properties of the newly observed $D(2550)$, $D(2600)$, $D(2750)$ and $D(2760)$ are studied in a constituent quark model. It is predicted that the $D(2760)$ and $D(2750)$ seem to be two overlapping resonances. The $D(2760)$ could be identified as the $1^3D_3$ with $J^P=3^-$, while the $D(2750)$ is most likely to be the high-mass mixed state $|1{D_2}'>_H$ ($J^P=2^-$) via the $1^1D_2$-$1^3D_2$ mixing. The $D(2600)$ favors the low-mass mixed state $|(SD)_1>_L$ $(J^P=1^-)$ via the $1^3D_1$-$2^3S_1$ mixing. The $D(2550)$ as the $2^1S_0$ assignment bears controversies for its too broad width given in experiments.

Abstract: In order to study the relationship between the sensitivity of heart to isoprenaline and the Approximate Entropy(ApEn) of heart rate variability, ApEn of RRI (RR interval) in different conditions were analyzed. The results showed that when atropine was used, the ApEn of RRI were decreased and that the responses to 0.2 μg/kg,0.4 μg/kg,0.6 μg/kg of isoprenaline were greater in normal condition than in condition atropine being used. The difference between them was statistically significant(P<0.05). When the effect of atropine partly disappeared, the response to isoprenaline recovered to some degree. It is concluded that the larger complexity of RRI, the greater response to isoprenaline. The hypothesis that nonperiodic firings in excitable cells, tissue or organ have greater sensitivity to stimuli than periodic firings activity does is further confirmed.

Abstract: The research on land use/cover and its driving force is one of the main research subjects worldwide.The land use for rural residency is an important type of land use because of its quantity and scale,which is more than 6 times of the scale in city and town.Moreover,most of the rural settlements surround by the high quality cultivated land,so the sprawl of rural settlements is more threatening to the cultivated land than the extension of city and town.One of the outstanding problems of land use is that the scale of rural settlements has not been decreased with the urbanization.In fact,it is increasing quickly.So the study on the changes of land use rural residency and their driving forces is important for protecting cultivated land and accelerating the new rural construction and rural development theoretically and realistically.First of all,the driving forces of land use change for rural residency were explained in the paper.Natural factors and socio-economic factors,and the socio-economic factors would be paid more attention because the effects of natural factors have little influence on rural residential land within a relatively short time.Then,the Xiantao City in Hubei province was taken as an example to study the changes of land use for rural settlements and the driving forces based on the land conversion data and socio-economic statistic data from 1996 to 2004.The results showed that the quantity of rural residential land has decreased 172.59 hm~2 for the past 8 years in Xiantao City,and the land use intensity was low.Per capital land area for rural settlement was 171.76m~2,exceeding the average criterion of 21.76m~2 in China.By the factors analysis,the main driving forces of land use for rural settlements were analyzed,including the economic development and urbanization,the development of science and technology and the policy factors.The regression method was set up based on the main three driving forces of the rural residential land use changes.At the end,some valuable conclusions and recommendations were put forward based on the analysis aforementioned.
Charmed baryon strong decays in a chiral quark model

Abstract: Charmed baryon strong decays are studied in a chiral quark model. The data for the decays of $\Lambda^+_c(2593)$, $\Lambda^+_c(2625)$, $\Sigma^{++,+,0}_c$ and $\Sigma^{+,0}_c(2520)$, are accounted for successfully, which allows to fix the pseudoscalar-meson-quark couplings in an effective chiral Lagrangian. Extending this framework to analyze the strong decays of the newly observed charmed baryons, we classify that both $\Lambda_c(2880)$ and $\Lambda_c(2940)$ are $D$-wave states in the N=2 shell; $\Lambda_c(2880)$ could be $|\Lambda_c ^2 D_{\lambda\lambda}{3/2}^+>$ and $\Lambda_c(2940)$ could be $|\Lambda_c ^2 D_{\lambda\lambda}{5/2}^+>$. Our calculation also suggests that $\Lambda_c(2765)$ is very likely a $\rho$-mode $P$-wave excited state in the N=1 shell, and favors a $|\Lambda_c ^4P_\rho 1/2^->$ configuration. The $\Sigma_c(2800)$ favors being a $|\Sigma_c ^2P_\lambda{1/2}^->$ state. But its being $|\Sigma^{++}_c ^4 P_\lambda{5/2}^->$ cannot be ruled out.
Quantum Entanglement and Teleportation in Higher Dimensional Black Hole Spacetimes

Abstract: We study the properties of quantum entanglement and teleportation in the background of stationary and rotating curved space-times with extra dimensions. We show that a maximally entangled Bell state in an inertial frame becomes less entangled in curved space due to the well-known Hawking-Unruh effect. The degree of entanglement is found to be degraded with increasing the extra dimensions. For a finite black hole surface gravity, the observer may choose higher frequency mode to keep high level entanglement. The fidelity of quantum teleporation is also reduced because of the Hawking-Unruh effect. We discuss the fidelity as a function of extra dimensions, mode frequency, black hole mass and black hole angular momentum parameter for both bosonic and fermionic resources.

The $K^-p\to Σ^0π^0$ reaction at low energies in a chiral quark model

Abstract: A chiral quark-model approach is extended to the study of the $\bar{K}N$ scattering at low energies. The process of $K^-p\to \Sigma^0\pi^0$ at $P_K\lesssim 800$ MeV/c (i.e. the center mass energy $W\lesssim 1.7$ GeV) is investigated. This approach is successful in describing the differential cross sections and total cross section with the roles of the low-lying $\Lambda$ resonances in $n=1$ shells clarified. The $\Lambda(1405)S_{01}$ dominates the reactions over the energy region considered here. Around $P_K\simeq 400$ MeV/c, the $\Lambda(1520)D_{03}$ is responsible for a strong resonant peak in the cross section. The $\Lambda(1670)S_{01}$ has obvious contributions around $P_K=750$ MeV/c, while the contribution of $\Lambda(1690)D_{03}$ is less important in this energy region. The non-resonant background contributions, i.e. $u$-channel and $t$-channel, also play important roles in the explanation of the angular distributions due to amplitude interferences.
$η$ photoproduction on the quasi-free nucleons in the chiral quark model

Abstract: A chiral quark-model approach is adopted to study the $\eta$ photoproduction off the quasi-free neutron and proton from a deuteron target. Good descriptions of the differential cross sections, total cross sections and beam asymmetries for these two processes are obtained in the low energy region. For $\gamma p\rightarrow \eta p$, the dominant resonances are $S_{11}(1535)$, $S_{11}(1650)$, $D_{13}(1520)$, $D_{13}(1700)$ and $P_{13}(1720)$. While for the $\gamma n\rightarrow \eta n$ process, the dominant resonances are $S_{11}(1535)$, $S_{11}(1650)$, $D_{13}(1520)$, $D_{15}(1675)$ and $P_{13}(1720)$. Furthermore, the $u$ channel backgrounds have significant contributions to the $\eta$ photoproduction processes. The configuration mixings in the $S_{11}(1535,1650)$ and $D_{13}(1520,1700)$ can be extracted, i.e. $\theta_S\simeq 26^\circ$ and $\theta_D\simeq 21^\circ$. It shows that the narrow bump-like structure around $W= 1.68$ GeV observed in $\gamma n\rightarrow \eta n$ can be naturally explained by the constructive interferences between $S_{11}(1535)$ and $S_{11}(1650)$. In contrast, the destructive interference between $S_{11}(1535)$ and $S_{11}(1650)$ produces the shallow dip around $W= 1.67$ GeV in $\gamma p\rightarrow \eta p$. The $S$ wave interfering behaviors in the proton and neutron reactions are correlated with each other in the quark model framework, and no new exotic nucleon resonances are needed in these two reactions.
