Flowering Characteristics and Fertility of Common Wild Rice in Danzhou, Hainan, China

Abstract: 对海南儋州普通野生稻(Oryza rufipogon Griff.)的开花习性、花粉育性和结实率进行了研究.结果表明:海南儋州普通野生稻居群在原生境的开花时间为10月初到12月初;晴天开花时间主要集中在11:30-11:50,最适开花的气温为29.84±2.27℃,相对湿度为53.33±6.63%,阴天开花时间要推迟20-30 min;每朵颖花从开颖到闭颖历时70-100 min,颖花开放历时10-20 s,50-60 s之后开始散粉,闭颖约需要1 h.花时与风速呈负相关,与温度呈正相关.单穗可育率大于50%的居多.结实率介于0-45%,其中多数小于10%.此居群与当地常规稻的开花有一定的差异,初步提出了对此居群普通野生稻原生境资源的合理利用和有效保护的策略.

Physical design of a wavelength tunable fully coherent VUV source using self-seeding free electron laser

Abstract: In order to meet requirements of the synchrotron radiation users, a fully coherent VUV free electron laser (FEL) has been preliminarily designed. One important goal of this design is that the radiation wavelength can be easily tuned in a broad range (70-170 nm). In the light of the users' demand and our actual conditions, the self-seeding scheme is adopted for this proposal. Firstly, we attempt fixing the electron energy and only changing the undulator gap to varying the radiation wavelength, but the analysis implies that it is difficult because of the great difference of the power gain length and FEL efficiency at different wavelength. Therefore, dividing the wavelength range into three subareas is considered. In each subarea, a constant electron energy is used and the wavelength tuning is realized only by adjusting the undulator gap. The simulation results shows that this scheme has an acceptable performance.
All-Optical Control of Light Group Velocity with a Cavity Optomechanical System

Abstract: We theoretically demonstrate complete all-optical control of light group velocity via a cavity optomechanical system composed of an optical cavity and a mechanical resonator. The realization depends on no specific materials inside the cavity, and the control of light group velocity stems from the interaction between the signal light and the moving optical diffraction grating within the cavity in analogy to the stimulated Brillouin scattering(SBS). Furthermore, we show that a tunable switch from slow light to fast light can be achieved only by simply adjusting the pump-cavity detuning. The scheme proposed here will open a novel way to control light velocity by all-optical methods in optomechanical systems.
Effects of TFAR19 gene on the in vivo biorheological properties and pathogenicity of mouse erythroleukemia cell line MEL

Abstract: After injecting VP16, MEL cells and MEL-TF19 cells into the body of mice, with those injected with the same dose of saline as the control group, we observed the mice for their blood pictures, histological changes of the liver and spleen, and the hemorhelogical indexes within 4 weeks. The results indicated that after injecting MEL cells, the mice entered into a pathological status similar to erythroleukemia, which had the following exhibitions: the tissue structures of the liver and spleen were damaged, a mass of proerythroblasts, basophil erythroblasts and polychromatophilic erythroblasts could be observed on the smears of the bone marrow and spleen, and the deformability and orientation ability of erythrocytes were both depressed. The pathogenicity of MEL-TF19 cells carrying TFAR19 gene was obviously lower than that of MEL cells, and the MEL-TF19 cells even lost their faintish pathogenicity under the apoptosis-inducing effect of the chemotherapeutic reagent. The outcome from the animal experiments suggests that the TFAR19 gene suppresses the pathogenicity of MEL cells to the mice, and the effect may be better exerted with the synergy of the chemotherapeutic reagent.
Harmonics suppression effect of the quasi-periodic undulator in SASE free-electron-laser

Abstract: In this paper, the harmonics suppression effect of QPUs in SASE FEL is investigated. The numerical results show that the harmonics power is reduced by using QPUs, but the fundamental radiation power also has a pronounced decrease as the saturation length gets very long. The cases of employing QPUs as parts of undulators are studied. The calculations show that if the fraction of QPUs and their offgap are appropriate in an undulator system, the harmonics radiation could be suppressed remarkably, meanwhile the fundamental saturation length does not increase too much.
Compact narrow-band THz radiation source based on photocathode rf gun

Abstract: Narrow-band THz coherent Cherenkov radiation can be driven by a subpicosecond electron bunch traveling along the axis of a hollow cylindrical dielectric-lined waveguide. We present a scheme of compact THz radiation source based on the photocathode rf gun. On the basis of our analytic result, the subpicosecond electron bunch with high charge (800pC) can be generated directly in the photocathode rf gun. A narrow emission spectrum peaked at 0.24 THz with 2 megawatt (MW) peak power is expected to gain in the proposed scheme (the length of the facility is about 1.2 m), according to the analytical and simulated results.
Velocity bunching in travelling wave accelerator with low acceleration gradient

Abstract: We present the analytical and simulated results concerning the influences of the acceleration gradient in the velocity bunching process, which is a bunch compression scheme that uses a traveling wave accelerating structure as a compressor. Our study shows that the bunch compression application with low acceleration gradient is more tolerant to phase jitter and more successful to obtain compressed electron beam with symmetrical longitudinal distribution and low energy spread. We also present a transverse emittance compensation scheme to compensate the emittance growth caused by the increasing of the space charge force in the compressing process that is easy to be adjusted for different compressing factors.
Improved step-by-step chromaticity compensation method for chromatic sextupole optimization

Abstract: The step-by-step chromaticity compensation method for chromatic sextupole optimization and dynamic aperture increase was proposed by E. Levichev and P. Piminov (E. Levichev and P. Piminov, 2006 [1]). Although this method can be used to enlarge the dynamic aperture of storage ring, it has some drawbacks. In this paper, we combined this method with evolutionary computation algorithms, and proposed an improved version of this method. In the improved method, the drawbacks are avoided, and thus better optimization results can be obtained.
Gender differences in allocation choices made by children aged 5 to 6

Abstract: The main aim of this article is to supplement gaps in current knowledge concerning the development of competences related to goods allocation choices. We conducted a study in which 158 children aged 5 to 6 made choices concerning allocations of goods between themselves and the other, anonymous child. The crucial findings point to boys as more selfish in their choices than girls. Furthermore, we provide evidence for the claim that young children (especially boys) are aware that their choices are egoistic. Since our study adopted a similar methodology to that of the recent Swiss study, we were able to conduct cross-cultural analysis. The comparison of children's choices in the Polish study and the Swiss one pictures Polish children as displaying a stronger egalitarian preferences and revealing egoistic preferences less frequently than the children from Switzerland.
