Abstract: This article analyzes the problem of the emergence of authoring features in two compositions produced in the context of the vestibular. From this brief analysis, we built a discussion that calls us to reflect about the necessity always attributed to producers, when they have to write texts below an injunction. After all, even if nothing, at first, we know about subject (the authorship), we always claim that this function happen in any text; indeed, it making necessary now, carefully, observe your implications, especially, for teaching of languages.

Abstract: this study was performed in order to determine the frequency of bovine viral diarrhea virus (bvdv), and the main factors related to the frequency of the infection in dairy cows not vaccinated against bvdv from maranhense amazon region. serum samples were submitted to an indirect elisa test for detection of bvdv antibodies. an epidemiological questionnaire was applied for each herd to investigate variables that could beassociated with this infection. serum samples were collected from 40 farms, with or without clinical signs of bvdv infection. from 400 serum samples examined, 61.5% (n=246) in 95% (n=38) of the herds were positive for elisa. variables identified as risk factors such as milk production (1-5l), absence of veterinary assistance, use of natural breeding or natural breeding associated with artificial insemination. these risk factors presented statistical significance (p<0.05) associated to bvdv infection. these results indicate that bvdv infection is high in the studied region and that factors related to the herd characteristic and management were associated with the risk of infection by bvdv.

Abstract: background: spinal intramedullary ependymoma is a rare disease with a wide range of clinical presentation, generally requiring surgical treatment. objective: report our experience and present our surgical technique to achieve total resection and cure. method: we present 12 consecutive cases of intramedullary ependymomas operated between 2000 and 2008 by the senior author (ht). the functional scale proposed by mccormick was used to evaluate the patients' neurological status. results: age at presentation varied from 18 to 55 (average 36) years. all tumors had a benign histology. four (33%) patients were male and eight (67%) were female. according to the site of presentation, six (50%) were localized at the cervical region (including two at the cervicomedullary junction, two at the cervico-thoracic junction and two exclusively at the cervical level), four at the thoracic level and two at the conus/ cauda equina. dyshestesia was a common finding at the neurological exam in eight patients (67%). total resection was achieved in all cases. six patients showed neurological improvement postoperatively, whereas the other six remained stable. conclusion: adequate knowledge of anatomy and the correct use of microsurgical techniques allowed total resection of these tumors with minimal morbidity and maximum functional recovery.

Abstract: objectives: to report an experience and to present a surgical technique to achieve total resection and cure. methods: nine consecutive cases of intramedullary haemangioblastomas, operated between 2000 and 2008 are presented. the functional scale proposed by mccormick was used to evaluate the patients' neurological status. results: age at presentation varied from 13 to 45 (average 27.1) years. four (44.4%) patients were male and five (55.5%), female. two patients had an associated von hippel-lindau disease, with others haemangioblastomas. according to the site of presentation, seven (77.7%) were localized at the cervical region (including two at the cervico-medullary junction), and two (22.2%) at the thoracic level. total resection was achieved in all cases. three patients had some functional worsening immediately after surgical procedure. after six months, there were no patients with functional worsening comparing with the pre-operative status and two patients had clinical improvement. conclusions: adequate knowledge of anatomy and the correct use of microsurgical techniques allowed total resection of these tumors with minimal morbidity and maximum functional recovery.
An interdisciplinary perspective on dietary supplements: reconfiguration of professional roles within new trends of therapeutic consumptions

Saúde & Transforma??o Social , 2011,
Abstract: The current role that dietary supplements have been playing under new logic of supply and consumption of therapeutic resources, is a fact that reveals the emergence of new phenomena that generate major reconfigurations to the social dimension of new practices around these resources, with implications for the professional role of pharmacy practitioners. In this new framework, in which new realities are emerging as a professional response to these phenomena, the interdisciplinary outlook that we develop aims to raise some critical questions concerning the development of new roles in pharmacy practitioners in counseling and health education. We assert that this goal will scarcely be more than just a normative horizon, if unable to integrate the nature of sociological approaches on important reconfiguration of the dynamics of lay autonomy and reflexivity that have been occurring in terms of health management and therapeutic consumptions.

Abstract: steel is becoming a very important constructive element in brazil's civil construction, because of the steel structure advantages presented. adding all these advantages together with good design, buildings in metallic structure are becoming an effective system with the additional gain of earlier building occupation. in order to correctly select the insulation panels, it is necessary to observe both the constructive details and their thermal performance. this work presents the results of a comparative study on the thermal performance of several closing systems existing in the brazilian market intended for small buildings using metallic structures for the usiteto housing program. in this study, climate architectural principles, material properties as well as external and internal heat sources regarding the analyzed environment were taken into consideration. computational simulations using the esp-r program were performed and the results allow to determine which type of insulation element is the best to obtain the ideal thermal comfort for the users.
The influence of light intensity on anatomical structure and pigment contents of Tradescantia pallida (Rose) Hunt. cv. purpurea Boom (Commelinaceae) leaves

Abstract: the aim of this work was to study the effects of five different light intensities on the anatomical structure and on the pigment contents in leaves of tradescantia pallida cv. purpurea. once light intensity became lower, the thickness of leaf lamina and mesophyll were reduced. adjustments in light-harvesting antenna size were observed: an increase in chlorophyll a + b/carotenoids ratio at low-light growth conditions. there was a strong positive linear correlation between the light intensity values and anthocyanin contents. hence, t. pallida cv. purpurea acclimation to distinct environmental conditions might be related to its capacity of altering structurally and physiologically its phenotype.

Pesquisa Agropecuária Brasileira , 2001,
Abstract: Extrafloral nectaries (EFNs) are structurally variable and widely spread among the angiosperms. The occurrence of EFNs in leaves of Pterodon polygalaeflorus Benth. and Pterodon pubescens Benth. (Fabaceae: Papilionoideae) were detected in adult specimens, at the time of production of new buds and flowers. The goals of the present study are to register the occurrence of the EFNs in P. pubescens and P. polygalaeflorus, and provide comparative data on the anatomical structures. The EFNs occur in the rachis and are located under the insertion of each petiolule. Each nectary consists of a small elevation whose apical portion is deeply invaginated, resulting in a depression (secretory pole), a common characteristic of both species. Unicellular, nonglandular trichomes occur along the rachis, being less numerous in P. polygalaeflorus while in P. pubescens they cover the EFNs. The secretory tissue consists of parenchyma cells with dense cytoplasm compactly arranged. The nectar reaches the surface of the EFNs by rupturing the thin cuticle which covers the secretory pole, since both species lack stomata or any other interruption at the epidermis. The basic difference between the two species, in relation to the EFNs, is the density of the pubescence, which is always greater in P. pubescens. Structural and dimensional modifications may be observed, even between basal and apical nectaries in the same rachis, so it does not constitute a taxonomical tool.
