Revista Cubana de Pediatr?-a , 2011,
Abstract: the periodic hyperpotassemia paralysis is a striated muscle channelopathy characterized by recurrent episodes of muscular asthenia that may to be triggered by exercise, cold, not rest after exercise and potassium support. this the case of a female patient aged 13 diagnosed with hyperpotassemia periodic paralysis without family backgrounds of this entity and also without associated myotonia. the seizures of muscular asthenia occurred almost daily and each 2 or 3 days with a variable length from a half hour to 24 to 48 hours. during a episode of muscular asthenia there were blood potassium concentrations of 7,14 mmol/l and the electromyogram showed a myopathic pattern. there was a frequency decrease of episodes of muscular asthenia at 2 months of treatment onset with oral acetazolamide.

Abstract: The article analyses the role of the Prosecutor’s Office in applying the complementarity principle through its preliminary examinations during the first ten years of the International Criminal Court. It underlies the important role that the ICC has started playing within the International Community, the need for a different strategy for each of the situations under analysis by the ICC Office of the Prosecutor, and the significant role of the preliminary examinations to strengthen national courts and rule of law in the states concerned

Revista Cubana de Hematolog?-a, Inmunolog?-a y Hemoterapia , 2010,
Abstract: the degenerative joint disease, also known as osteoarthrosis affects to 10% of elderlies aged 60. it is mainly characterized by pain in the involved joint, crepitation, morning stiff and a progressive limitation of movement of that joint leading to a partial or total wear of articular cartilage. the treatment of the knee osteoarthrosis is a great challenge. the recent advances in use of regenerative medicine suggest that adult stem cells could represent a promisor alternative in the treatment of this entity. in a female patient aged 61 presenting with knee osteoarthrosis authors placed a percutaneous implant of autologous mononuclear cells mobilized to peripheral blood by granulocyte colony-stimulating factor achieving a fast clinical and radiological improvement. this result suggests that the procedure used is a feasible, simple, safe and less expensive method for treatment of articular degenerative lesions.
Nefroureterectomía simplificada y oncológicamente segura: combinación con sección-ligadura ureteral percutánea

Archivos Espa?oles de Urología (Ed. impresa) , 2008, DOI: 10.4321/S0004-06142008000400009
Abstract: objectives: we propose a modification to open nephroureterectomy. methods: by a single incision (lumbar incision) a percutaneous ligation-section of the finely dissected terminal ureter is performed. results/conclusions: this technique offers a better quality of life in the immediate postoperative period, shortens the surgical time, and it has the advantage of being oncologically safe, avoiding a double surgery.
DETERMINATION OF THE ISOSTERIC HEAT TO PLANTAIN PULP (musa paradisiaca) BY SORPTION ISOTHERMS

DYNA , 2008,
Abstract: for sorptional data to be useful in simulation and design of storage and drying systems, they must be represented by equations valid in the conditions usually found in industrial practice. using the modified chung-pfost model and fitted by desorption the net and total isosteric heat of plantain pulp was evaluated. the net isosteric heat decreased with increasing moisture content ranging from 1670 kj/kg (5%.d.b) to 215 kj/kg (26%.d.b) where the better goodness of fit was presented by polynomial and power-law models.

DYNA , 2008,
Pozo Alonso,Albia; Pozo Lauzán,Desiderio; Pozo Alonso,Desi;
Revista Cubana de Pediatr?-a , 1999,
Abstract: is is reported that epilepsy of childhood with occipital paroxysms is an epileptic syndrome that is well defined. it is included in the group of related idiopathic epilepsies with localization. seizures habitually begin with visual symptoms, which are ocassionally followed by hemiclonic, complex partial, and generalized tonicclonic seizures. the interictal eeg shows spike-wave complexes of occipital and temporal posterior localization that are suppressed by eye opening. a patient aged 8 in whom the clinical and electroencephalographic criteria of epilepsy of childhood with occipital paroxysms are present is studied in this paper. emphasis is made on the apparently benign evolution of this syndrome.

Is is reported that epilepsy of childhood with occipital paroxysms is an epileptic syndrome that is well defined.
