Abstract: The article analyses the role of the Prosecutor’s Office in applying the complementarity principle through its preliminary examinations during the first ten years of the International Criminal Court. It underlies the important role that the ICC has started playing within the International Community, the need for a different strategy for each of the situations under analysis by the ICC Office of the Prosecutor, and the significant role of the preliminary examinations to strengthen national courts and rule of law in the states concerned

DETERMINATION OF THE ISOSTERIC HEAT TO PLANTAIN PULP (musa paradisiaca) BY SORPTION ISOTHERMS

DYNA , 2008,
Abstract: for sorptional data to be useful in simulation and design of storage and drying systems, they must be represented by equations valid in the conditions usually found in industrial practice. using the modified chung-pfost model and fitted by desorption the net and total isosteric heat of plantain pulp was evaluated. the net isosteric heat decreased with increasing moisture content ranging from 1670 kj/kg (5%.d.b) to 215 kj/kg (26%.d.b) where the better goodness of fit was presented by polynomial and power-law models.

DYNA , 2008,
Hernández Garcés,Héctor Rubén; Pi?ol Jiménez,Felipe; Paniagua Estévez,Manuel;
Revista Cubana de Farmacia , 2008,
Abstract: a non-blind randomized experimental study was undertaken. it included 30 adults of both sexes with diagnosis of alkaline chronic gastritis due to duodenogastric reflux, in stomach resections (billroth i, billroth ii), by upper endoscopy, with elevated total biliary acids and positive helicobacter pylori. these patients were divided into 2 groups of treatment during 8 weeks. the group a was composed of 15 patients and received treatment with colloidal bismuth subcitrate (q-ulcer), metronidazole and tetracycline, plus ranitidine as h2 antihistaminic. the group b was made up of 15 patients and it was administered microcrystalline cellulose (microcel). metoclopramide was given to both groups as a prokinetic drug during the whole treatment. the indexes for the eradication of h. pylori infection were 46.7 % for group a, and 42.9 % for group b. the concentration of total biliary acids at the end of the treatment decreased in 53.3 % of the patients from group a and in 71.4 % in group b. the concentration of total biliary acids in the gastric residue at the end of the treatment did not influence on the clinical, endoscopic and histological evaluation of the patients in both treatment schemes. no adverse secondary effects were observed in the patients from group a. one patient (6.6 %) from group b left the study because its clinical picture got worse. he underwent surgery and it was considered a failure of the treatment. it was concluded that these therapeutic schemes were not efficient

No existía reflujo biliar. 632 gastric brush cytologies taken by endoscopy from adult patients with chronic gastritis and/or gastric ulcer in order to diagnose Helicobacter pylori were observed. In a patient with gastric ulcer, the urease test was positive, whereas the H. pylori cytology was negative. Other spiral bacteria that had been only found in literature were detected, measured and photographed. Gastropirillum hominis was reported. The patient received treatment with Q-ulcer, metronidazole, tetracycline and metroclopramide. 2 months later, the endoscopy was repeated and ulcer had disappeared. A slightly more acute chronic gastritis was reported then. There was no biliary reflux. Urease was negative and the bacteria described in the previous sample were not found.
Tratamiento en pacientes operados de estómago con ácidos biliares elevados y Helicobacter pylori positivo Treatment in patients operated on of the stomach with elevated biliary acids and positive Helicobacter pylori
