Quatro temas fundamentais do pensamento neoconservador em política externa
Teixeira, Carlos Gustavo Poggio;
Revista Brasileira de Política Internacional , 2007, DOI: 10.1590/S0034-73292007000200006
Abstract: using a wide array of texts written by neo-conservatives, this article identifies the basic elements of neoconservative thought in foreign policy. the selection of themes was based on two main factors: their relevance and their presence throughout a period of time.
Brazil and the institutionalization of South America: from hemispheric estrangement to cooperative hegemony
Teixeira, Carlos Gustavo Poggio;
Revista Brasileira de Política Internacional , 2011, DOI: 10.1590/S0034-73292011000200010
Abstract: this article argues that brazil went from a posture of estrangement in relation to the hemispheric project represented by the free trade area of the americas (ftaa) to a strategy of cooperative hegemony aimed at institutionalizing the south american space and increasing the costs of the ftaa for the united states. although brazil was initially isolated, us lack of leadership combined with events at the subregional level ended up turning the tide in the direction of brazilian interests. these factors help to understand the current institutional configuration of south america.

Abstract: ilex paraguariensis and i. dumosa are species with great economic relevance in argentina. both species share several features of their biology, though they differ in phytochemical composition and in their resistance to biotic and abiotic factors. the aim of the present work is to evaluate the structure of the genetic diversity of the plants kept at the germplasm bank of yerba mate (eeintaca) and also of commercial materials of yerba mate, through a re-analysis of aflp data and a characterization of the nucleotide sequences of selected aflp bands. for i. dumosa we have detected a molecular variation level two times higher than the value obtained for i. paraguariensis and a lower number of diagnostic bands in respect to the latter species. reported nucleotide sequences, characterized using bioinformatic tools, are new sequences for the genus ilex. our results suggest that specimens of i. dumosa studied herein represent an interesting reservoir of genetic variability, highly adequate for improvement of yerba mate lines. moreover, our results support the reinforcement of conservation strategies aiming at the expansion of the i. paraguariensis genetic pool deposited in the germplasm bank.

Abstract: in this article, i first, discuss the importance of the incorporation of gender's perspective in the analysis of the international migrations as the unique manner to obtain complete knowledge from the phenomenon. since the analysis of two samples of women and one of men immigrant salvadore?os in the designate area "the runner washington-baltimore", i attempt to prove the determinacy of the existent gender's structure in the origin country ant in the destiny country to form a migration stream. second, i compare the migration experiences of women and men from the same stream to check the two gender's perceptions of the migration's results in the individual level as in the family's relations and generations.

In this article, I first, discuss the importance of the incorporation of gender's perspective in the analysis of the international migrations as the unique manner to obtain complete knowledge from the phenomenon. Since the analysis of two samples of women and one of men immigrant salvadore os in the designate area "The runner Washington-Baltimore", I attempt to prove the determinacy of the existent gender's structure in the origin country ant in the destiny country to form a migration stream. Abstract: bromus setifolius var. pictus (hook) skottsb., b. setifolius var. setifolius presl. and b. setifolius var. brevifolius ness are three native patagonian taxa in the section pnigma dumort of the genus bromus l. aflp and rapd analysis, in conjunction with genetic distance measurements and statistical techniques, revealed variation within this group and indicated that b. setifolius var. brevifolius was closely related to b. setifolius var. pictus, with both taxa being more distantly related to b. setifolius var. setifolius. cytogenetic analysis confirmed the chromosomal number of b. setifolius var. pictus (2n = 70) and b. setifolius var. setifolius (2n = 28) and showed for the first time that b. setifolius var. brevifolius had 2n = 70. the combination of molecular genetic and cytogenetic evidence supported a species status for two of the three taxa and suggested hypotheses for the evolutionary origin of these complex taxa. species status was also indicated for b. setifolius var. setifolius. based on these findings, we suggest that b. setifolius var. pictus be referred to as b. pictus hook var. pictus, and b. setifolius var brevifolius as b. pictus hook var brevifolius. the correlation between aflp diversity and variation in ecological parameters suggested that this marker system could be used to assess breeding progress and to monitor the domestication of patagonian bromus species for agronomic use.
