Abstract: Aiming at the exposed terminal problems in multi-hop wireless sensor networks,this paper proposed the efficient concurrent transmission LACT-MAC protocol based on geographical location information.The protocol breaks through the limit of concurrent transmission based on traditional CSMA MAC protocols,for this protocol exploits nodes’ geographical location information to achieve the concurrent transmission of exposed terminal,so as to enhance the reuse efficiency of the valuable wireless channel resources.According to the location coordinates of the nodes,this paper explored the feasibility analysis of concurrent transmission of exposed terminal node,and completed the concurrency check.Simulation results show that,compared to IEEE 802.11 DCF protocol,LACT-MAC protocol can significantly improve the average throughput of the network,reduce data transmission delay,and effectively improve the efficiency and performance in wireless sensor networks.

Manual Acupuncture for Treatment of Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy: A Systematic Review of Randomized Controlled Trials

Abstract: Objective Manual acupuncture has commonly been used in China, either alone or in combination with conventional medicine, to treat diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN). The objective of this study was to perform a systematic review to evaluate the potential benefits and harms of manual acupuncture for DPN to justify its clinical use. Methods We searched for published and unpublished randomized controlled trials of manual acupuncture for DPN till 31 March 2013. Revman 5.2 software was used for data analysis with effect estimate presented as relative risk (RR) and mean difference (MD) with a 95% confidence interval (CI). Results A total of 25 trials involving 1649 participants were included. The methodological quality of included trials was generally poor. Meta-analysis showed that manual acupuncture had better effect on global symptom improvement compared with mecobalamin (RR 1.31, 95%CI 1.21 to 1.42), vitamin B1 and B12 (RR 1.55, 95%CI 1.33 to 1.80), and no treatment (RR 1.56, 95%CI 1.31 to 1.85), and that the combination of manual acupuncture and mecobalamin had better effect compared with mecobalamin alone on global symptom improvement (RR 1.56, 95%CI 1.28 to 1.90). Adverse events were not reported in any trials. The asymmetric funnel plot suggested publication bias. Conclusions Despite the number of trials of manual acupuncture for DPN and their uniformly positive results, no clinically relevant conclusions can be drawn from this review due to the trials’ high risks of bias and the possibility of publication bias. Clearly defined and internationally acknowledged outcome measures are required for future study. There remains an urgent need for training Chinese researchers in conducting unbiased trials as well as prospectively registering all initiated Chinese trials to avoid publication bias.
Asymmetrical surface soliton trains

Abstract: We elucidate the existence, stability and propagation dynamics of multi-spot soliton packets in focusing saturable media. Such solitons are supported by an interface beside which two harmonically photonic lattices with different modulation depths are imprinted. We show that the surface model can support stable higher-order structures in the form of asymmetrical surface soliton trains, which is in sharp contrast to homogeneous media or uniform harmonic lattice modulations where stable asymmetrical multi-peaked solitons do not exist. Surface trains can be viewed as higher-order soliton states bound together by several different lowest order solitons with appropriate relative phases. Their existence as stable objects enriches the concept of compact manipulation of several different solitons as a single entity and offers additional freedom to control the shape of solitons by adjusting the modulation depths beside the interface.
Left-Handed Properties in Two-Dimensional Photonic Crystals Formed by Holographic Lithography

Abstract: We give an analysis of the frequency distribution trends in the four lowest bands of two-dimensional square lattices formed by holographic lithography (HL) and in the lattices of the same kind but with regular dielectric columns with increasing filling ratios, and then present a comparative study on the left-handed properties in these two kinds of structures using plane wave expansion method and finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) simulations. The results show that the left-handed properties are more likely to exist in structures with large high-epsilon filling ratios or in a connected lattice.
Effects of Starvation on Metabolism of Glucose in Juvenile Silurus meridonalis

Abstract: To investigate the effects of starvation with different time courses on hepatosomatic index (HIS), glycogen, serum glucose and activities of glycolytic key enzymes(HK,GK) in juvenile Silurus meridonalis. The fish were starved for 0,1,2,4,8 weeks respectively at (20±1)℃.Samples were taken after the process. The starvation for O week is set as the control group. The results showed that, as starvation continued, HSI and glycogen decreased significantly. Fasting for 1 week ,the HSI was (2.44±0.36)mg·g-1, the liver glycogen was (35.20±2.25)mg·g-1 and the muscle glycogen was (30.69±10.24) mg ·kg-1 respectively; all of the three indices were significanely below original value (p<0.05). During the experiment, HSI took on a similar trend with liver glycogen. Fasting for 4 weeks, serum glucose had began to significanely below orginal value (p<0.05), but it had a lesser variation extent. The activities of HK and GK had began to significanely below original value after fasting for 4 weeks (p<0.05), and the two indices had a similar trend. So, it is suggested that during the stavation, the fish mainly use glucide as energy source, mobilize the substances in liver firstly and the change of liver glycogen has a direct relationship with the stability of serum glucose;and the starvation can restrain the activities of HK and GK, whereas, short-time starvation(two weeks) has a trivial effect.

Abstract: A new ternary photopolymer system is used in fabricating photonic crystals (PhCs) with controlled defects by combination of single-photon and two-photon photopolymerization. The former process can produce PhCs in one-step recording with a low-power (tens mW) continuous-wave laser at 532nm, while the latter can create desired defects. The preparation of the material, the optical setup and the preliminary experimental results are given. Compared with other methods, this approach is much more accessible and convenient for use of visible light and has advantages of making PhCs in a large scale quickly and economically and introducing any defects exactly, especially for three-dimensional structures.

Abstract: The effects of short-term starvation and refeeding with different time courses on hepatosomatic index(HIS), liver glycogen and serum glucose in juvenile Parabramis pekinensis is investigated. The fish were randomly allocated into control and treatment groups (20±1)℃,control group was sustained fed, treatment groups were starved for 0, 1,4,7,12 d or starved for 12 d then refed for 1, 4, 7, 15 d respectively. Samples were taken after the process. The result showed that, asstarvation continued,HSI and liver glycogen decreased significantly (P<0.05). Fasting for 4 days, the twoindiceswere(1.34±0.05)and (10.53±4.18)mg . g-1 , and been both markedly below original value;when starved for 12 days, the two indices were (0.96±0.04) and (4.03±0.81)mg . g-1,which were the lowest value ,respectively. As refeeding continued,HSI and liver glycogen increased significantly (P<0.05). The value of liver glycogen after refeeding for 1 d and 15 d had returned to those of original level (P>0.05). During the experiment, serum glucose took on a similar trend with HSI and liver glycogen, and it had a less variation extent. The results indicated that serum glucose had a better stability than the other twoindices; moreover, liver glycogen recovered faster than HSI. So, we suggest that during the starvation, the fish mainly uses glucide as energy source, mobilizes the substance in liver firstly and the change of liver glycogen has a direct relationship with the stability of serum sugar.
