AbstractIn the last years, science has studied happiness and its causes. However, research has not given much attention to groups that share a particular view of happiness, that goes beyond the western idea. This paper aims to analyze the possible advantages and disadvantages, as well as limitations and contributions of happiness research in the comprehension of Buen Vivir of Latin American indigenous people. We also draw conclusions on the contribution of Buen Vivir in happiness studies.

Abstract: one of the goals of the developing countries was to promote the crops and consumption of traditional food, in order to preserve the culture of the regions. nevertheless, in spite of the fact that the traditional food occupy a place favored in the agriculture-food consumption chain in guatemala, from the decades of the seventies, now the production and marketing of non traditional crops for food takes a major role. the aim of this study is to identify factors that influence the production of non traditional food in the altiplane of guatemala. a cross-sectional, descriptive and analytical multivariate research was performed, with a random sample of 379 rural households. we contrast the contribution of educational, economic and food related variables to these crops. a probabilistic analysis was performed in order to determine the contribution of every variable. the results indicate that factors like the family work and the irrigation influence to a great extent into the adoption of non traditional crops. nevertheless, other reasons like the traditional attitude towards agriculture can provoke that factors such as irrigation were not considered to be beneficial for the adoption of these crops.
Abstract: in view of the globalization principles crisis and its doubtful economic success, the author is aimed to make a contribution to the criticism of the contemporary ideologies and metaphysics. it is done by questioning the government paradigm supported by the exception, security, necessity, and a preventive and decisive authority that pretends to exorcise the current apocalyptic menace. against the idea of a necessary deciding executive who faces the uncertainty of our times, the author states that the driving force for political action is the achievement of a contingent desirable future image.
Los siete puentes de K?nisberg
Nómadas , 2009,
Abstract: this article examines the consequences of the change, in legal studies, from particular or restricted theorizing to general theorizing, and how this relates to politics and philosophy. after explaining the abandonment of methodological nationalism that characterized it, and proposing an analogy of this displacement with the modern mathematical revolution, it opposes a sized and interlacing topology to the punctual logic of subordination which informs the particularistic perspectives on law and politics. it invites us to cross the bridges between different dimensions (north/south, up/down) in all directions; to turn our gazing into space, its violent takeover and fixation by forced displacement; to take sides in this struggle and enjoy the trip as a new world is created.
This article explores the ethical and political implications that the three research paradigms with the greatest explicative power and heuristic capacity have in social sciences today. After making reference to the centrality of the “cultural turn” that informs such paradigms and their ethical and political limitations, the author proposes that they can be overcome by means of a “material turn.” He particularly focuses on the importance the cultural turn has had for the criticism of the reformist and dissident paradigms in the 60s and the 70s.

Abstract: It is well known that the controversial German theorist Carl Schmitt understood the position of the Sovereign in theologico-political terms: as similar to that of the medieval Prince, charged with the task of preventing and deferring the end of days. An exploration of the links between Schmitt and his acknowledged intellectual mentor Thomas Hobbes reveals that, ultimately, what is at stake in such understandings of the sovereign’s position is the management and control of the risk associated with the possible occurrence of catastrophic events in the future. It is argued here that such a conception of our relationship with time and infinitude has come to dominate the political, economic and even aesthetic landscape of our times. That conception is apocalyptic, authority- based, and catastrophic; it amounts to an unexpected return of religion at the very heart of modernity, on the back of seemingly secular appeals to choice and necessity, following the introduction of war at the centre of the promise of progress.
Excitation levels and magic numbers of small para-Hydrogen clusters (N$ \le 40$)
R. Guardiola,J. Navarro
Physics , 2008, DOI: 10.1063/1.2903462
Abstract: The excitation energies of parahydrogen clusters have been systematically calculated by the diffusion Monte Carlo technique in steps of one molecule from 3 to 40 molecules. These clusters possess a very rich spectra, with angular momentum excitations arriving up to L=13 for the heavier ones. No regular pattern can be guessed in terms of the angular momenta and the size of the cluster. Clusters with N=13 and 36 are characterized by a peak in the chemical potential and a large energy gap of the first excited level, which indicate the magical character of these clusters. From the calculated excitation energies the partition function has been obtained, thus allowing for an estimate of thermal effects. An enhanced production is predicted for cluster sizes N=13, 31 and 36, in agreement with experiment.
A diffusion Monte Carlo study of small para-Hydrogen clusters
R. Guardiola,J. Navarro
Physics , 2007, DOI: 10.2478/s11534-008-0019-z
Abstract: Ground state energies and chemical potentials of parahydrogen clusters are calculated from 3 to 40 molecules using the diffusion Monte Carlo technique with two different pH2-pH2 interactions. This calculation improves a previous one by the inclusion of three-body correlations in the importance sampling, by the time step adjustement and by a better estimation of the statistical errors. Apart from the cluster with 13 molecules, no other magic clusters are predicted, in contrast with path integral Monte Carlo results.
