The Comparative Protective Effects of Ganoderma Spores Lipid and Fish Oil on N-Methyl-N-Nitrosourea-Induced Photoreceptor Cell Lesion in Rats

Abstract: Purpose. To compare Ganoderma spores lipid (GSL) and fish oil (FO) in inhibiting retinal photoreceptor cell lesions induced by N-methyl-N-nitrosourea (MNU) in rats. Methods. 120 rats were untreated (normal control, NC group) or treated with a single intraperitoneal injection of 40 mg/kg MNU (MNU group) then treated with GSL (GSL group) or FO (FO group). Eyes were obtained at 1, 3, 5, 7, and 10 days. Results. Light microscopy assay demonstrated that GSL and FO alleviated rat retinal photoreceptor cell damage (GSL and FO versus MNU group <.001) similarly (GSL versus FO group =.980). Electron microscopy confirmed that GSL and FO reversed damage to photoreceptor segments and photoreceptor cell nuclei. GSL-treated rats showed significantly elevated a-wave and b-wave amplitudes over MNU group (<.05) but less than NC group (<.05) and not significantly different from FO group (>.05). Conclusion. GSL, like FO, alleviates rat retinal photoreceptor cell damage induced by MNU.

Abstract: In order to reflect the importance of liquidity to open-end fund portfolio,the paper creatively added "liquidity" to Markowitz's "mean-variance" model,and by constructing "steadiness factor" constructed an available boundary of a portfolio in a three-dimensional space that was determined by "return","risk" and "steadiness factor".The demonstration indicates: the three-dimensional portfolio that is added "steadiness factor" excels the two-dimensional portfolio that is determined only by "return" and "risk" in many aspects, such as return increasing,risk avoiding and so on.
Herbs for calming liver and suppressing liver-yang in treatment of migraine with hyperactive liver-yang sydrome and its effects on lymphocyte protein expression: a randomized controlled trial

Abstract: Objective: To observe the efficacy of herbs for calming liver and suppressing liver-yang in treatment of migraine patients with hyperactivity of liver-yang syndrome and to investigate its effects on the lymphocyte protein expression. This approach may lay a foundation for the further investigation of pathogenic mechanisms in migraine with hyperactive liver-yang sydrome and the curative mechanisms of calming liver and suppressing liver-yang treatment.Methods: A total of 32 migraine patients with hyperactivity of liver-yang syndrome were randomly divided into treatment group (16 cases) and control group (16 cases). The patients in the treatment group were treated with herbs for calming liver and suppressing liver-yang in accordance with traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) theory and the patients in the control group were treated with Flunarizine Capsules for two courses of treatment. The therapeutic effects, the score of TCM symptom and the changes of headache attack were observed in both groups before and after the treatment. The side effects were also observed in both groups. The level of differential protein expression was analyzed by two-dimensional electrophoresis and matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF-MS).Results: The herbs for calming liver and suppressing liver-yang had better effects on headache improvement than the Flunarizine Capsules (P<0.01). The cure rates in the treatment and control groups were 87.5% and 75.0% respectively. Vertigo, restlessness and tantrum, and prosopo-heat in the treatment group were also improved as compared with those in the control group (P<0.05). After treatment, the score of TCM symptom in the two groups were all decreased (P<0.01), and there was a significant difference between the treatment group and the control group (P<0.01). The herbs for calming liver and suppressing liver-yang had no side effects. The average protein spots in the blood lymphocyte of normal people, migraine patients with hyperactivity of liver-yang syndrome in the treatment group before and after the treatment were (534±42), (552±54) and (529±55) spots respectively. Six down-regulated protein expressions and 14 up-regulated protein expressions were obtained in the treatment group. Four strengthened protein expressions in the six down-regulated proteins and 11 low protein expressions in the 14 up-regulated proteins were also obtained after treatment. Abstract: There are two critical factors in cooperative communication of video sensor networks:relay selection and diversity of the quality of service guarantee of end to end communication. Therefore, this paper proposed the cooperative ARQ protocol based on GOP and distance aware. According to the physical characteristic of sensor node and the MPEG-4 encoding algorithm, it provided the mathematical analytical model of network station-aware, which was used to research the influence of video communication performance. It established a cooperative ARQ based on the awareness model, which was able to select the relay nodes adaptively and guarantee the diversity of the quality of service of video streaming. The mathematical analyses and simulation results show that the proposed mechanism can perform better in terms of video quality assessment, real time performance and energy efficiency, compared to the traditional ARQ and distance aware cooperative ARQ alone, with adapting to the fluctuation of the video sensor network state dynamically.

Abstract: We report a technique that can noninvasively add multiple DC wires into a 3D superconducting microwave cavity for electronic devices that require DC electrical terminals. We studied the influence of our DC lines on the cavity performance systematically. We found that the quality factor of the cavity is reduced if any of the components of the electrical wires cross the cavity equipotential planes. Using this technique, we were able to incorporate a quantum dot (QD) device into a 3D cavity. We then controlled and measured the QD transport signal using the DC lines. We have also studied the heating effects of the QD by the microwave photons in the cavity.
Asteroseismic based estimation of the surface gravity for the LAMOST giant stars

Abstract: Asteroseismology is one of the most accurate approaches to estimate the surface gravity of a star. However, most of the data from the current spectroscopic surveys do not have asteroseismic measurements, which is very expensive and time consuming. In order to improve the spectroscopic surface gravity estimates for a large amount of survey data with the help of the small subset of the data with seismic measurements, we set up a support vector regression model for the estimation of the surface gravity supervised by 1,374 LAMOST giant stars with Kepler seismic surface gravity. The new approach can reduce the uncertainty of the estimates down to about 0.1 dex, which is better than the LAMOST pipeline by at least a factor of 2, for the spectra with signal-to-noise ratio higher than 20. Compared with the logg estimated from the LAMOST pipeline, the revised logg values provide a significantly improved match to the expected distribution of red clump and RGB stars from stellar isochrones. Moreover, even the red bump stars, which extend to only about 0.1 dex in logg, can be discriminated from the new estimated surface gravity. The method is then applied to about 350,000 LAMOST metal-rich giant stars to provide improved surface gravity estimates. In general, the uncertainty of the distance estimate based on the SVR surface gravity can be reduced to about 12% for the LAMOST data.
General model for dynamic contract net protocol based on object-oriented Petri net

Abstract: The traditional contract net protocol model which works on bids invitation between a manager Agent and contractor Agents can successfully realize the cooperation and complete the goal task among Agents. But it also faces many problems such as the high traffic and weak general availability. Therefore, the Object-Oriented Petri net and the concept of object Agent were used to describe the dynamic contract net protocol. The analysis shows that this new model is live, concurrent and can lighten the traffic and enhance the general availability.

Abstract: The ratio of radiation energy density to matter energy density is an important parameter to distinguish the characteristic of atomic processes in plasma. Actoring to this parameter, atomic processes in plasma can be divided into two typical categories: collision-dominated and radiation-dominated. According to numerical simulation, atomic processes of these two categories have different characteristics. The LTE state can be quickly reached in the collision-dominated plasma. However in the radiation-dominated plasma, the temperature of bound electrons, the ionization degree, and the temperature of free electrons have different relaxation time scales. There is some kind of quasi-LTE state.
