L’INSPIRATION ROMANTIQUE DE "GASPARD DE LA NUIT"
Guacira Marcondes Machado
Fólio : Revista de Letras , 2011,
Abstract: n this work, we intend to show that Aloysius Bertrand in “Gaspard de la Nuit” drew the inspiration to his poems in prose from its nearest context: that one of French Revolution and the revolt of the spirit against everything which would impose an exaggerated materialism. Thus, in the middle of Enlightenment, there were those who went in search of “mysterious realities” and a “sense of mystery” that the pre-romantic literature in Britain and in Germany would express in its poetry. It is also in the 18th century that some works about the “Commedia dell’arte” and caricature concede to the grotesque a significant part in the formation of art, extending it to the supernatural and the absurd.
Renal Function after Coronary Artery Bypass Graft Using Dexmedetomidine  [PDF]
Alexandre Fabricio Martucci, Yara Marcondes Machado Castiglia
Open Journal of Anesthesiology (OJAnes) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/ojanes.2013.39088
Abstract:

Acute kidney injury (AKI) is defined by 0.3 mg/dL increase in serum creatinine (SCr) and is associated with higher incidence of postoperative mortality after coronary artery bypass graft (CABG). There are few clinical studies on the effect of dexmedetomidine (DEX) on renal function. We evaluated AKI after coronary artery bypass graft with and without cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) under anesthesia with DEX. Method: In this retrospective study, we performed serial analysis of serum creatinine (SCr) up to 48 hours after surgery in 286 patients who underwent CABG. We tested the similarities between groups, evaluating patients separately for use of CPB and DEX. Each patient was evaluated for his or her SCr at the following points in time: preoperative, immediately postoperative, 24 hours postoperative, and 48 hours postoperative. Preoperative SCr was used as the baseline value for each patient. If the SCr increased ≥0.3 mg/dL in at least one of the periods, the patient was classified as having AKI. We also assessed the risk for AKI in patients with altered preoperative SCr (values between 1.1 to 2.0 mg/dL for women or 1.3 to 2.0 mg/dL for men) compared to patients with normal SCr. Results: The groups were similar for preoperative weight, age, and altered SCr. Patients were anesthetized with DEX and who underwent CPB exhibited higher incidence of AKI (p = 0.043). Without CPB, there was higher incidence of AKI after using DEX (p = 0.066). Conclusion

Poliginia em Sicalis flaveola brasiliensis (Gmelin, 1789) (Passeriformes, Emberizidae)
Machado, Luiz Octavio Marcondes;
Revista Brasileira de Zoologia , 1982, DOI: 10.1590/S0101-81751982000100014
Abstract: during observations that took place at the sítio monte mor, municipality of limeira, s?o paulo, two cases of bigamy among sicalis flaveola brasiliensis were studied. the females occupied the same territory and built the nests close to one another. no aggression was observed between them, when one would enter each others' nest. the male fed the nestling of both females, even when the brood occurred simultaneously.

Comportamento reprodutivo de Sporophila lineola (Linnaeus) (Passeriformes, Emberizidae)
Marcondes-Machado, Luiz Octavio;
Revista Brasileira de Zoologia , 1997, DOI: 10.1590/S0101-81751997000300001
Abstract: this study on the biology and reproductive behavior of sporophila lineola (linnaeus, 1758) was carried in a citrus reticulata blanco plantation near campinas, brazil. a blind was used for observations near the four nests. these were built on the branches of c. reticulata, and were made of grass roots. the clutch varies from two to three eggs. both male and female or only female, feed the nestings with insects such as dragonfly and caterpillar, carried across their bill.
Comportamento reprodutivo de Volatinia jacarina jacarina (Linnaeus, 1766) em cativeiro (Passeres, Emberizidae)
Marcondes-Machado, Luiz Octavio;
Revista Brasileira de Zoologia , 1987, DOI: 10.1590/S0101-81751987000400004
Abstract: sixpairs of volatina jacarina have been studied under captivity condition. territorial defense was displayed by male as well as by female, through agonistic displays joined to characteristic vocalization. several vocalizations have been identified and described. courtship behaviour have also been observed. male and female contributed both to the building of the nest, which is of the cup type, but the male alone was responsible for the chosen place. the average number of eggs by clutch was 2.3 (n = 2.8). incubation have been depending on the sole female and the average incubation period was 10.6 days (n = 10). both male and female fed the young with small arthropods and seeds. nestlings remained in the nest for nine days (n = 9). a gular sac was present in the adults while they fed their young. independence of the young was adquired in about one month. an internuptial plumage appeared during the non-reproductive period.
