Modeling of the Water Table Level Response Due to Extraordinary Precipitation Events: The Case of the Guadalupe Valley Aquifer  [PDF]
Javier González Ramírez, Rogelio Vázquez González
International Journal of Geosciences (IJG) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/ijg.2013.46088
Abstract:

A two-dimensional algorithm for underground water flow simulation was modified and adapted to the geohydrologic conditions of the Guadalupe valley located in the state of Baja California in northern México. In order to solve the numerical model using the balance equation, the central finite differences with spatial and temporal constant increments method were used. Such model considers a heterogeneous and transient unconfined aquifer. Modeling and calibration processes are presented using the data of water table levels provided by the water level data loggers installed in a monitoring network and precipitation data from climatic stations of both seasons: 2009-2010 and 2010-2011. It was possible to locate, correlate and model specific rainfall-recharge events with the aim of obtaining an estimation of how these events are directly reflected on the water table level of the aquifer and how it reacts against simulated extraordinary events.

Contribution of Finance to the Low Carbon Economy  [PDF]
Constancio Zamora Ramírez, José María González González
Low Carbon Economy (LCE) , 2011, DOI: 10.4236/lce.2011.22010
Abstract: Given the advent and spread of carbon assets, as well as the rapid development of financial markets and transactions related with them, this paper intends to achieve the objective of categorizing these phenomena and describing their main characteristics, in such a way that it can be used as a reference by those professionals and scholars who are in-terested in the fighting climate change through the world of finance. In this line, this paper will review and analyse the main carbon assets on regulated and voluntary markets, Emission Reduction Purchase Agreements (ERPAs) and the various structures they may acquire, the role of carbon funds, futures and options over carbon assets, as well as adap-tation in financial markets, particularly in relation to climate derivatives and disaster bonds. The paper ends with a proposal of a reference framework that gathers and categorizes different carbon assets, carbon markets and financial operations traded on these markets.
Climate Change Challenges to Accounting  [PDF]
Constancio Zamora Ramírez, José María González González
Low Carbon Economy (LCE) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/lce.2013.41003
Abstract:

Low carbon economy is causing the implementation and development of carbon markets that affect an increasing organizations number. These markets entail new challenges to accounting practitioners. The aim of this paper is, on the one hand, to know how the financial statements are being affected by the obligations of companies to control and compensate their carbon emissions, by analyzing the different positions adopted by both regulatory organizations and companies in the practice; and, on the other hand, to analyze the content and specific problematic of accounting statements that report on emissions in physical terms. This paper considers the accounting treatment of new carbon assets and liabilities which external information is not sufficiently regulated. Also, the paper analyzes the new contractual relationships that are being developed such as complex derivative structures, purchasing carbon units through ERPAs (Emissions Reduction Purchase Agreements), carbon monetization, carbon collateralization and carbon funds. Finally, new report requirements to companies that are arising, like Carbon Accounting or risks and strategies regard to climate change (Carbon Reporting), are also analyzed.

El rigor metodológico en la evaluación curricular / Methodological Rigor in the Curricular Evaluation
Andrea Ramírez González
Revista Electrónica Educare , 2011,
Abstract: Recibido 19 de mayo de 2011 Aceptado 26 de agosto de 2011 Corregido 27 de setiembre de 2011 Resumen. Abstract. This essay develops the importance of the methodological rigor in a curricular evaluation. The assessment of the curricular evaluation by the interested parties has to show the assessor’s rigor with which the process has been realized, in this way it is possible to demonstrate elements that make the evaluation valid, reliable and creditable. The rigor of the evaluation is sustained with the articulation of aspects that are significant, assessable, theoretical, and methodological, of participation of the actors and of ethics which allow delimiting and developing the object to be evaluated. Therefore, each of these aspects is an essential part of the way to continue in an evaluative process.
Arbor : Ciencia, Pensamiento y Cultura , 2012, DOI: 10.3989/arbor.2012.756n4013
Abstract: This paper is complementary to a previous article published in Arbor, “On the origin of the short story of the Golden Age: the novellieri in Spain”. This work is an anthology, with a initial note indicating selection and publication criteria for a series of prologues, and dedications, and their censorship, in which problems translating some passages from Italian works that were difficult to assimilate in Counter-reformation Spain manifest themselves, the inquisitorial censors’ suspicions are apparent, and we can also glimpse, in the final decades of the sixteenth century, the idea of doing something new, something that could awaken the genius of Spanish writers to rise to the level of Italian novels.

Arbor : Ciencia, Pensamiento y Cultura , 2011, DOI: 10.3989/arbor.2011.752n6016
Abstract: This study presents an overview of the reception and impact in Spain of the novellieri who were translated into Castilian. The issues that have been analyzed are those which are the most interesting in bibliographical problems and questions about translations of the works of Straparola, Guicciardini, Bandello and Giraldi Cinzio, all of them appeared between 1580 and 1590. Finally, it provides a number of suggestions which we will keep in mind in order to reconstruct with sufficient guarantees the first chapter in the history of the novel in Spain, whose main axis is the dissemination of novellieri in Spain.

Poesia - pensamiento / palabra - cosa.
Determination and Evaluation of the Rate of Solid Wastes Generation in Health Care Centers in Montevideo, Uruguay  [PDF]
Lady Carolina Ramírez, Alice Elizabeth González, Nicolás Rezzano Tizze
International Journal of Clinical Medicine (IJCM) , 2017, DOI: 10.4236/ijcm.2017.812061
Abstract: Decree 586/009 establishes the main guidelines related to the management of Health Care Wastes (RAS). For this reason, it is used as a reference in the definition of any methodological proposal that intends to address all the aspects related to Intra-institutional Management of Residues generated in Health Care Centers (CAS) in Uruguay. In the first instance, this paper presents an application case based on the experience of previous work in a CAS in Montevideo. Providing special importance to the Evaluation of rates of sanitary waste removal rates in the hospital centers, which were determined based on historical data for the period from 2008 to 2011, referring to rates of removal of contaminated, common and recyclable sanitary waste. Based on the analysis of these data, information on their behavior is obtained, such as: number of common waste removed per day in the period, evolution of the monthly average of the daily rate of removal of common waste, evolution of the average daily waste removal rate from month to month in the period, average daily waste removal rate for each month of the year in the period considered, average daily rate of common waste removal for each day of the week, evolution of the monthly average of the daily rate of removal of contaminated waste, evolution of the monthly average daily withdrawal rate of contaminated waste in the period and mean of the daily rate of removal of contaminated waste for each month of the year in the period considered. Finally, the conclusions of this article present the procedure to perform a weighing campaign, which should be carried out to determine the common and contaminated waste generation rates in each of the main services of the CAS.
