CHOLANGIOCARCINOMA IN A HORSE COLANGIOCARCINOMA EN UN EQUINO
Gomez Nieto Diego Eder,Oliver Espinosa Juan Olimpo
Revista de la Facultad de Medicina Veterinaria y de Zootecnia , 2008,
Abstract: This article is the first report of equine cholangiocarcinoma in Colombia. A 14 years old horse was referred to the Large Animal Clinic at the National University of Colombia, with history of weight loss; on examination, the horse was letarghic, in poor body condition, with abdominal distention and ventral edema. The clinical examination suggested a hepatic tumor as a very probable diagnosis; the clinical pathology results showed severe involve -ment of biliary ducts and hepatic cells. The necropsy and the microscopic examen revealed cholangiocarcinoma.
Trajectories of the Discourse on Transnational Organized Crime: Biopolitical Wars and Global Civil Society
Diego Nieto
Interdisciplinary Political Studies , 2012,
Abstract: The article aims to understand how the dominant conceptualization of transnational crime legitimates non-traditional forms of warfare at the global level while itself constituting the idea of global civil society. It is argued that since this discourse defines transnational crime as a threat to global society, it makes politically viable the deployment of policing and military interventions in defence of the world population. In order to expose this, this article reconstructs the trajectories of the discourse on organized criminality. The article first analyses the emergence of the discourse in the United States during the 1950s, afterwards analysing it as an issue of transnational scope during the last two decades. Thus the aim here is to underline the importance that a phenomenon such as crime has had on the governance at a global level.
Neoliberalism, Biopolitics, and the Governance of Transnational Crime
Diego Nieto
Colombia Internacional , 2012,
Abstract: The paper argues that policies for controlling transnational crime are a crucial dimension for understanding neoliberal hegemony in global governance. It takes on the relation established by Foucault between biopolitics and neoliberalism, in order to reconstruct the discursive formation framing law enforcement and security strategies beyond the spatiality of the nation-state. The paper then turns to outlining the practical expressions of this discourse in the governance techniques deployed to control transnational crime. Overall, this study aims to show how neoliberal criticism of state power is not coupled with a reduction in governance but, on the contrary, implies many regulations and strategies for controlling the population.
Baryonic Symmetries in : An Overview
Diego Rodriguez-Gomez
Advances in High Energy Physics , 2011, DOI: 10.1155/2011/235710
Abstract: Global symmetries play an important role in classifying the spectrum of a gauge theory. In the context of the duality, global baryon-like symmetries are specially interesting. In the gravity side, they correspond to vector fields in AdS arising from KK reduction of the SUGRA -form potentials. We concentrate on the case, which presents very interesting characteristic features. Following arXiv:1004.2045, we review aspects of such symmetries, clarifying along the way some arguments in that reference. As a byproduct, and in a slightly unrelated context, we also study minimization, focusing on the HVZ theory. 1. Introduction Over the last few years there has been considerable progress towards understanding the duality [1]. The maximally supersymmetric example of this duality corresponds to the space. This space arises as the near-horizon region of the background sourced by a stack of M2 branes moving in . Conversely, standard decoupling limit arguments show that a dual description is given by the on the world volume of the M2 branes. Following on the seminal work in [2, 3], Aharony, Bergman et al. (henceforth ABJM) constructed in [4] what it is by now agreed to be the field theory dual to M2 branes probing the singularity, of which the maximally SUSY example is the case. Since then, much activity has been devoted to further understand this duality in less supersymmetric cases. While there are purely theoretical reasons for that—as constructing and understanding dual pairs shedding information on both field theoretic and gravitational aspects-, a number of potential applications, in particular in what it has been dubbed the duality, have been recently considered. These less supersymmetric examples arise from M2 branes probing more involved singularities, which generically have a rich topological structure. In particular, supergravity -form potentials can be KK reduced on these topologically nontrivial cycles giving rise to vector fields in . In turn, these are related to global symmetries of the dual . On general grounds, global symmetries play an important role in classifying the spectrum of a theory. Furthermore, they are also expected to be relevant from the point of view of potential applications of . It is thus important to understand them in the context of the duality. Of particular interest are the global baryonic symmetries. These are abelian symmetries whose charged states have dimensions . As such, they cannot correspond to KK states ( ), and must be dual to wrapped branes. Thus, they must be associated to the nontrivial topology of the cone where
COMPRESIóN DE IMáGENES DIGITALES UTILIZANDO REDES NEURONALES: MULTICAPA (Backpropagation) Y RBR's

Scientia Et Technica , 2005,

Strong Optimized Conservative Fermi-LAT Constraints on Dark Matter Models from the Inclusive Photon Spectrum

Physics , 2015, DOI: 10.1103/PhysRevD.91.083539
Abstract: We set conservative, robust constraints on the annihilation and decay of dark matter into various Standard Model final states under various assumptions about the distribution of the dark matter in the Milky Way halo. We use the inclusive photon spectrum observed by the Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope through its main instrument, the Large-Area Telescope (LAT). We use simulated data to first find the "optimal" regions of interest in the gamma-ray sky, where the expected dark matter signal is largest compared with the expected astrophysical foregrounds. We then require the predicted dark matter signal to be less than the observed photon counts in the a priori optimal regions. This yields a very conservative constraint as we do not attempt to model or subtract astrophysical foregrounds. The resulting limits are competitive with other existing limits, and, for some final states with cuspy dark-matter distributions in the Galactic Center region, disfavor the typical cross section required during freeze-out for a weakly interacting massive particle (WIMP) to obtain the observed relic abundance.
Large Scale Egomotion and Error Analysis with Visual Features
Miguel Cazorla,Diego Viejo,Andres hernandez,Juan Nieto
Journal of Physical Agents , 2010,
Abstract: Several works deal with 3D data in SLAM problem but many of them are focused on short scale maps. In this paper, we propose a method that can be used for computing the 6DoF trajectory performed by a robot from the stereo images captured during a large scale trajectory. The method transforms robust 2D features extracted from the reference stereo images to the 3D space. These 3D features are then used for obtaining the correct robot movement. Both Sift and Surf methods for feature extraction have been used. Also, a comparison between our method and the results of the ICP algorithm have been performed. We have also made a study about errors in stereo cameras.
