Inequidades en salud relacionadas con el VIH/SIDA
Deossa Restrepo,Gloria Cecilia;
Perspectivas en Nutrición Humana , 2009,
Abstract: there are three theories that could explain the origin of health inequities between population groups. these theories integrated proximal and distal social factors, so-called social determinants on health, which are related to the causes of diseases. the main purpose of this article is to review and analyze some reflections and published papers about social determinants of hiv-aids in order to identify some issues related to the pandemic in colombia.

Memory and history of violence in San Carlos and Apartadó
Gloria Inés Restrepo
Universitas Humanística , 2011,
Abstract: This paper inquires into the production of memories on violent events in two Antioquia municipalities, which from the 80’s have shown alarming violence indicators. Thus, in the municipality of San Carlos violent events memories are framed within a context of a catholic society having homogeneous economic conditions, elites historically pertaining to the Conservative party, accelerated development processes, and living under hegemonic armed rule. In this scenario a certain consensus is achieved in the narrative of violence, aiming at dignifying victims and highlighting the high costs armed confrontation entails. In the municipality of Apartadó, violence memory is framed within a pluri-ethnic, lay and marginal society, immerse in accelerated development processes and unstable armed rule. There, a split memory is produced, featuring political identities routinizing and eventually justifying violent events. In the face of these cases, an attempt is made to keep the reflection on what kind of memories are required to stop reproducing war?
MOLIENDA DE CLINKER DE CEMENTO: EVALUACIóN DE LA INFLUENCIA DE LA VELOCIDAD DE GIRO DEL MOLINO, EL TIEMPO DE RESIDENCIA Y LA CARGA DE LOS MEDIOS DE MOLIENDA
OSORIO,ADRIANA; RESTREPO,GLORIA; MARíN,JUAN;
DYNA , 2009,
Abstract: in this study, the milling of clinker was evaluated by varying the mill speed (24 and 72 rpm), residence time (3 and 5 hours) and grinding media load (30 and 40 %) in a ball mill. the experiment was designed as a three level factorial statistical model. the main objective was to assess the effect of these parameters on cumulative passing percentage (cpp) and surface area, both of which affect the quality of commercial cement. physico-chemical properties, composition, mineralogy and granulometric distribution were determined using x ray fluorescence, surface area analysis and sieving granulometric analysis. results showed that that cpp through a 325 mesh increases considerably with mill spin speed, that the rate of cpp increase decreases with residence time and that grinding media load changes were not significant. the surface area increased mainly as a function of increases in mill spin speed, while residence time and grinding media load had lesser impacts.
Síntesis de poli ácido láctico y poli ricinoleato empleando calentamiento por microondas y su utilización en la producción de termoplasticos de poliuretano
Mazo, Paula;Rios, Luis A.;Restrepo, Gloria;
Polímeros , 2011, DOI: 10.1590/S0104-14282011005000027
Abstract: in this paper we report on the synthesis of thermoplastic polyurethane (tpu) using oligomers synthesized from dl lactic acid and ricinoleic acid. these polyols were obtained from renewable sources by polycondensation of monomers without catalysts. the effect of microwaves on the reactions was evaluated, where non-thermal effects were found to lower the activation energy and increase the rate constant in a third-order kinetics. the monitoring and characterization of intermediate products was done by quantification of acid value by titration (astm d4662 - 03) and hydroxyl number (astm d4274 - 05). thermoplastics obtained are characterized by the following tests: tensile strength and elongation percentage (astm d882-97), analysis of differential scanning calorimetry (dsc), infrared spectroscopy (ir) and atomic force microscopy (afm). tpu was obtained with a percentage of 50% soft segments, all have segmented morphology and segregation of phases. the formulations with poly(dl lactic acid) and methylene diphenyl diisocyanate (mdi) have the highest stiffness and glass transition temperature (tg).
Síntesis de microcápsulas de poliurea a partir de aminas renovables, mediante doble emulsificación
Mazo, Paula;Rios, Luis A;Restrepo, Gloria;
Polímeros , 2011, DOI: 10.1590/S0104-14282011005000030
Abstract: this paper reports on the microencapsulation of a commercial perfume by means of a double emulsification, where the polyurea shell was synthesized by the reaction of lysine with two commercial di-isocyanates (aromatic and aliphatic). in the synthesis the factors evaluated were the amine:di-isocyanate molar ratio and the type of emulsifier. the particle size was optimized using a 32 factorial design and response surface analysis, with the following variables: amount of polyvinyl alcohol and the relationship of the disperse phase to continuous phase. the microcapsules were characterized using differential scanning calorimetry analysis (dsc), infrared spectroscopy (ir), scanning electron microscopy (sem) and mean particle size. the double emulsification allows for a greater yield in the encapsulation of perfume. furthermore, the microparticles have a smaller particle size when the aromatic di-isocyanate was used, also leading to an increase in the protective colloid (polyvinyl alcohol (pva)) and reduction of the disperse phase.

DYNA , 2009,

Abstract: in all the moments of the development of a research process, since its inception, assessment of the question, objectives discussion, methodology, diffusion, a parallel process is to be accomplished to insure self-regulation and follow-up of the different investigative phases. conviction-ethics and responsibility-ethics should always be present in the investigators in order to achieve wellbeing for the researches, the subjects of the investigation and for science. the conclusion is that the evaluation of investigation projects, as part of the validating process of new knowledge, should include an evaluation grounded in virtue- ethics, conviction and responsibility orientated towards the advancement of science and the progress of mankind
Caracterización de Partículas Suspendidas (PST) y Partículas Respirables (PM 10) producidas en áreas de Explotación Carbonífera a Cielo Abierto
Angulo,Luis C; Huertas,José I; Restrepo,Gloria M;
Información tecnológica , 2011, DOI: 10.4067/S0718-07642011000400004
Abstract: this article presents a literature review about the quantification and characterization of total suspended particles (tsp) and inhalable particulate matter (pm 10) generated in open pit coal mining areas. particle matter is a complex pollutant due to its physical characteristics (particle size distribution, morphology and density) and its chemical characteristics (organic and inorganic components, metals, and primary and secondary pollutants). these characteristics are critical to determine the type and the magnitude of their effects on human health. it was found that the different works published in the literature have used lab and field experiments, and also modeling studies. this literature review contributes to improve the understanding and evaluation of technologies that must be used to find solutions to this atmospheric pollution problem.
