O BLOG E A PRODU O TEXTUAL DA INFORMA O NA INTERNET: A CONSTRU O IDENTITáRIA DO SUJEITO BLOGUEIRO NA/PELA CAMPANHA PUBLICITáRIA DO JORNAL ESTAD O
Gislaine Gracia Magnabosco
Fólio : Revista de Letras , 2010,
Abstract: Based on the theoretical assumptions of Hall (2006), Bauman (2005) of the identity; Foucault (2008, 2009) of the speech and every order governing its formation; and on the reading of images (MANGUEL, 2001; TASSO, 2003, 2005) among others; this study attempts to make a gesture of reading about the hype of the journal Estad o to identify whether, through the images presented there, you can identify some speech, and thus some representation of the subject blogger (his identity). A possible effect of order obtained by the gesture was madethat the Journal, qualified as a legitimate subject, prepares a campaign positioning itself against the expansion of the blog as an information, questioning not only the quality of the productions there also published as building the image of a blogger unprepared and unqualified for the role it intends to pursue the Web.
Kinetics of sigma phase formation in a Duplex Stainless Steel
Magnabosco, Rodrigo;
Materials Research , 2009, DOI: 10.1590/S1516-14392009000300012
Abstract: this work determines the kinetics of sigma phase formation in uns s31803 duplex stainless steel (dss), describing the phase transformations that occur in isothermal aging between 700 and 900 oc for time periods up to 1032 hours, allowing the determination of the time-temperature-precipitation (ttp) diagram for sigma phase and proposing a model to predict the kinetics of sigma phase formation using a johnson-mehl-avrami (jma) type expression. the higher kinetics of sigma phase formation occurs at 850 oc. however, isothermal aging between 700 and 900 oc for time periods up to 1032 hours are not sufficient to the establishment of thermodynamic equilibrium. activation energy for both nucleation and growth of sigma phase is determined (185 kj.mol-1) and its value is equivalent to the activation energy for cr diffusion in ferrite, indicating that diffusion of cr is probably the major thermally activated process involved in sigma phase formation. the determined jma type expression presents good fit with experimental data between 700 and 850 oc.
Innovations in mental health services implementation: a report on state-level data from the U.S. Evidence-Based Practices Project
Jennifer L Magnabosco
Implementation Science , 2006, DOI: 10.1186/1748-5908-1-13
Abstract: Content analysis and Greenhalgh et al's (2004) definition of innovation were used to identify and classify state-level activities employed during three phases of EBP implementation: Pre-Implementation, Initial Implementation and Sustainability Planning. Activities were coded from site visit reports created from documents and notes from key informant interviews conducted during two periods, Fall 2002 – Spring 2003, and Spring 2004. Frequency counts and rank-order analyses were used to examine patterns of implementation activities and strategies employed across the three phases of implementation.One hundred and six discreet implementation activities and strategies were identified as innovative and were classified into five categories: 1) state infrastructure building and commitment, 2) stakeholder relationship building and communications, 3) financing, 4) continuous quality management, and 5) service delivery practices and training. Implementation activities from different categories were employed at different phases of implementation.Insights into effective strategies for implementing EBPs in mental health and other health sectors require qualitative and quantitative research that seeks to: a) empirically test the effects of tools and methods used to implement EBPs, and b) establish a stronger evidence-base from which to plan, implement and sustain such efforts. This paper offers a classification scheme and list of innovative implementation activities and strategies. The classification scheme offers potential value for future studies that seek to assess the effects of various implementation processes, and helps establish widely accepted standards and criteria that can be used to assess the value of innovative activities and strategies.During the last decade the testing and implementation of evidence-based practices (EBPs) in healthcare systems throughout the United States has increased. While published literature examining implementation of EBPs in health continues t
The article tries to reflect - through the narrative certification of Rigoberta Menchú as one of the expressions of the Latin American alterity - the questions relative to a juxtaposition of the identification and identity concepts in the context of globalization. This juxtaposition dims the political speech of alterity for the construction of a homogeneous rationality of economic , cultural and politic development and, when working with the similarity of meanings cuts of the articulation of local voices from its positional contexts.

Thou shalt not get fat: Medical representations and self-images of obesity in a Mediterranean society  [PDF]
Mabel Gracia-Arnaiz
Health (Health) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/health.2013.57159
Abstract:

This paper examines the link between lipophobia and representations and experiences of obesity in Catalonia (Spain) from two points of view: that of the physicians and other health professionals who diagnose and treat obesity as an illness, and that of their patients, especially those between adolescence and early adulthood. The qualitative data demonstrate that the increasing social rejection of fat people can be traced not only to moralizing discourses on “excessive” food consumption or the commodification of slenderness and health, but also to the recent definition of obesity as a disease. The medicalization of fatness, far from helping to destigmatize obesity, is becoming a way of resignifying it in moral terms. While doctors’ and patients’ perspectives diverge in some ways, they converge in others. In this text, I focus on the points of convergence arguing that biomedical understandings of obesity and overweight are characterized by a profound ambivalence. Young patients are regarded both as innocent victims of a permissive consumer society, and guilty of not following doctors’ orders. Although the family is held accountable for overweight or obesity in children, as young people become more independent, guilt is individualized and environmental causes are limited to inappropriate diet and insufficient exercise. Most narratives of young people with weight problems reflect similar ideas about the causes and the responsibility for obesity. Their acceptance of the basic premise that deviating from weight standards and rules for healthy eating are voluntary actions leads them to lose faith in themselves. The stigmatization of obesity thus becomes a vicious circle: the obese acceptance—even consider normal—the incriminations leveled at them, and blame themselves for their situation and their inability to prevent it.

A Case Study and Meta-Analysis of Type 2 Diabetes Research  [PDF]
Michael L. Gracia
Advances in Anthropology (AA) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/aa.2013.32013
Abstract:

In the last decade, a new wave of inspired research surrounding a transcription factor’s role in blood-sugar homeostasis has emerged. Transcription Factor 7-like 2 (TCF7L2 or TCF4), a member of the Wnt signaling pathway, is intimately involved in suppressing glucagon synthesis. It also may affect β-cell function. Regiospecific trends concerning the selection of its molecular variants, their dependency on environmental and behavioral changes, and their relative associations with type 2 diabetes (T2D) have become well documented. This dynamic and nuanced understanding of one T2D risk factor should be desired in all other phases of study. An open and incorporative mindset such as this can revitalize the research field.

Toughness of two HSLA steel sheets
Magnabosco, R.;Rossetto, L. C.;
Journal of the Brazilian Society of Mechanical Sciences and Engineering , 2003, DOI: 10.1590/S1678-58782003000200009
Abstract: this paper presents a study concerning the toughness anisotropic behavior of two high-strength low-alloy steel sheets having ferrite-martensite (dual-phase) and ferrite-perlite grain-refined structures. the anisotropic behavior quantification was possible through tension and charpy impact tests. it has been concluded that mechanical resistance has higher values in the longitudinal direction for both steels, and the inverse occurs for ductility. this could be explained with the microstructure preferential orientation with rolling direction. the higher tensile strength found in dual-phase steel is related to the presence of martensite islands, and the higher yield strength found in ferrite-perlite grain-refined steel is related to the fine structure observed. the higher toughness is a ferrite-perlite grain-refined steel characteristic, and this could be explained with the presence of only globular-oxide type inclusions, which reduces fracture nucleation sites, and does not promote fracture easy-propagation. sulfide type inclusions found in dual-phase steel, associated with globular-oxide ones, give to this material a more brittle behavior. toughness anisotropy is clearly noted, and in both cases the highest values are found in the longitudinal direction, related to the preferential inclusion alignment achieved in rolling. the low ductile-to-brittle transition temperature found in both steels, however, could be related to the very fine structures found.
