Abstract: this bibliographical review, aimed at contributing to the thought on the role of games and toys in education, sees in the authors of the critical theory its main interlocutors. it brings forward part of the history of some toys and of the relationships among games, parties and rituals. it thus discusses the changes in the concepts, uses and meanings of games and toys and relates them to the increasing process of rationalization that has affected the western world, these last centuries. finally, it criticizes the mimesis found in the sacred rites and suggests its inclusion into the process of becoming aware of the present days phenomena.

Abstract: Este artigo de revis o bibliográfica tem como objetivo contribuir com a reflex o acerca do jogo e do brinquedo no campo da educa o e busca, principalmente nos autores da Teoria Crítica, seus principais interlocutores, os subsídios necessários. Apresenta um pouco da história de alguns brinquedos e das rela es do jogo com festas e rituais. Discute as mudan as que ocorreram em torno dos conceitos, usos e significados dos jogos e brinquedos, associando-as ao crescente processo de racionaliza o por que passou o mundo ocidental, principalmente nos últimos séculos. Faz a crítica à mímesis que ocorria nos rituais sagrados, ao mesmo tempo em que requisita sua inclus o, com algumas pondera es, ao processo de conhecer os fen menos na atualidade.

Abstract: This article discusses the representations of higher education teaching practice according to the students’ perspective. The sample comprised 393 students and 14 professors of three universities of Santa Catarina State in Brazil that traditionally conferred degrees upon professionals of Law, Civil Engineering and Medicine. Among the theorists brought into the discussion, we can mention Berstein (1990), Bourdieu (1983, 1990), Chauí (2001), and Tardif (2002). Then we present the obtained results by mapping the students’ parameters and value judgments of their positive assessment of professors and teaching practice in order to contribute to future discussion in terms of professors’ training.

Abstract:

In this paper we analysed the historical and instrumental seismicity of the seismic district “Penisola Salentina” (Salento peninsula) in the southern part of the Apuliaregion, making use of the most recent seismological database. Relocation of available dataset points out that the events are spatially distributed over a belt of deformation that approximately corresponds to Soglia Messapica (Taranto-Brindisi depression). Besides, computed source characteristics indicate dextral strike-slip solutions with an approximately E-W orientation that seismologically confirm previous geodynamic studies indicating a NE-SW extension in the Taranto-Brindisi depression. In particular, the tensional stress associated to the present seismic activity could be the consequence of the relaxation of the buckling process following the extensional re-arrangement of the Apenninic belt masses. Moreover attenuation QPvalues obtained in this study are much greater than those inferred in other parts of Italian peninsula; this result agrees with previous macroseismic investigations and indicates a greater efficiency of the studied area in the transmission of body waves.

Abstract: in this research, the physiological transformations of 'isabella' (vitis labrusca l) grapes aí different storage conditions were examined. the grapes were stored at 25°c (nonchilled) and 4°c (chilled) crnd maintained m a desiccator with vacuum (-60kpa) appiicatíon at lhe beginning of the storage process and without vacuum appiicatíon. the metabolites produced were quantitativety determined by gas-liquid chromatography and statistically analysed using a completely randomized design with two repetitions. the chilling storage reduced the production of both ethanol and methanol. the ethyl acetato formation did not depena on the individual effects of vacuum and temperature but is affected by the interaction ofthese two factors. the ethanol production was increased by vacuum at room temperature and by the interaction temperature-vacuum. the chilling storage diminished the amount of damaged berries and the vacuum had an opposite effect. the results obtained with the cultivar isabella suggest that the procedure of appiying vacuum at the beginning ofthe grape storage process may induce physical damage even ai chilling storage. the correlation studies show that the deterioration of stored isabella table grapes can be readily monitored byfollowing the methanol, ethanol and ethanal production.

Abstract: the teaching of drawing in brazilian schools has become less common in modern times. the rote memorizing of sequences or algorithms to solve geometrical problems has suppressed its cultural function. drawing has moved away from the primary and intermediate levels. however, research on the functioning of brain allows us to evaluate the importance of graphic expression for its development. this allows to conclude that re-introduction of drawing for schools must be made in new model capable of stimulating mental abilities, use manual dexterity, artistic sensitivity and graphic expression to help develop intuitive intelligence, but without forgetting rational, sequential, logical thinking. this work shows some exercises to advance this objective, as an initial stage to change the educational system in an effort to integrate psychology, pedagogy and neurosciences with drawing.

Abstract: O ensino de Desenho nas escolas brasileiras, nesses últimos anos, raras vezes tem ido além da memoriza o de seqüências ou algoritmos para solucionar problemas geométricos. Assim, suprimida sua fun o cultural, o Desenho acabou alijado da escola elementar e média. Contudo pesquisas sobre o funcionamento do cérebro permitem avaliar a importancia da express o gráfica para a forma o integral da pessoa. Isto permite concluir que a volta do Desenho à escola deve ser feita em um novo padr o, capaz de estimular as capacidades mentais, utilizando a habilidade manual, a sensibilidade artística e a express o gráfica para desenvolver a inteligência intuitiva, sem esquecer o lado racional, lógico e seqüencial do cérebro. Esse trabalho mostra alguns exercícios para chegar a esse objetivo, como um primeiro passo para mudar o sistema educacional dentro de um esfor o integrado por Psicologia, Pedagogia, Neurociências e professores de Desenho.

Abstract: during the first half of the twentieth century, the creation of scientific institutes was a landmark in the history of the state of s?o paulo, given their innovative role and their relation to the region's industrial and economic development. these institutions encompassed a number of basic and applied areas and fostered pioneering lines of research. the transformations that occurred in the political arena during the latter half of the century, exacerbated by the lack of continuity in policies regarding scientific and technological management, brought the progressive deterioration and virtual stagnation of research in most s?o paulo institutes. under my guidance, undergraduate students of biology who were enrolled in a course in the history of science conducted interviews with researchers who had lived through these changes. this oral history approach documents the perceptions of this community of scientific researchers regarding their own achievements and the paths their institutes have followed in the last decades.
