Thom polynomials of Morin singularities and the Green-Griffiths-Lang conjecture

Abstract: The Green-Griffiths-Lang conjecture says that for every complex projective algebraic variety $X$ of general type there exists a proper algebraic subvariety of $X$ containing all nonconstant entire holomorphic curves $f:\mathbb{C} \to X$. We construct a compactification of the invariant jet differentials bundle over complex manifolds motivated by an algebraic model of Morin singularities and we develop an iterated residue formula using equivariant localisation for tautological integrals over it. We show that the polynomial GGL conjecture for a generic projective hypersurface of degree $\mathrm{deg}(X)>2n^{10}$ follows from a positivity conjecture for Thom polynomials of Morin singularities.

Abstract: The Green-Griffiths-Lang conjecture says that for every complex projective algebraic variety $X$ of general type there exists a proper algebraic subvariety of $X$ containing all nonconstant entire holomorphic curves $f:\mathbb{C} \to X$. Using equivariant localisation on the Demailly-Semple jet differentials bundle we give an affirmative answer to this conjecture for generic projective hypersurfaces $X \subset \mathbb{P}^{n+1}$ of degree $\mathrm{deg}(X) \ge n^{9n}$.
Thom polynomials of Morin singularities

Abstract: We prove a formula for Thom polynomials of Morin (or A_d) singularities in any codimension. We use a combination of the test-curve method of Porteous, and the localization methods in equivariant cohomology. Our formulas are independent of the codimension, and they are computationally efficient for d less than 7.
A geometric construction for invariant jet differentials

Abstract: Motivated by Demailly's strategy towards the Kobayashi hyperbolicity conjecture, we study the action on the k-jets of germs of holomorphic discs in a complex manifold X of the reparametrization group of k-jets of germs of biholomorphisms of the source. This reparametrization group is a subgroup of the general linear group GL(k) which is not reductive, but nonetheless we show that its invariants for any linear action which extends to GL(k) form a finitely generated algebra, and give a new geometric description of the Demailly-Semple algebra of invariant jet differentials.

Abstract:

We examined the possibility that the anti-estrogens, tamoxifen (TX) and toremifen (TO) interactedwith the immune system. Indeed, both TX and TO stimulated cells mediated cytotoxicity reactions by various killer cells: killer T (TK), natural killer (NK), lymphokine activated killer (LAK) cells. Both TX and TO inhibited the growth of tumors that express estrogen receptors. Thus these antiestrogens inhibited tumor growth and stimulated killer cells for cytotoxicty on such tumors. Therefore these agents were presumed to stimulate tumor immunity. We tested the P815 mouse mastcytoma with TK, LK, and TX or TO. A therapeutic effect was observed in both experiments. The SL2-5 murine lymphoma was tested with NK and TX cells or TO cells and successful immunotherapy was observed.We digested human breast carcinomas and lung tumors with collagenase. The killer cells were separated from tumor cells on Ficoll gradients. TX and TO enhanced the cytotoxic effect of autologous killer cells on the corresponding tumor cells. This experiment indicates that the results obtained in animals are also valid for human malignant disease.

QCD equation of state at nonzero magnetic fields in the Hadron Resonance Gas model

Abstract: The Hadron Resonance Gas (HRG) model is considered to study the QCD equation of state for the case of nonzero external magnetic fields. Thermodynamic observables including the pressure, energy density, entropy density, magnetization and the speed of sound are presented as functions of the temperature and the magnetic field. The magnetization is determined to be positive, indicating that the hadronic phase of QCD is paramagnetic. The behavior of the speed of sound suggests that the deconfinement transition temperature is lowered as the magnetic field grows. Moreover, a simple correspondence is derived, which relates the magnetic catalysis of the quark condensate to the positivity of the beta-function in scalar QED.

Building constructions of stone cladded roofs in contemporary architecture

Abstract: Stone roof coverings have existed for hundreds of years now, but their application in contemporary representative architecture is quite different than it was in former times, and accordingly the underlying constructional details are much more complicated. The main role of the roof in today's architecture is to emphasize the abstract building volume and its homogeneity. The design (visual appearance) has priority over constructional considerations, while at the same time requirements for thermal insulation and the watertight buildup of the building envelope are rising. This is a big challenge for the design of the constructional details, since traditional methods do not apply anymore: almost all of the water gets under this exterior cladding where a completely waterproof underlayer is needed. Therefore a new type of constructions is borne. In this article I try to present innovative constructional alternatives for stone cladded roofs and try to define guidelines for their planning. These alternatives were created and refined based on analysis of historical and contemporary examples, the examination of the specific conditions and requirements that affect cladded roofs, their expected performance over their life-span, the difficulties that arise under construction and my work experience. I created seven groups, according to the method for fixing the individual stone elements, since this is the detail that most affects the buildup of the underlying structure. A new approach is needed with these unconventional constructions, with a much more detailed inventory of every little feature of the building in question. But since these features vary violently with the architectural conception the exact constructional solutions are usually unique as well.
