Capability of TCSC on SSR Mitigation  [PDF]

TCSC (Thyristor-Controlled Series Compensator) has been used in modern power systems to increase power transfer and system stability. Besides, due to its controllable feature, TCSC has been used to work as a solution to sub-synchronous resonance (SSR) problems. However, it is not clear so far whether TCSC’s inherent characteristic can avoid SSR and its effectiveness for SSR damping. In this paper, an equivalent circuit of TCSC is used to better understand how TCSC performs at sub-synchronous frequency ranges. Therefore, interactions of TCSC behaviors and SSR components can be viewed individually. The effects of TCSC operation interfered by sub-synchronous components are discussed. Results show that TCSC has the capability to damp SSR, but this capability can be deteriorated if TCSC firing logic cannot be effectively maintained.

Abstract: The paper introduced low-carbon economy and low-carbon technology, and proposed the de-tailed technical measures of low-carbon build-ing technology. Moreover, it has quantitatively calculated the “implicit” CO2 emission of C40 and C50 concrete columns, aluminium curtain wall, wall paintings and common floor decora-tion materials. The calculation results show that it is preferable to use high strength concrete, reduce the usage of aluminium materials and use wooden floor according to location. The paper can be a reference for quantitative meas-urement to the low-carbon technology and en-ergy efficiency.

Abstract: Compared with other stream applications, scientific stream programs are usually bound by memory accesses. Reusing streams across different iterations, i.e. loop-carried stream reuse, can effectively improve the SRF locality, thus reducing memory accesses greatly. In the paper, we first present the algorism identifying loop-carried stream reuse and that exploiting the reuse after analyzing scientific computing applications. We then perform several representative microbenchmarks and scientific stream programs with and without our optimization on Isim, a cycle-accurate stream processor simulator. Experimental results show that our algorithms can effectively exploit loop-carried stream reuse for scientific stream programs and thus greatly improve the performance of memory-bound scientific stream programs.

Abstract: Jujube fruit cracking has become a major concern in jujube production. It can affect fruit quality and yield and crop productivity, resulting in significant economic loss. Recent advances in jujube fruit cracking research provide opportunities to improve our understanding of the impacts of environmental factors and plant physiological metabolism on jujube fruit cracking. In this article, we have developed a novel systemic modeling software for jujube fruit cracking. The potential function and value of this modeling software are presented. Current issues and future research directions in the modeling of jujube fruit cracking system are also discussed. To our knowledge, this is the first functional and/or integrated modeling software developed for the management of jujube fruit cracking.

Singularities and the Finale of Black Hole Evaporation

Abstract: In this essay we argue that once quantum gravitational effects change the classical geometry of a black hole and remove the curvature singularity, the black hole would not evaporate entirely but approach a remnant. In a modified Schwarzschild spacetime characterized by a finite Kretschmann scalar, a minimal mass of the black hole is naturally bounded by the existence of the horizon rather than introduced by hand. A thermodynamical analysis discloses that the temperature, heat capacity and the luminosity are vanishing naturally when the black hole mass approaches the minimal value. This phenomenon may be attributed to the existence of the minimal length in quantum gravity. It can also be understood heuristically by connecting the generalized uncertainty principle with the running of Newton's gravitational constant.

Abstract: In this paper we establish some regularity criteria for the 3D Boussinesq system with the temperature-dependent viscosity and thermal diffusivity. We also obtain some uniform estimates for the corresponding 2D case when the fluid viscosity coefficient is a positive constant.
Error Correction in Polynomial Remainder Codes with Non-Pairwise Coprime Moduli and Robust Chinese Remainder Theorem for Polynomials

Abstract: This paper investigates polynomial remainder codes with non-pairwise coprime moduli. We first consider a robust reconstruction problem for polynomials from erroneous residues when the degrees of all residue errors are assumed small, namely robust Chinese Remainder Theorem (CRT) for polynomials. It basically says that a polynomial can be reconstructed from erroneous residues such that the degree of the reconstruction error is upper bounded by $\tau$ whenever the degrees of all residue errors are upper bounded by $\tau$, where a sufficient condition for $\tau$ and a reconstruction algorithm are obtained. By releasing the constraint that all residue errors have small degrees, another robust reconstruction is then presented when there are multiple unrestricted errors and an arbitrary number of errors with small degrees in the residues. By making full use of redundancy in moduli, we obtain a stronger residue error correction capability in the sense that apart from the number of errors that can be corrected in the previous existing result, some errors with small degrees can be also corrected in the residues. With this newly obtained result, improvements in uncorrected error probability and burst error correction capability in a data transmission are illustrated.
Convergence of the full compressible Navier-Stokes-Maxwell system to the incompressible magnetohydrodynamic equations in a bounded domain

Abstract: In this paper we establish the uniform estimates of strong solutions with respect to the Mach number and the dielectric constant to the full compressible Navier-Stokes-Maxwell system in a bounded domain. Based on these uniform estimates, we obtain the convergence of the full compressible Navier-Stokes-Maxwell system to the incompressible magnetohydrodynamic equations for well-prepared data.
