Improving European policy towards fragile states
Clare Castillejo
Interdisciplinary Political Studies , 2011,
Abstract: As global attention focuses on the financial crisis and Arab revolutions, fragility appears to be slipping down Europe’s agenda. Important processes aimed at addressing fragility have stalled, with the European External Action Service (EEAS) shelving the Action Planon Fragility and Conflict (Action Plan) and the review of the Gothenburg Programme on conflict prevention (Gothenburg Review). However, recent events from Somalia to Pakistan demonstrate that addressing fragility remains critical. Indeed, it is possible that through better preventative action on fragile states the European Union (EU) could have avoided some of the acute challenges it now faces in Libya and Syria. While High Representative Ashton has stressed that conflict is a policy priority, in practice the EU needs a stronger and broader approach to fragility in order to meet its security and development aims.

Medusas, bestiarios y teatralidades en el mundo contemporáneo1
Castillejo Cuellar,Alejandro;
Universitas Humanística , 2007,
Abstract: a different lecture in regards to conceptions about man is the one we will call "pendular": the concept of "man" raises a polarity about the way we apprehend it, especially in a culture that has given origin to science as the primordial method to approach the universe. is totality, as euclidian axioms prescribe, the sum of the parts? could our "habits of thought" permit a universe in which the fragments of totality "add to more" than that same totality? what is the relationship, in summary, between the totality and its constituting fragments? in this text, we will explore the idea of the world as an appearance of alterities. we will meditate about a way in which this process could have an effect on how the human being inhabits space.
RAZA, ALTERIDAD Y EXCLUSIóN EN ALEMANIA DURANTE LA DéCADA DE 1920
Castillejo Cuéllar,Alejandro;
Revista de Estudios Sociales , 2007,
Abstract: in 1927, under the umbrella of the kaiser wilhelm gesellschaft, the institution responsible for directing germany's research policies, the kaiser wilhelm institut für anthropologie, menschliche, erblehre und eugenic (kaiser wilhelm institute for anthropology, human heredity and eugenics) was founded. the institution represented the apex of the german eugenics movement that had developed in the previous decades, and the birth of one of the intellectual centers where the reich's ideology of social engineering was founded. this article discusses some of the historic elements that linked racial ideology, the bedrock of nazi policy of extermination, and the social sciences during the weimar period.

Antipoda. Revista de Antropología y Arqueología , 2005,
Abstract: This text deals with the ways in which silence, and the grammar ofsilence, as a way of dealing with trauma, is determined by the historical conditions where it is embedded. One of the registers in which this silence operates has to do with a particular micro-politics of social research and knowledge production in South Africa that separates "testimonies" of war and "victims" (or sources of knowledge) from "trauma experts" in ways that reinstate a series of hierarchies. In this context, academic credentials, the language of exchange, and the implementation of noncollaborative research agendas are of great importance to understand the one-directionality of knowledge production aboutviolence.
