Abstract: O artigo apresenta uma breve revis o bibliográfica tendo como foco a rela o entre a personalidade e a conduta violenta. S o abordados de forma especial os recentes avan os na área da psiquiatria biológica, como a rela o causual entre a baixa concentra o de serotonina no SNC e o comportamento agressivo. Como o indivíduo é um ser bio-psico-social levantamos algumas quest es que auxiliam o entendimento da conduta violenta de uma forma mais abrangente. Concluímos que os estudos nesta área s o escassos e que muito ainda necessita ser pesquisado para que possa intervir de forma mais consistente no tratamento e preven o do comportamento violento.

Approximated segmentation considering technical and dosimetric constraints in intensity-modulated radiation therapy with electrons

Abstract: In intensity-modulated radiation therapy, optimal intensity distributions of incoming beams are decomposed into linear combinations of leaf openings of a multileaf collimator (segments). In order to avoid inefficient dose delivery, the decomposition should satisfy a number of dosimetric constraints due to suboptimal dose characteristics of small segments. However, exact decomposition with dosimetric constraints is only in limited cases possible. The present work introduces new heuristic segmentation algorithms for the following optimization problem: Find a segmentation of an approximated matrix using only allowed fields and minimize the approximation error. Finally, the decomposition algorithms were implemented into an optimization programme in order to examine the assumptions of the algorithms for a clinical example. As a result, identical dose distributions with much fewer segments and a significantly smaller number of monitor units could be achieved using dosimetric constraints. Consequently, the dose delivery is more efficient and less time consuming.

Abstract: the use of blogs, as a place for adolescents to write about their experiences, is a growing contemporary phenomenon. the purpose of the present article is to analyze the writing contained in blogs in the make-up of the adolescent subject, from a psychoanalytic perspective. the topic was approached through a review of relevant literature starting with freud's legacies about writing, moving on to the work of contemporary psychoanalysts who are researching the subject. afterwards, issues are presented related to changes experienced in adolescence, as a subjective event, coupled with the writing at that point of time in their life. finally, some considerations are proposed about writing on the internet and about blogs.

Abstract: the recollection of remarkable autobiographical events is accompanied by judgments about the recovered event (reflexive) and about the act of recollecting itself (heuristic). this study aimed at exploring relations and distinctions between these kinds of judgments in the process of conveying personal relevance to autobiographical events. for such, 208 college students (170 women) were required to recollect a remarkable event of their lives and to fill a 16-item autobiographical memory questionnaire. based on a main components analysis, the first grouped 10 variables related to phenomenal qualities and imagery modalities. a second component comprised six variables related to reflexive judgments. the rated importance of the event was more closely related to reflexive judgments by which an individual retroactively ascribes properties to the event than to phenomenal qualities of the immediate recollection experience.

Abstract: psychology teaching in brazil was substantially modified when the profession was officially regulated in 1962, and, in the same decade, when the reform of higher education reorganized universities in departments. through the collection of both documented data and accounts from people who took part in the focused events, this study describes the history of psychology teaching in ufrgs, from the installation of the department of psychology in 1971, to the legal admission of its undergraduate program, in 1979. the study of psychology in the federal university of rio grande do sul (ufrgs) started in the 1940's, within philosophy courses. nevertheless, an undergraduate career for psychologists in that university was not created until 1973. the history here reported reflects the legal and bureaucratic conditions that ruled the department and its related organs, and the changes in the faculty which occurred in the period. therefore, the cycle wich began in the cathedrae era had a new chapter, oriented by integration of research and teaching in psychology. that set of conditions determined the history of psychology in ufrgs, as well as in virtually all higher education establishments across the country.

Abstract: the merits of psicologia: ciência e profiss?o (pcp) have been recognized by campos and bernardes (2005) in their historical record of the journal′s first 25 years. for the authors, the journal has provided a unique space for the dissemination of brazilian psychological studies, and contributed significantly to the development of psychology in brazil. the present study extends the analysis to a more recent period and attempts a brief comparison with two similar journals from other regions: american psychologist and european psychologist. the article concludes that in recent periods, pcp gets growingly close to its foreign counterparts in terms of an agenda and potential functions as a platform for the international airing of scientific and professional advances obtained by brazilian psychologists.

Abstract: O ensino de Psicologia no Brasil foi fundamentalmente modificado pelo reconhecimento da profiss o de Psicólogo, em 1962, e pela reforma universitária que organizou as universidades em departamentos, na mesma década. Este trabalho narra a história do ensino de Psicologia na Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), da instala o do Departamento de Psicologia em 1971 ao reconhecimento do curso de gradua o em 1979, com base em dados documentais e em depoimentos de personagens envolvidos nesses eventos. Embora o ensino de Psicologia na UFRGS remonte aos anos 1940, na antiga Faculdade de Filosofia, o curso de gradua o foi criado 30 anos depois, em 1973. Entende-se que o histórico do ensino de Psicologia na UFRGS reflete as condi es legais e burocráticas que pautaram o Departamento e seus órg os. Nesse período, a introdu o do modelo departamental que visava integrar ensino, pesquisa e extens o deu início a uma nova etapa no ciclo que tivera início na era das cátedras.
Phenomenal Qualities of Autobiographical Memories in an Event-Cuing Paradigm

Abstract: Phenomenal qualities of recollection and reflexive properties of freely recalled momentous personal events were investigated in 2 experiments. Brazilian undergraduates recalled and rated specific autobiographical episodes through the Autobiographical Memory Questionnaire. In Experiment 1, momentous events were compared to childhood and adolescence scenes. Experiment 2 used an eventcuing paradigm to form 3 pairs of cuing and respective cued events: momentous, earliest recollection, and an event from the subject's birthday last year. No significant differences were found within clusters, but all variables differed between momentous and earliest clusters, whereas only vivid event variables (importance, emotion, rehearsal, unusualness, and consequences) distinguished momentous events from last birthday. Momentous events were characterized in terms of reflexively attributed vivid memory properties, rather than of phenomenal qualities of recollection. Results are discussed in their implications for the relationship between phenomenal qualities of recollection and judgments of autobiographical events and patterns of association in event clusters.
