Gastaldi,Viviana;
Synthesis (La Plata) , 2003,
Abstract: in oratory and aeschylean drama, the rhetoric patterns used in the public debate -as common elements of an oral culture- show not only the relationships between poet and orator in matters related to vocabulary or subjects discussed in these fields; in eumenides, reveal in a particular way the rules and social values that define the cultural context of punishment.
Opinione pubblica, legislazione politica e pratica giudiziaria
Silvia Gastaldi
Storia delle Donne , 2011,
Abstract: This paper examines the emblematic stories of three women: the adulterous wife of the Athenian citizen Euphiletus, Neera, the courtesan who usurped the role of legitimate wife, and Aspasia, the famous mistress of Pericles. These stories indicate that, in Athens, public opinion, legislation, and judicial system all shared the view of women’s subordination. Their behaviours were only judged in relation to their impact on the citizen’s reputation.
Nadine Gastaldi
In Situ : Revue de Patrimoines , 2012, DOI: 10.4000/insitu.4237
Major archival items on religious buildings of the 19th and 20th centuries are kept in the French National Archives repositories in Paris and Fontainebleau. Their presentation gives an opportunity to withdraw the context in which these documents were issued by a great variety of producers. Beyond laws on public cults, issues on public property and architecture are indeed to be taken in account.
PVLAS results
Ugo Gastaldi
Physics , 2005,
Abstract: The PVLAS experiment has built an apparatus to measure rotations and ellipticities induced by a transverse magnetic field onto linearly polarized laser light.Available results can be interpreted as observation of an unexpectedly large rotation effect between 10-7 and 4 10-7rad. If this rotation is due to the existence of a light spin zero boson of mass m and coupling to two photons 1/M, the ball-park values of the boson mass parameters are m=1meV and M=10+6GeV.
Spectroscopy of ultralight bosons by photon-boson-photon conversion-reconversion: experimental aspects
Ugo Gastaldi
Physics , 2006,
Abstract: A conversion-reconversion experimental scheme is proposed where photons stored in a Fabry-Perot cavity (FP) embracing a dipole conversion magnet generate two beams of ultralight bosons emitted in opposite directions. Fractions of the bosons convert in dipole magnets aligned along the two boson beam lines and generate photons of the same energy and directions of the FP grandparent photons. The reconversion photons are detected individually by means of single photon detectors. Such an experiment can determine the bosons parity by measurements with different angles between the polarization vector of linearly polarized light injected into the FP and the direction of the magnetic field Bc of the conversion magnets. It can establish both the bosons mass m and the coupling constant to two photons gmgg by measurements with different lengths Lr of the string of powered regeneration magnets of one boson beam line, while the second boson beam line is left unchanged and used for normalization. The optimal total length Lc of the string of conversion magnets depends on m2 and on the energy E of the laser photons. For E=2.4eV Lc is of the order of 3m if m=10-3eV and of the order of 300m if m=10-4eV. If the signals observed by the PVLAS experiment are due to the existence of ultralight bosons with m=10-3eV and gmgg=10-6GeV-1, these regeneration measurements are feasible with existing tachnology on a site of length below 100m in relatively short periods of data taking time.
Economic Integration, Tax Erosion, and Decentralisation: An Empirical Analysis  [PDF]
Francesca Gastaldi, Paolo Liberati, Antonio Scialà
Modern Economy (ME) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/me.2013.410A003
Abstract: This paper addresses the issues of whether and how economic integration can affect the ability of the central governments to raise tax revenues and lead to a greater decentralisation of the public sector. To this purpose, a country-specific measure of tax erosion is derived. That is used as a determinant of the degree of fiscal federalism. We find that an increase of economic integration causes a decline of the implicit tax rates on mobile capital and the process of tax erosion positively contributes to the growth of public sector decentralisation.

Gastaldi,Marcos R;
Intersecciones en antropolog?-a , 2012,
Abstract: in this paper, the potential and limitations of edward c. harris' stratigraphic theory are evaluated in relation to the development of studies of archaeological objects that approach the understanding of specific social practices in which such objects were involved at the places they were used. the analysis is applied to a specific case, the excavation of a habitation at piedras blancas site, ambato valley, catamarca, argentina. bearing in mind the principles of archaeological stratigraphy, a reflexive analysis of decision making in the field about the definition of the different stratigraphic units and their relation to specific objects found at the site was carried out. consequently, this paper: a) rethinks the marginal place occupied by objects in harris' theory; b) assesses the importance of the interfaces and period interfaces suggested by the author in observing other types of relationships-- not only the stratigraphic--thus enabling the integration of objects in specific areas; and c) reflects critically on the relations between theory and practice in all excavation work.
The place of objects in the stratigraphic theory of Edward C. Harris: reflections from a habitation in the Ambato Valley, Argentina

In this paper, the potential and limitations of Edward C.
Economic integration and government size: a review of the empirical literature
Francesca Gastaldi,Paolo Liberati
Financial Theory and Practice , 2011,
Abstract: This paper reviews the empirical literature concerning the impact of economic integration on the size and the composition of the public budget. From a theoretical perspective, a pessimistic view highlights the threat that economic integration constitutes to the action of the public sector. An optimistic view, instead, emphasizes the beneficial effects of integration in stimulating efficiency – enhancing public policies. Despite some well-established theoretical results, the empirical evidence on this topic is rather controversial. Some studies support the hypothesis that taxes and public spending may increase in order to compensate losers for the risks of a more open economic environment. Other studies support the opposite idea, that the public sector retrenches when having to face increasing mobility of the production factors. Yet, comparability of the wide empirical evidence on the topic is not straightforward and empirical regularities are hard to find.
The contribution of NLO and LPM corrections to thermal dilepton emission in heavy ion collisions
Yannis Burnier,Chiara Gastaldi
Physics , 2015,
Abstract: Recently lots of efforts have been made to obtain the next to leading order and Landau-Pomeranchuk-Migdal corrections to the thermal dilepton emission rate in perturbative QCD. Here we apply these results to the plasma created in heavy ion collisions and see wether these corrections improve the comparison between theoretical calculations and experimental results for the invariant mass dependence of the dilepton emission rate. In particular, we simulate the quark-gluon plasma produced at RHIC and LHC using a 2+1-dimensional viscous hydro model. We compare our results to STAR experiment and comment on the need for a non-perturbative determination of the dilepton rate at low invariant mass.
