Abstract: The ethyl acetate extract of the roots and leaves of Dendrophthoe falcate yielded apigenin-8-C-β-D (2"-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl)-glucopyranoside. The isolated compounds were characterized by U V, I R, N M R and mass spectral studies.

Abstract: A novel four-input three-output voltage-mode differential difference current conveyor (DDCC) based universal filter is presented. The circuit uses three DDCCs as active elements, two resistors and two capacitors as passive elements. The circuit along with its versatility enjoys the advantage of minimum number of passive elements employment. SPICE simulation results are given to confirm the theoretical analysis. The proposed circuit is a novel addition to the existing knowledge on the subject.

Abstract: Leiomyoma of nasal cavity is an extremely rare and unusual benign mass that uncommonly arises from the nasal septum. These are vascular or nonvascular masses of myogenic origin. We present a rare case of leiomyoma arising from the nasal septum and discuss its management using KTP 532 laser.

Abstract: Fifty lactating buffaloes were divided into five groups viz. four treated and one control group. The treated groups received Ashwagandha, Vitamin E, Selenium, Copper and Zinc in different combinations. Animals of group IV (provided with 50 gm of Ashwagandha and 500 IU Vitamin E, 800 mg zinc methionine, 250 mg copper sulphate and 5 mg of selenium) showed highest recovery (80.00%) with an average post treatment CMT score point 1.53 + 0.75, as compared to rest of the treated groups. Supplementation of trace minerals is only required at low levels to improve immune functions such as decreasing the incidence of mastitis. [Veterinary World 2008; 1(4.000): 103-104]

Abstract: Sixteen clinically healthy New Zealand white rabbits of either sex were divided into 2 equal groups (I and II) of 8 animals each. Under thiopental sodium (2.5 %) anaesthesia a 2 — 3 cm full-thickness abdominal wall defect in the mid-ventral abdominal wall was created and repaired with an acellular dermal graft (ADG) in all the animals of group I (test group). In animals of group II (control group) a full-thickness linear midline abdominal muscular wall incision was made and repaired with a continuous suture pattern using 2-0 nylon.

Abstract: In this paper, the simulation studies of the radiation characteristics of modified dual segment rectangular dielectric resonator antenna (DSRDRA) in free space and in presence of bio-medium alongwith the absorbed power distribution in a homogenous bio-medium (muscle layer) in direct contact with the proposed antenna are reported at different WiMAX band frequencies. The specific absorption rate (SAR) distributions in muscle layer for different antenna-to-muscle layer spacings are also presented at resonant frequency of antenna in WiMAX bands. The results of return loss, input VSWR and radiation characteristics of proposed antenna in bio-medium are also compared with results in free space. The simulation study has been carried out using CST Microwave Studio software.

Abstract: An increasing amount of municipal solid waste and its consequent problems of disposal have become a major environmental issue in urban areas besides touristic and pilgrimage activities add the problem manifold. Municipal waste is generated from residential, commercial, institutional and industrial sources which consist of paper, plastics, glass, cloth, metals, organic waste and ashes etc. Present study was carried out in Haridwar city, a famous religious cum tourist spot of India. This study contains the results of two different type of wastes i.e. house hold and commercial waste. The aim of the study was to determine whether there is a connection between areas’ socio-economic status and quantities and qualities of waste produced. The study was based on solid waste generation rate of four socio-economic levels i.e. higher, medium, lower and mixed. In commercial area 100 shops of various kinds were selected, out of these only 68% respond.
