The Convergence of the SOR Iterative Method with Parameters in Preconditioned

Abstract: In using the SOR iterative method for solving linear system Ax=b, this paper gives the SOR iterative method after preconditioned * with parameters splitting form,* This can make splitting form more generalized, and obtain the common preconditioned SOR iterative method when α=1. By using matrix iterative analysis and comparison theorems to discuss convergence rate of this SOR iterative method after preconditioned with parameters splitting form is not only to accelerate the SOR iterative method, but also to excel the general SOR iterative method after preconditioned. Then find the spectral radius change trend by changing parametersα, and obtain the parameter optimal selection in γ=α, at this time the convergence rate is fastest. Finally the numerical example is given to verify the conclusions.(* Indicates a formula, please see the full text)
IPET and FETR: Experimental Approach for Studying Molecular Structure Dynamics by Cryo-Electron Tomography of a Single-Molecule Structure

Abstract: The dynamic personalities and structural heterogeneity of proteins are essential for proper functioning. Structural determination of dynamic/heterogeneous proteins is limited by conventional approaches of X-ray and electron microscopy (EM) of single-particle reconstruction that require an average from thousands to millions different molecules. Cryo-electron tomography (cryoET) is an approach to determine three-dimensional (3D) reconstruction of a single and unique biological object such as bacteria and cells, by imaging the object from a series of tilting angles. However, cconventional reconstruction methods use large-size whole-micrographs that are limited by reconstruction resolution (lower than 20 ?), especially for small and low-symmetric molecule (<400 kDa). In this study, we demonstrated the adverse effects from image distortion and the measuring tilt-errors (including tilt-axis and tilt-angle errors) both play a major role in limiting the reconstruction resolution. Therefore, we developed a “focused electron tomography reconstruction” (FETR) algorithm to improve the resolution by decreasing the reconstructing image size so that it contains only a single-instance protein. FETR can tolerate certain levels of image-distortion and measuring tilt-errors, and can also precisely determine the translational parameters via an iterative refinement process that contains a series of automatically generated dynamic filters and masks. To describe this method, a set of simulated cryoET images was employed; to validate this approach, the real experimental images from negative-staining and cryoET were used. Since this approach can obtain the structure of a single-instance molecule/particle, we named it individual-particle electron tomography (IPET) as a new robust strategy/approach that does not require a pre-given initial model, class averaging of multiple molecules or an extended ordered lattice, but can tolerate small tilt-errors for high-resolution single “snapshot” molecule structure determination. Thus, FETR/IPET provides a completely new opportunity for a single-molecule structure determination, and could be used to study the dynamic character and equilibrium fluctuation of macromolecules.

Abstract: In the title molecule, C14H12N2, the benzimidazole ring system is essentially planar (r.m.s. deviation = 0.024 ). The dihedral angle between the imidazole ring and the benzyl ring is 85.77 (4)°. In the crystal, molecules are linked into chains along the a axis by C—H...N hydrogen bonds. In addition, the packing is stabilized by C—H...π interactions involving both six-membered rings.
Investigation of airborne fungi at different altitudes in Shenzhen University  [PDF]

Abstract: Aim: To investigate the richness of species or genera of airborne fungi, the amount of airborne fungi, and its seasonal variation at different al-titudes in Shenzhen University. The effect of meteorological factors on airborne fungi was also analyzed. Methods: Slide-exposure me- thod and open-plate method were used. Results: There were 27 genera or species of fungus spores identified. Among the identified fungal genus, Cladosporium, Ustilago, Alternaria, Helminth-sporium and Uredinales were more prevalent. There were 18 genera of fungi colonies identified. Among which Penicillium, non-sporulating fungi, Aspergillus, Saccharomyces and Cladosporium were more common. The airborne fungal spores were present in the atmosphere of Shenzhen University all year round. The peaks of airborne spores appeared during April and October, while the lowest numbers were observed during January, July and December from March 2005-Febrary 2006. The highest volumes of fungi colonies were observed during April, October and September, while the lowest numbers were de-tected during in January, July and December or May from March 2005-Febrary 2006. The meteoro-logical factors had no relationship between the total monthly spore count at 10 and 30 meter height. At 70 meter, the total spores count was negatively correlated with solar radiation. Conclusions: Most of the fungi spores decreased along with the increase of altitudes.

Abstract: The structural, electronic and optical properties of rocksalt CdO have been studied using the plane-wave-based pseudo-potential density functional theory within generalized gradient approximation. The calculated lattice parameters are in agreement with previous experimental work. The band structure, density of states, and Mulliken charge population are obtained, which indicates that rocksalt CdO having the properties of a halfmetal due to an indirect band gap of -0.51eV. The mechanical properties show that rocksalt CdO is mechanically stable, isotropic and malleable. Significantly, we propose a correct value for ε1(0) of about 4.75, which offers theoretical data for the design and application for rocksalt CdO in optoelectronic materials.
Characteristic parameters and operational curves of γ-Al2O3 nanofiltration membranes

Abstract: The γ-Al2O3 nanofiltration membranes were manufactured by the sol-gel technique. The result of N2 adsorption and desorption test indicates that the characteristic parameters of the membranes: BJH desorption average pore diameter, BJH desorption cumulative volume of pores and BET surface area are about 3.9 nm, 0.33 cm3/g and 245 m2/g respectively, and the pore size distribution is very narrow. The operational curves of γ-Al2O3 nanofiltration membranes of the Ca2+ retention rate vs the trans-membrane pressure, feed concentration of solution treated and pH of solution treated were studied for the first time. It is found that the retention rate for Ca2+increases with the transmembrane pressure increasing and decreases with the feed concentration of CaCl2 solution increasing. The retention of Ca2+ is very much dependent on the pH of the solution. Minimal Ca2+ retention rate is found at the isoelectric point (pH = 7.5).

Abstract: Most of current ontology mapping methods can not treat different mapping tasks in different ways referred to the features of the input ontology. And they combine different mapping strategies without full consideration of the influences on mapping results caused mapping strategies. In view of the above questions, this paper proposes a dynamic mapping policy selection method which can pre-select mapping strategy and use entropy decision-making method to determine the combined weight of the selected strategy. Experiments show that this method can maintain the stability and the commonality, and improve the recall ratio and the precision ratio at the same time.

Hybrid Parallel Bidirectional Sieve based on SMP Cluster

Abstract: In this article, hybrid parallel bidirectional sieve method is implemented by SMP Cluster, the individual computational units joined together by the communication network, are usually shared-memory systems with one or more multicore processor. To high-efficiency optimization, we propose average divide data into nodes, generating double-ended queues (deque) for sieve method that are able to exploit dual-cores simultaneously start sifting out primes from the head and tail.And each node create a FIFO queue as dynamic data buffer to ache temporary data from another nodes send to. The approach obtains huge speedup and efficiency on SMP Cluster.
