Abstract: red beet (beta vulgaris l.) cell suspensions were permeabilized by means of four chemical detergent agents, tween 20, 40 and 80, and triton x-100?, to evaluate the recovery of betacianins (bc). the permeabilizating agent was selected as a function of the quantity of bc released and the contact time. betacianin concentration was measured using digital color image analysis. the results showed that 36% of betacianins was released using triton x-100? (0.7mm) during 10min; using these extraction conditions, the viability remained at 60-70%. this treatment allowed a second growing-cycle, as well as, an additional accumulation of betacianins.

Abstract: this work has as its main objective to analyze the evolution of the public policy regarding social welfare in the post-revolutionary state through the analysis of one of its main institutions: the mexican social security institute (mssi), from 1941 to 1958. we seek to explain how were the post-revolutionary social welfare policies determined by the requirements of the political system as well as subordinated to the industrialization project promoted by that period's administrations, as many authors have previously stated. nevertheless, the changes in such policies are also explained by the transformations of the institutions responsible of social welfare. in this case, internal changes at mssi during the period analysed, help us understand this institute's posterior expansion.

Abstract: El trabajo tiene como objetivo revisar la evolución del eje de las políticas de bienestar social del Estado posrevolucionario: el Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social (IMSS), de 1941 a 1958. Buscamos mostrar cómo las políticas de bienestar social posrevolucionarias estuvieron determinadas por los requerimientos del sistema político y subordinadas al proyecto de industrialización promovido por los gobiernos de la época, como apuntan diversos autores. Sin embargo, los cambios de tales políticas se explican también por las transformaciones de las organizaciones responsables del bienestar social. En este caso, los cambios internos del IMSS durante el periodo analizado, nos ayudan a entender la expansión posterior del Instituto.

Abstract: a sheet of expanded metal is conventionally fabricated from sheet metal that is slit and stretched (expanded) to form a structure with interstices. (mulder, 2005). when expanding the metal a diamond like cell pattern is formed which is characterised by two geometrical axes. this product can be used for catwalks, electrical applications, safety fences, decorative purposes and also as reinforcement for concrete. currently expanded metal is used for structural application, however little information can be found regarding the behavior of structural elements made of expanded metal. the aim of this paper is to study the axial collapse of square and round tubes made of expanded metal sheet under compressive loading to describe the global behavior of these structures. quasi-static compression tests were performed at room temperature in a mts machine in order to investigate the influence of the angle formed between the major axis of the expanded metal and the load direction. from the results, three types of collapse response were observed depending on the orientation of the axes: (1) mode 1 characterized by a plastic collapse mechanism; (2) mode 2 local buckling of the individual cells; and (3) mode 3 global buckling of the tube walls.

Abstract: Lead is a producing agent of atherosclerosis, dislipemias and arterial hypertension, modifies endothelial function and pro atherosclerotics biochemical parameters. These modifications are observable by evaluation of endothelial function, carotid intima media thickness (IMT), microalbuminuria and lipids elevation. Objective: evaluate in lead intoxicated patients that not have undergone previous thrombotic cardiovascular event (acute coronary Syndrome, cerebrovascular accident, peripheral acute arterial occlusion) the asociation between endothelial injury parameters. Material and method: 15 people were included, ages between 30 and 65 years, of both sexes. Plombemia by atomic absorption espectrofotometry, microalbuminuria by turbidimetric method, lipid profile, ultrasensible protein C. IMT average of 12 segments with serial transducer and ecographic Toshiba Xario was obtain. Statistic: Chi square, t of Student-Fisher, variance analysis, simple and multiple regression and parameters of validation, considering statistical meaning p< 0,05. Results: Smokers 6%, arterial hypertension 22%, 100% dyslipemia. No diabetic patient. 13, 3% received quelation treatment 10 years from anteriority to this study. Plombemia: 27±5 ug/dl. Microalbuminuria: 100% presented values superior to 20mg/24. Ultrasensible protein C: average of 7,5 mg/L, rank of 5mg/L to 12 mg/L. IMT of bilateral common carotid: 1.01 mm (normal Value: <0.8mm), IMT of bilateral total carotid 1,1 mm (normal Value:< 1mm), 60% presented IMT increases (from 20 to 40%). Correlation between biochemical and ecographic markers of endothelial injury and association between number of cardiovascular risk factors and atherosclerosis were observed. This association is powered by lead poisonous effect.

Abstract: Este texto presenta la importancia de los métodos de aprendizaje, tanto para la ense anza de la geografía, como para la prevención y atención de problemas socioambientales concretos. Para este propósito, se expondrá el análisis de una experiencia pedagógica llevada a cabo con estudiantes de secundaria, en torno al impacto de las acciones humanas avaladas, en forma directa e indirecta, por las autoridades gubernamentales locales y nacionales sobre el sistema de humedales que forman parte de la franja costera de la ciudad de Colonia del Sacramento, Uruguay. Se espera demostrar cómo la ense anza de la geografía en la secundaria, desde una postura reflexiva, crítica y activa, favorece el desarrollo de capacidades cognitivas en los educandos que redundan en la formación de individuos responsables, autónomos y con capacidad crítica, capaces de dar soluciones y tomar decisiones con respecto a problemas concretos como el arriba enunciado.

Abstract: Una lámina de metal expandido es fabricada convencionalmente de una lámina de metal que es cortada y estirada (expandida) para formar una estructura con intersticios. (Mulder, 2005). Cuando se expande el metal se forma un patrón de celdas similar a un diamante el cual está caracterizado por dos ejes geométricos. Este producto puede ser usado para pasarelas, aplicaciones eléctricas, vallas de seguridad, propósitos decorativos y también como refuerzo para concreto. Actualmente el metal expandido es usado para aplicaciones estructurales, sin embargo poca información puede encontrarse en relación al comportamiento estructural de elementos fabricados con metal expandido. Este artículo tiene como objeto estudiar el colapso axial de tubos cuadrados y circulares fabricados con láminas de metal expandido bajo cargas compresivas a fin describir el comportamiento global de estas estructuras. Ensayos de compresión cuasi-estáticos fueron realizados a temperatura ambiente en una máquina MTS a fin de investigar la influencia del ángulo formado entre el eje mayor de la lámina de metal expandido y la dirección de la carga. De los resultados, tres tipos de respuesta de colapso se observó en función de la orientación de los ejes: (1) Modo 1 caracterizado por un mecanismo de colapso plástico; (2) Modo 2 pandeo local de las celdas individuales; y (3) Modo 3 pandeo global de las paredes de los tubos. Abstract:

Epidermal Barrier integrity is deteriorated in many skin conditions, including Atopic Dermatitis, and could be responsible for many of the associated clinical symptoms. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of REPAVAR ATOPIC SKIN BODY CREAM EXTREME, product containing “SKIN CALM COMPLEX” on barrier epidermis structure. Morphologic and structural evaluations were conducted on reconstructed human epidermis, by qualitative (hematoxylin/eosin- and immune-staining) and quantitative (MTT assay) techniques. Immature (Age Day 10) and mature (Day 17) sample tissues were treated with the product for 24 hours or 7 days, respectively. Morphological and quantitative analysis revealed an increase in the thickness of the epidermis in both cases after the treatment. The study by immunostaining showed that Product-treated tissues presented excellent localization of: 1) E-cadherin in keratinocytes of the spinous layer; 2) Filaggrin and Loricrin, in the granular layer; and 3) increased expression of Involucrin and Keratin 10 in suprabasal layers and 4) elevated expression of Keratin 5 in the basal layer of the epidermis. The product REPAVAR ATOPIC SKIN BODY CREAM EXTREME increases the epithelial regeneration and differentiation determined by cell proliferation and the expression and localization of specific proteins, improving the epidermal barrier effect.
