Abstract: The purpose of the study was to estimate the prevalence of insufficient physical activityand associated factors in adolescents 10 to 19 years old living in the Health Districts of Restinga and Extremo Sul of Porto Alegre, RS. A population-based, cross-sectional study was conducted by a systematic sampling with 967 adolescents randomly selected. Data was collected by using a questionnaire withthe following variables: gender, age, skin color, if currently studying, occupation, socioeconomic status, weight and height, as well as insufficient physical activity, which was defined as less than 300 minutes per week of physical activity, not counting physical education classes. The prevalence of insuficiente physical activity found was 70.5%: 58.9% in boys and 81.9% in girls. The higher prevalence of insufficient levels of PA was found among adolescents who are not studying (p=0.01) and next by those who are between 16 and 19 years old (p=0.05). In boys it was observed that as they got older, physical activity decreased (p=0.05). The most types of activities found were field soccer and riding bikes for boys, and walking and field soccer for girls. In conclusion, the prevalence of insufficient physical activity found in the adolescentes evaluated was high. Being a girl, not studying, and between the ages of 16 and 19, were factors that increased the levels of insufficient physical activity. This reveals, therefore, the importance to developed interventions to promote the practice of physical activityin this population.

Ciência & Saúde , 2010,
Abstract: Introduction: The urinary incontinence (UI) occurs among 30 and 60% of women during menopause. It generates a negative impact interfering in aspects such as physical, psychological and social women daily routine, affecting their quality of life. Considering these implications and, based on the consideration that every woman experience this problem in a unique way, an integrated approach is required, anchored in humanized precepts. Objective: To report the implementation of a women′s group focused in the health education, urinary incontinence prevention and treatment in a Basic Health Unit in the city of Porto Alegre. Description of the experience: The work was based in an open group dynamic, focused on achievement and learning of kinesiotherapeutic techniques to reeducate the pelvic floor function, along with the promotion of a support program to exchange urinary incontinence related information and experiences. The meetings were held weekly and divided into two parts: open dialogue and, after, the kinesiotherapy program. Conclusion: The activities encouraged the exchange of experiences and knowledge construction in the aspects related to UI. The group work showed to be viable and inexpensive, allowing easy access to information about UI to a greater number of women. The group implementation, with an interdisciplinary focus, contributed to expand the health vision in order to an integral and humanized assistance in urinary incontinence related aspects. Towards classification of simple finite dimensional modular Lie superalgebras
Dimitry Leites
Mathematics , 2007,
Abstract: A way to construct (conjecturally all) simple finite dimensional modular Lie (super)algebras over algebraically closed fields of characteristic not 2 is offered. In characteristic 2, the method is supposed to give only simple Lie (super)algebras graded by integers and only some of the non-graded ones). The conjecture is backed up with the latest results computationally most difficult of which are obtained with the help of Grozman's software package SuperLie.
How to superize Liouville equation
Dimitry Leites
Mathematics , 2000, DOI: 10.2991/jnmp.2000.7.3.2
Abstract: So far, there are described in the literature two ways to superize the Liouville equation: for a scalar field (for $N\leq 4$) and for a vector-valued field (analogs of the Leznov--Saveliev equations) for N=1. Both superizations are performed with the help of Neveu--Schwarz superalgebra. We consider another version of these superLiouville equations based on the Ramond superalgebra, their explicit solutions are given by Ivanov--Krivonos' scheme. Open problems are offered.
The Index Theorem for Homogeneous Differential Operators on Supermanifolds
Dimitry Leites
Mathematics , 2002,
Abstract: In mid 60s Bott proved that (1) the index theorem for homogeneous, G-invariant, elliptic differential operators acting in the spaces of sections of induced representations of G over G/H reduces to the Weyl character formula and (2) the index of an equivariant elliptic operator does not depend on the operator, but on the representations. Here the same theorem is formulated for the unitary supergroup G=U(p|q). For atypical representations the character formula does not reduce to that for the Lie group underlying the supergroup G and this contradicts a statement of Rempel and Schmitt on index on supermanifolds (Pseudodifferential operators and the index theorem on supermanifolds. Seminar Analysis, 1981/82, 92--131, Akad. Wiss. DDR, Berlin, 1982; id., Pseudodifferential operators and the index theorem on supermanifolds. Math. Nachr. 111 (1983), 153--175).
The Riemann tensor for nonholonomic manifolds
Dimitry Leites
Mathematics , 2002,
Abstract: For every nonholonomic manifold, i.e., manifold with nonintegrable distribution, the analog of the Riemann tensor is introduced. It is calculated here for the contact and Engel structures: for the contact structure it vanishes (another proof of Darboux's canonical form); for the Engel distribution the target space of the tensor is of dimension 2. In particular, the Lie algebra preserving the Engel distribution is described. The tensors introduced are interpreted as modifications of the Spencer cohomology and, as such, provide with a new way to solve partial differential equations. Goldschmidt's criteria for formal integrability (vanishing of certain Spencer cohomology) are only applicable to ``one half'' of all differential equations, the ones whose symmetries are induced by point transformations. Lie's theorem says that the ``other half'' consists of differential equations whose symmetries are induced by contact transformations. Therefore, we can now extend Goldschmidt's criteria for formal integrability to all differential equations.
Indecomposable representations of Lie superalgebras
Dimitry Leites
Mathematics , 2002,
Abstract: In 1960's I. Gelfand posed a problem: describe indecomposable representations of any simple infinite dimensional Lie algebra of polynomial vector fields. Here, by applying the elementary technique of Gelfand and Ponomarev, a toy model of the problem is solved: finite dimensional indecomposable representations of vect(0|2), the Lie superalgebra of vector fields on the (0|2)-dimensional superspace, are described. Since vect (0|2) is isomorphic to sl(1|2) and osp(2|2), their representations are also described. The result is generalized in two directions: for sl(1|n) and osp(2|2n). Independently and differently J. Germoni described indecomposable representation of the series sl(1|n) and several individual Lie superalgebras. Partial results for other simple Lie superalgebras without Cartan matrix are reviewed. In particular, it is only for vect(0|2) and sh(0|4) that the typical irreducible representations can not participate in indecomposable modules; for other simple Lie superalgebras without Cartan matrix (of series vect(0|n), svect(0|n)$, svect(0|n)', spe(n) for n>2 and sh(0|m) for m>4) one can construct indecomposable representations with arbitrary composition factors. Several tame open problems are listed, among them a description of odd parameters
On unconventional integrations and cross ratio on supermanifolds
Dimitry Leites
Mathematics , 2002,
Abstract: The conventional integration theory on supermanifolds had been constructed so as to possess (an analog of) Stokes' formula. In it, the exterior differential d is vital and the integrand is a section of a fiber bundle of finite rank. Other, not so popular, but, nevertheless, known integrations are analogs of Berezin integral associated with infinite dimensional fibers. Here I offer other unconventional integrations that appear thanks to existence of several versions of traces and determinants and do not allow Stokes formula. Such unconventional integrations have no counterpart on manifolds except in characteristic p. Another type of invariants considered are analogs of the cross ratio for ``classical superspaces''. As a digression, homological fields corresponding to simple Lie algebras and superalgebras are described.
Supersymmetry of the Schroedinger and Korteweg-de Vries operators
Dimitry Leites,Xuan Peiqi
Physics , 1997,
Abstract: In 70's A.A. Kirillov interpreted the stationary Schroedinger (Sturm-Liouville) operator as an element of the dual space to the Virasoro algebra, i.e., the nontrivial central extension of the Witt algebra. He interpreted the KdV operator in terms of the stabilizer of the Schroedinger operator. By studying the coadjoint representation of the simplest nontrivial central extension of a simplest stringy superalgebra, the Neveu--Schwarz superalgebra, Kirillov connected solutions of the KdV and Schroedinger equations. We extend Kirillov's results and find all supersymmetric extension of the Schroedinger and Korteweg-de Vries operators associated with the 12 distinguished stringy superalgebras. We also take into account the odd parameters and the possibility for Time to be a $(1|1)$-dimensional supermanifold. The superization of construction due to Khesin e.a. (Drinfeld--Sokolov's reduction for the pseudodifferential operators) relates the complex powers of the Schroedinger operators we describe to the superized KdV-type hierarchies labeled by complex parameter. Our construction brings the KdV-type equations directly in the Lax form guaranteeing their complete integrability.
