Scientia Et Technica , 2005,

Abstract: the objective of gene therapy for the treatment of cancer is to kill tumor cells but preserve normal tissue. a variety of strategies to achieve these aims have demonstrated promising results in the laboratory, including molecules that can specifically target pre-determined sequences in the dna or rnam; that sequences provide a means to modulate endogenous gene function. the different types of molecules: triplex forming molecules, antisense oligodeoxynucleotides, ribozymes, rna interference, aptamers and decoys, are reviewed in this paper.
El Problema de Investigación: Algunos Aspectos Metodológicos e Históricos
Jaimes Monroy Gustavo
How to measure customer value and its relationship with shareholder value in a business-to-business market How to measure customer value and its relationship with shareholder value in a business-to-business market How to measure customer value and its relationship with shareholder value in a business-to-business market

Intangible Capital , 2010, DOI: 10.3926/ic.139
Abstract: Intangible assets are difficult to measure, but nowadays the value of the shares of firms in the stock exchange market contains a high percentage of intangible capital and customers are one of the main intangible assets which should be evaluated. This paper presents and discusses some tools to measure the value of customers. But first, it is mandatory to define and clarify the relationships among the concepts of Customer Equity (CE), Life Time Value (LTV) and Customer Relationship Management (CRM). LTV is the best financial outcome to measure customer value, so the paper reviews the literature on some mathematical models to calculate LTV. We propose an equation for LTV in order to apply it in a business-to-business market, and an analysis of the influence factors involved in it is made, focusing especially in the link between LTV and shareholder value. Finally, we propose as future lines of research, the relational equity approach as the perfect complement to the customer equity analysis and a way to estimate LTV for actual cases of publicly traded firms using published information.

Variation of Total Ozone during 24 August 2005 Magnetic Storm: A Case Study  [PDF]
Gustavo A. Mansilla
Atmospheric and Climate Sciences (ACS) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/acs.2013.34049
Abstract:

This paper presents the longitudinal distribution of total ozone along several latitudinal circles from both hemispheres during a strong geomagnetic storm that occurred on 24 August 2005 after a solar proton event (the maximum flux of protons with energy > 10 MeV was 1.70 × 107 protons cm-2.day-1.sr-1 on 23 August). For that, we use average daily values of total ozone observations (=column ozone amount) in Dobson units for the period 18-25 August 2005 (obtained from the Total Ozone Mapping Spectrometer, TOMS). The considered storm occurred after a relatively quiet geomagnetic period and it is not superposed by another perturbation, which permit us to identify clearly the effects of the geomagnetic storm on total ozone. The results show statistically significant decreases in ozone along the latitudinal circles 70°N and 70°S (summer and winter), no statistically significant effects at middle latitudes (40°S) and sparse statistically significant increases at low latitudes (20°S). The role of some mechanisms to explain the features observed is considered.

Radiolanthanides Device Production  [PDF]

Abstract: 149Pm, 166Ho, 161Tb and 177Lu conjugated to chemical agents (monoclonal antibodies, polypeptide, etc.) have the appropriate decay characteristics for imaging and therapeutic studies and consequently the potential to be useful in radiotherapy and diagnosis. These carrier-free radioisotopes can be produced by neutron irradiation of a lanthanide target followed by β-?decay, and a posterior radiochemical separation of the daughter radionuclide from macro-amounts of the parent target. In order to produce carrier free 149Pm, 161Tb, 166Ho and 177Lu for radiotherapy, with a radionuclide purity of more than 99.9%, a device production was developed based on separation of Nd/Pm, Gb/Tb, Dy/Ho and Yb/Lu by extraction chromatography.
