Abstract: A base population was established through multi-parent random crossing by using Taigu dominant male-sterile wheat, and then five cycles of 2-way selection for four quantitative characters were conducted.The dynamic changes of genetic structures in the open-pollinated wheat population were examined by RAPD technique.Seven primers in RAPD analysis amplified 116 sites. The results of gene frequencies and phenotypic bands showed abundant genetic variations existed in the population. The percentage of polymorphic loci was 88.79, and the average heterozygosity was 0.3143 in the whole population. The genetic distance of RAPD showed as follows: (1) The genetic distance within a subpopulation was lower than that between every two subpopulations. (2) Each subpopulation had considerable divergence compared with unselected population. (3) The genetic distances between the subpopulations which were selected for plant height gradually increased accompanied with the selection. (4) The genetic distance between subpopulations which were selected for the same character was lower than that were selected for different characters both in the same generation and among different generations.The cluster results of RAPD genetic distance demonstrated that the subpopulations selected for the same character going to one cluster. It also showed that the selective effect of increasing plant height was obvious.
Enzymes and genes involved in the betalain biosynthesis in higher plants

Abstract: Betalains, a class of water-soluble nitrogen-containing pigments, replace anthocyanins and serve the analogous functions in 13 families of the order, caryophyllales. They modulate the attractive appearance of plants and protect them against destructive oxidative damage. Their antioxidant roles, radical scavenging properties in human health and their potential uses in food and pharmaceutical industries have made significant progress achieved in the detection, purification, quantification, structure elucidation of betalains, and in particular in the understanding of biosynthetic pathways of the pigments, the enzymes and their genes involved in the pathways. In this paper, major progress in betalain biosynthesis and the enzymes and genes involved in the biosynthetic pathways in higher plant are reviewed, and the perspectives discussed.
Synchronization criteria for general coupling complex networks with time varying delay

Abstract: Synchronization problem for general coupling complex networks with time varying delay is studied. The restriction on the out-coupling matrix of a dynamical network that is always assumed to be symmetric or irreducible is removed. Complex eigenvalues for the general out-coupling matrix are considered and complex vectors are dealt with accordingly. Based on Lyapunov stability theory, the matrix decomposition technique and linear matrix inequalities(LMIs), the sufficient condition of synchronization stability is developed by constructing an appropriate Lyapunov function. In addition, synchronization problem of a numerical example is simulated to verify the effectiveness of the proposed conclusion. The results show that the condition is much less conservative than the existing ones in literature.

Abstract: In the crystal structure of the title complex, [Cu(C6H4N5)2(CH3OH)2]n, the CuII cation lies on an inversion center and is coordinated by four 5-(3-pyridyl)tetrazolate anions and two methanol molecules in an elongated distorted CuN4O2 octahedral geometry. Each 5-(3-pyridyl)tetrazolate anion bridges two CuII cations, forming a two-dimensional polymeric complex with (4,4) network topology. In the crystal structure, the two-dimensional layers are connected by intermolecular O—H...N hydrogen bonding, forming a three-dimensional supramolecular architecture.

Abstract: Retinol-binding proteins (RBPs) are a kind of circulating carrier proteins for serum and cellular retinol and retinol acid, which are lipid-soluble vitamins, and are members of hydrophobic binding protein family. Serum RBPs were synthesized primarily in liver, then was released into blood streams, and then to various tissues. Under the interaction with substances such as retinol, pre-albumin and the receptors of cellular surface, they play important roles in storage, metabolism of VitA and transport of VitA to the target cells. Cellular RBPs play the similar function as serum RBPs in intracell. This review introduces action mechanism, tissue localization and developmental expression of retinol-binding proteins. This review also introduces the structure, chromosome mapping and their relationships with reproductive performance of retinol-binding protein genes.

Abstract: 本文研究重力异常分离的相关法,它由测点坐标的多项式方程构建区域异常,由观测异常减去区域异常计算剩余异常,根据最大化已知测点的目标密度分界面深度与剩余异常的互相关原则来分离重力异常.互相关的最大化目标可写为最小二乘方程,并利用线性或非线性优化算法迭代求解出构建区域异常的多项式系数,进而可计算出全区的区域异常和目标密度分界面的剩余异常,实现重力异常分离.理论重力异常试验结果表明,相关法直接有效地利用了已知测点的目标密度分界面深度信息,分离效果良好、反映实际地质情况.

8-bromo-7-methoxychrysin-induced apoptosis of hepatocellular carcinoma cells involves ROS and JNK

Abstract: AIM: To investigate whether the apoptotic activities of 8-bromo-7-methoxychrysin (BrMC) involve reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation and c-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK) activation in human hepatocellular carcinoma cells (HCC).METHODS: HepG2, Bel-7402 and L-02 cell lines were cultured in vitro and the apoptotic effects of BrMC were evaluated by flow cytometry (FCM) after propidium iodide (PI) staining, caspase-3 activity using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), and DNA agarose gel electrophoresis. ROS production was evaluated by FCM after dichlorodihydrofluorescein diacetate (DCHF-DA) probe labeling. The phosphorylation level of JNK and c-Jun protein was analyzed by Western blotting.RESULTS: FCM after PI staining showed a dose-dependent increase in the percentage of the sub-G1 cell population (P < 0.05), reaching 39.0% ± 2.8% of HepG2 cells after 48 h of treatment with BrMC at 10 μmol/L. The potency of BrMC to HepG2 and Bel-7402 (32.1% ± 2.6%) cells was found to be more effective than the lead compound, chrysin (16.2% ± 1.6% for HepG2 cells and 11.0% ± 1.3% for Bel-7402 cell) at 40 μmol/L and similar to 5-flurouracil (33.0% ± 2.1% for HepG2 cells and 29.3% ± 2.3% for Bel-7402 cells) at 10 μmol/L. BrMC had little effect on human embryo liver L-02 cells, with the percentage of sub-G1 cell population 5.4% ± 1.8%. Treatment of HepG2 cells with BrMC for 48 h also increased the levels of active caspase-3, in a concentration-dependent manner. z-DEVD-fmk, a caspase-3-specific inhibitor, prevented the activation of caspase-3. Treatment with BrMC at 10 μmol/L for 48 h resulted in the formation of a DNA ladder. Treatment of cells with BrMC (10 μmol/L) increased mean fluorescence intensity of DCHF-DA in HepG2 cells from 7.2 ± 1.12 at 0 h to 79.8 ± 3.9 at 3 h and 89.7 ± 4.7 at 6 h. BrMC did not affect ROS generation in L-02 cells. BrMC treatment failed to induce cell death and caspase-3 activation in HepG2 cells pretreated with N-acetylcysteine (10 mmol/L). In addition, in HepG2 cells treated with BrMC (2.5, 5.0, 10.0 μmol/L) for 12 h, JNK activation was observed. Peak JNK activation occurred at 12 h post-treatment and this activation persisted for up to 24 h. The expression of phosphorylated JNK and c-Jun protein after 12 h with BrMC-treated cells was inhibited by N-acetylcysteine and SP600125 pre-treatment, but GW9662 had no effect. SP600125 substantially reduced BrMC-induced cell death and caspase-3 activation of HepG2 cells. N-acetylcysteine and GW9662 also attenuated induction of cell death and caspase-3 activation in HepG2 cells treated with BrMC.CONC

Abstract: During the last few years,advances in livestock genome projects have been remarkable.Species-specific genetic maps exist for pig,chicken,cattle,sheep,horse,and deer with marker intervals of 5 to 20 cM.These maps have been essential for the identification of genes and genetic markers associated with importantly economic traits in livestock.In this paper,advances of gene map,comparative map,the genes for importantly economic traits and quantitative trait loci (QTL) mapping were briefly introduced in sheep.
Spectrophotometric determination of cobalt in copper alloy with picramazochrom

Abstract: The coloring reaction between coloring reagent picramazochrom and cobalt was studied.In ammonium citrate-ammonia water solution at pH 10,cobalt could react with picramazochrom to form a green complex,which had maximum absorption wavelength at 650 nm.The apparent molar absorptivity was 2.62×104 L·mol-1·cm-1.Beer’s law was obeyed for cobalt in the range of 0-2.0 mg/L.The interference of matrix in solution could be eliminated by adding zinc to replace copper.The proposed method had been applied to the determination of cobalt in copper alloy,and the results were consistent with those obtained by nitroso R salt spectrophotometry.The relative standard deviation(RSD,n=5) was less than 2%,and the recovery was close to 100%.
