Espa?o Ameríndio , 2008,
Abstract: ABSTRACT: The Jesuitic reductions in Paraguay were characterized for establishing a place of direct and continuous contact between Christianity and the natives. The priests seeked to offer Indians guidance on an everyday basis to the Christian life through masses, preaching, teaching and sacraments. Sacramental confession, above all else, had a fundamental role since it served not only as a way of redemption to the sinners, but also as a way for priests to keepthemselves informed about the progress of evangelization in the reductional environment: they believed that the more confessions that were performed, the more widespread would Christianreligion be in native life. The present article will analyze how the assimilation of the sacrament came to be among the Indians and how Ignatian discourse adapts itself to the difficulties that arise.
OBJETOS, TéCNICAS E SUBJETIVIDADES DE FORA: A COSMOLOGIA SUL-AMERíNDIA NO CONTATO COLONIAL DO SéCULO XVIII
GUILHERME GALHEGOS FELIPPE
Espa?o Ameríndio , 2011,
Abstract: The contact between indigenous groups and colonial agents in the Plata Basin region was marked by an unstable complex relationship, with moments of peaceful approach and hostile retraction. This was, in great part, due to the fact that the South Amerindian ontology was based on the goods’ trade between individuals and groups, aiming social reproduction. This paper demonstrates that the incorporation of foreign elements and the acquisition of western techniques have involved substantial renovations in South Amerindian sociological system. Therefore, that conflict of cosmologies led to an unstable relationship between natives and Spaniards.
O REGISTRO DO BATISMO EM OPOSI O AO DA CONVERS O: O DISCURSO INACIANO NAS MISS ES DO PARAGUAI NA PRIMEIRA METADE DO SéCULO XVII

Espa?o Ameríndio , 2007,
Abstract: ABSTRACT: In light of the objectives imposed by the missionary enterprise and the needs of the evangelical labor - amongst which, the registry by correspondence of the day-to-day in the reductions -, the Jesuits have placed in the baptism a great importance, not only as a rite of passage on the conversion to Christianity, but also as an instrument of discourse to confirm the conversion of the natives and, thus, to prove to their superiors the adequate progress of thereductions. However, by analyzing the Ignatian discourse, a great incidence of stories that highlight the incidence of the baptism can be perceived, without there being the same proportion of stories proving these recently baptized Indians.

Mathematics , 2015,
Abstract: We show that a complete Euclidean submanifold with minimal index of relative nullity $\nu_0>0$ and Ricci curvature with a certain controlled decay must be a $\nu_0$-cylinder. This is an extension of the classical Hartman cylindricity theorem.
Incidence of Retromolar Foramen in Human Mandibles: Ethnic and Clinical Aspects Incidencia del Foramen Retromolar en Mandibulas Humanas: Aspectos étnicos y Clínicos

Abstract: The retromolar foramen allows the passage of the neurovascular bundles that contribute to nutrition and innervation of the pulp and periodontium of the lower teeth. Knowledge of this anatomical variation may prevent complications in the anesthesia and surgical procedures in this area and serve as an anatomical landmark for ethnic identification. The aim of this study was to evaluate the impact of the retromolar foramen in human mandibles of adult Brazilians and discuss the clinical and ethnic related to the presence of this foramen. Were evaluated 222 human mandibles, dry, adults, Brazilians, independent of gender. The evaluation was performed by two examiners who standardized search from a previous anatomical study. The mandibles were analyzed: the presence of the retromolar foramen (bilateral or unilateral), the presence of the foramen on right and left sides, and the number of foramens present on each side. It was found that 59 had at least one mandible retromolar foramens resulting in an incidence of 26.58%. The retromolar foramen was present unilaterally in 41 mandibles and 18 bilaterally, with incidences of 18.47% and 12.16% respectively. On the right side, the retromolar foramen was present in incidences of 16.22% and 18.92% respectively. The analysis of the right side of the mandibles revealed that 47.46%, 21.21% and 3.03% had one, two and three foramens, respectively. The left side showed 55.93%, 16.22% and 8.11% of the 222 mandibles with one, two and three retromolar foramens, respectively. The incidence of retromolar foramen in the Brazilian population is significant and should be considered in the planning and execution of procedures in several areas of clinical practice dentistry in order to avoid complications. Moreover, it was found that the incidence of retromolar foramen contributes to differentiation of ethnic groups in the area of forensic anthropology. Brazilian Journal of Otorhinolaryngology , 2009, DOI: 10.1590/S1808-86942009000400014
Abstract: many studies have shown the consequent gustatory alteration caused by ear surgeries. however, few have reported this alteration in patients with chronic otitis media (com), prior to surgical treatment. aim: to identify gustatory alterations due to chorda tympani nerve involvement in patients with com without prior surgery. methods: clinical essay, with tests based on "taste strips" with different concentrations of salt, sweet, bitter, and sour, was performed in 45 patients with unilateral cholesteatomatous or suppurated com not previously submitted to otological surgery, using the disease-free ear on the contralateral side as control. the score ranged between 0 and 16. results: a total of 25 patients presented cholesteatoma and 20 had non-cholesteatomatous disease. the mean score was 6.65 for the affected side and 9.93 for the half of the tongue on the side of the healthy ear (p<0.001). no patients had complained of gustatory alterations before the examination. among the 24 patients with unilateral hypogeusia, eight cases of unilateral ageusia were found on the affected side. there was an association between cholesteatoma (p=0.055), disease duration (p=0.07) and worsening in gustatory sensitivity. conclusion: patients with com can have gustatory alterations, even in the absence of complaints.
Comparison of risk factors among blood donors, volunteers and replacement individuals, infected or not by hepatitis C virus

Journal of Venomous Animals and Toxins including Tropical Diseases , 2009, DOI: 10.1590/S1678-91992009000100010
Abstract: hepatitis c is transmitted primarily parenterally by contaminated blood and is often associated with: intravenous drug abuse, invasive procedures, blood transfusions, acupuncture, tattooing, and alcohol and tobacco use. this study aimed to quantify and evaluate the risk factors among blood donors, volunteer blood donors and replacement individuals, infected or not by the c virus. the main transmission routes of c virus were identified in 55 men and 25 women (gi) monitored by the ambulatory unit of the department of tropical diseases, botucatu medical school, and in 24 men and 26 women (gii), all active blood donors at the bauru state hospital transfusional agency. both groups were similar in: tobacco and alcohol consumption, sexual behavior, tattooing and illicit drug use. the duration of alcohol and tobacco consumption and blood transfusions in gi were longer, whereas the option for steady partners, condom use, disposable materials and piercings were predominant in gii. in conclusion, the risk factors for hepatitis c demonstrate the necessity of health policies that act on the primary and secondary prevention levels (respectively, reduction of infection incidence and hepatopathy risk).
