Pedagogía de la desmotivación: soy tonto, me llaman inútil: Dos estrategias de socialización secundaria en el hospital

Abstract: this paper aims at making visible the secondary socialization process undergone by the novice -i our case the nursing student- who begins to work for a health care institution. we have used confessional accounts written by the students during the first 20 days of work in the hospital, i.e., during the process of introduction in the setting. in addition to the cultural shock and alienation, it has also been observed that the student’s role corresponds to a transitory discrepant role (goffman, 1959) characterized by invisibility, liminality and the non-existence as a person. the social configuration of the non-being in the hospital scenario is provided with an eccentric subjective realism, which is extremely stressing and with a strong emotional impact. the experiences of the student are supportive evidence.

Abstract: Este estudio pretende hacer visible el proceso de socialización secundaria del novato -en nuestro caso el alumno de enfermería- que se adentra en una institución sanitaria. Para ello se han utilizado narraciones de género confesional escritas por los alumnos durante los primeros veinte días de estancia hospitalaria, es decir, durante el proceso de entrada en el campo. Además del choque cultural y del extra amiento, se ha observado que el papel del alumno responde a un rol discrepante (Goffman, 1959) transitorio caracterizado por la invisibilidad, la liminalidad y la no existencia como persona. La configuración social del no ser en el escenario hospitalario está dotada de un excéntrico realismo subjetivo de gran dureza e impacto emocional. Las vivencias de los alumnos así lo acreditan. Abstract: the evaluation of a scientific-professional author makes sense in a competitive system in which the highest rating has effects in the author?s career or in his access to funding. in the evaluation process it is necessary to consider two differentiated dimensions that are usually confused: the measure method and the data source. the first one must be universal and valid for all authors. the second one should be adapted to the author?s field of study. j.e. hirsch has recently developed a new indicator that apparently resolves the validity problems of the calculation systems known to date. this indicator is called h-index and differs from one scientific community to another, that is, from discipline to discipline, so it is necessary to develop a research that defines its values in all branches of learning (h-index per discipline). the value of number h represents the author?s scientific biography. it doesn?t measure immediacy, but long periods of time. the scientific-professional activity is biographic, therefore it was necessary to create an indicator that measured the career and the route. an acknowledged author in his field will have a higher h-index at the end of his professional life than at his beginnings independently of the journal in which he publishes or in the means used to disseminate his contributions.

Abstract: there is a consistent theoretical and methodological foundations on qualitative health research provided mainly by social sciences. however, this existent overlap between social and health aspects is a wide multidisciplinary field still underexplored. this article offers an overview of the main paradigms, methodologies and theoretical tendencies of qualitative research analyses within the health sciences context. based on an initial classification, two opposite extremes for setting the bounds of the qualitative analysis continuum - from designs focusing on data description, which are purely exploratory, to those which go into theorizing processes so as to draw out interpretations and inferences - are discussed. qualitative research is an important tool in the analysis of health problems from a social and cultural point of view. adopting different procedures such as content and speech analysis, qualitative research approaches communication patterns and examines the diverse language ideologies. sociological and anthropological traditions provide unique methodologies which allow to know the context where the phenomena appear and set out theoretical proposals in order to explain them, for example ethnomethodology or analytical induction. lastly, some keys are suggested for developing a common area, out of which new epistemological perspectives may be set out based on different disciplines coming together.

Abstract: La evaluación de un autor científico-profesional tiene sentido en un sistema competitivo en el que la puntuación más elevada tiene efectos en la carrera del autor o en el acceso a financiación. En el proceso de evaluación hay que considerar dos dimensiones bien diferenciadas que se suelen confundir: el método de medida y la fuente de datos. El primero debe ser universal y válido para todos los autores. El segundo debe estar adaptado al área de conocimiento del autor. Recientemente J.E. Hirsch ha desarrollado un nuevo indicador que parece resuelve los problemas de validez de los sistemas de calculo conocidos hasta ahora. Ese indicador se denomina factor h, y difiere de una comunidad científica a otra, es decir, de disciplina a disciplina, por lo que es necesario desarrollar investigación que defina sus valores en todas las ramas del saber (índice h por disciplina). El valor del número h representa la biografía científica de un autor. No mide inmediatez, sino grandes periodos de tiempo. La actividad científico-profesional es biográfica, por tanto, era necesario crear un indicador que midiera carrera y recorrido. Un autor reconocido en su área, tendrá un mayor factor h al final de su vida profesional que en sus comienzos con independencia de la revista en la que publique o el medio que utilice para la divulgación de sus aportaciones. Abstract: Existe un considerable bagaje teórico y metodológico para desarrollar investigación cualitativa en salud siguiendo la diversidad de tradiciones analíticas que aportan principalmente las ciencias sociales. Sin embargo este maridaje que se produce en torno a lo socio-sanitario abre un espacio multidisciplinar no suficientemente explorado aún que suscita numerosos interrogantes. En este artículo se realiza una visión panorámica de los principales paradigmas, metodologías y orientaciones teóricas que han inspirado los análisis cualitativos en el contexto de las ciencias de la salud. Partiendo de una clasificación primaria, se proponen los dos polos que delimitan el continuum del análisis cualitativo: desde los dise os que ponen énfasis en la descripción de los datos, con un carácter puramente exploratorio, hasta aquéllos se adentran en las formas de teorización para establecer interpretaciones e inferencias. La investigación cualitativa abre un espacio en el análisis de los problemas de salud desde una perspectiva social y cultural, adoptando para ello diversos procedimientos, como el análisis de contenido o el análisis del discurso, que permiten un acercamiento a las formas de comunicación y escudri a en la ideología que se oculta tras el lenguaje. La tradición sociológica y antropológica aportan de esta manera metodologías singulares que permiten conocer el contexto donde surgen los fenómenos y elaborar propuestas teóricas para explicarlos, como es el caso de la etnometodología, la inducción analítica o la teoría fundamentada. Por último se proponen algunas claves para construir un espacio común desde el que construir nuevas perspectivas epistemológicas a partir de la confluencia multidisciplinar.
Revistas internacionales de enfermería: comunidad científica hispanoportuguesa (a?o 2002)

Abstract: objective: to determine the existence of international nursing magazines in the latin american area. methods: longitudinal, bibliographical, retrospective study based on the analysis of the responsibility of articles of 33 nursing magazines from the spanish and portuguese linguistic area. in order to research the international nature of the publications, a double criterion was used simultaneously: the international contribution, that is, the publication of articles from foreign authors; and the cuiden? immediate repercussion (rci) for the year of study, understood as an indicator of the present and visible consumption that an international community does of a scientific magazine. results: the index of international contribution was 6%, with a group of 14 magazines without contribution and a nucleus of seven magazines with an equal value or over 15%. three magazines achieved the double criterion to consider its international nature: index de enfermería, desarrollo científico de enfermería y gerokomos, although it is possible to define a nucleus with a greater scope. conclusions: none of the 33 magazines has a universal scope in the latin american area, neither from a consumption point of view, nor its quotation or the international contribution. a small nucleus of magazines can be defined for the year 2002 with international nature for the area of study: index de enfermería (esp), investigación y educación en enfermería (col), gerokomos (esp), desarrollo científico de enfermería (méx), revista de enfermería del imss (méx). ii is obvious, nevertheless, the immaturity of the latin american area from the international contribution point of view.
Indicadores CUIDEN de repercusión de las revistas de enfermería del área lingüística del espa?ol y del portugués

Abstract: objective. to calculate the impact indicators cuiden from a great amount of iberoamerican nursing magazines. methods. because of its design, it's about a bibliometric study. thirty - three nursing magazines, published in the year 2002, have been included; twenty of them were spanish, five brazilian, three mexican, two colombian, and one from cuba, chile and argentina. for the calculation of the indicators the following variables have been selected: number of articles per magazine, number of quotations which each magazine receives, number of auto quotations and the date of publications of the mentioned articles. three indicators of quotes cuiden have been calculated: historic impact, historic impact excluding auto quotes, and immediate impact. results. from the 33 magazines, there are 9 which stand out. in alphabetical order : index de enfermería (spain), enfermería clínica (spain), enfermería intensiva (spain), desarrollo científico de enfermería (mexico), revista brasileira de enfermagem (brazil), matronas profesión (spain), rol de enfermería (spain), revista latinoamericana de enfermagem (brazil) y gerokomos (spain). conclusions. the linguistic area of spanish and portuguese has got an important number of magazines with a large impact. publishing in magazines with great impact is an element that improves the circulation of any research. nurses must consider this fact and think about the publication on these magazines whatever the country they may be published. nowadays globalization doesn't mean barriers for the circulation of the knowledge.
Indicadores CUIDEN de repercusión de las revistas de enfermería del área lingüística del espa ol y del portugués CUIDEN indicators of the impact of the nursing magazines from the Spanish and Portuguese linguistic area

Abstract: OBJETIVO. Calcular los indicadores de repercusión Cuiden de un conjunto de revistas iberoamericanas de enfermería. MéTODOS. Por su dise o de trata de un estudio bibliométrico. Se han incluido 33 revistas de enfermería publicadas en el a o 2002, de las cuales 20 eran espa olas, 5 brasile as, 3 mexicanas, 2 colombianas, y una revista de Cuba, Chile y Argentina. Para el cálculo de los indicadores se han seleccionado las variables número de artículos por revista, número de citas que recibe cada revista, número de autocitas y fecha de publicación del artículo citado. Se han calculado tres indicadores de citación Cuiden : Repercusión Histórica (Rch ), Repercusión Histórica excluyendo autocitas (Rch-a ), y Repercusión Inmediata (Rci ). RESULTADOS. De las 33 revistas 9 destacan por su Repercusión Inmediata. Por orden de importancia: Index de Enfermería (Espa a), Enfermería Clínica (Espa a), Enfermería Intensiva (Espa a), Desarrollo Científico de Enfermería (México), Revista Brasileira de Enfermagem (Brasil), Matronas Profesión (Espa a), Rol de Enfermería (Espa a), Revista Latinoamericana de Enfermagem (Brasil) y Gerokomos (Espa a). CONCLUSIONES. El área lingüística del espa ol y del portugués posee un número importante de revistas con amplia repercusión. Publicar en las revistas con mayor repercusión es un factor que mejora la difusión de un trabajo de investigación. Las enfermeras deben considerar este hecho y plantearse la publicación en estas revistas, sea cual sea el país en el que se publiquen.
