Entre inconformismo e reformismo
Furtado, Celso;
Estudos Avan?ados , 1990, DOI: 10.1590/S0103-40141990000100013
Abstract: this is a paper-synthesis where the author summarizes his theory of development and underdevelopment. some basic ideas are here presented: the economic theory of development must start wiht the study of history; underdevelopment is a specific historical and economical phenomenon, that cannot be thought in terms of linear stages of history; this historical phenomenon must be studied in structural terms, relating the historic and the economic aspects; the basic characteristic of underdevelopment is the dependency relation, expressed in the center-periphery system; in the study of development the basic concept to start with is the concept of social surplus, its forms of appropriation and utilization. the paper ends with an analysis of the frustrations of a reformist. protectionism, that was justifiable in a first phase of industrialization, was maintained too long in latin america; in a second phase, an active economic policy for exports was necessary. on the other hand the populist risk was always present, while the real social problems related to a high level of income concentration were not solved.

Personae ?Masculinas? na videoarte de mulheres
Ex aequo , 2009,
Abstract: starting from a feminist perspective and based on a deconstructive methodology, this article examines the way in which different european and north american video artists incorporated ?masculinities? into their art. in the 70's, within the context of video art and performance, women artists experienced different personae and cultural role-playing ascribed to gender based on the masculine/feminine dichotomy. in the 80's, artists from the previous decade were rejected as ?essentialists? by feminist theoreticians. from the mid 80's up to the present we witness a resurgence of parody, pleasure and the body, mainly in young lesbian artists' videos, which don't place themselves outside the margins of the social fabric but confidently assert their alterity feeling no need to validate their gender identity while completely integrated in the social framework.
Dialética e contradi??es da constru??o da identidade social
Furtado, Odair;
Psicologia & Sociedade , 2010, DOI: 10.1590/S0102-71822010000200006
Abstract: in this article we aim to discuss the challenges imposed in the work of latin- american psychologists, from the production of knowledge to the practical point of view, which would attend a region of the planet that suffers from endemic problems and at the same time, is of great importance for international financial capital, for big commercial conglomerates. after all, traditional cultural forms survive, cultural constructions that are in constant direct or indirect contact with the cultural ways dominated by the global market. this domination produces important effects on subjective social expressions, the subjective dimensions of reality, reconfiguring the traditional forms of manifestation of culture and demanding strategies of resistance in facing the contradictions between traditional culture and globalized culture. as a way to better understand the functioning of the subjective dimensions, we will discuss the relationship between territory, location of expression of the subject, and the construction of records that require reinterpretation of globalized culture.
