Megasporogenesis and Female Gametophyte Development of Thellungiella halophila

Abstract: We observed the course of megasporogenesis and the development of the female gametophyte of Thellungiella halophila to study the relation between the development stages and the morphological characteristics of flower bud, flower and fruit. The ovary is composed of 2 carpels where a parietal placentation is formed, on which many campylotropous ovules grow. The ovule is bitegminous and tenuinucellate. The archesporial cell lies under the nucellus epidermis, which develops into a functional megasporocyte. The megaspore tetrad is linear. The chalazal megaspore develops into an embryo sac of the polygonum type.
Forest landscape patterns dynamics of Yihe-Luohe river basin

Abstract: Based on the information from forest resources distribution maps of Luoning County of 1983 and 1999, six indices were used to analyze spatial patterns and dynamics of forest landscapes of the typical region in the middle of the Yihe-Luohe river basin. These indices include patch number, mean patch area, fragment index, patch extension index, etc. The results showed that: (1) There was a rapid increase in the number of patch and total area from 1983 to 1999 in the study area. The fragment degree became very high. (2) The area of all the forest patch types had witnessed great changes. The fractal degree of each forest patch type became big from 1983 to 1999. The mean extension index of Robinia pseudoacacia forest, non-forest, shrub forest, sparse forest, and Quercus species forest increased rapidly, but that of economic forest became zero. The fractal dimension each showed that forest coverage has been promoted. (3) The changes of landscape patterns were different in different geomorphic regions. From 1983 to 1999 the vegetation cover area, the gross number and the density of patch, diversity and evenness of landscape were all reduced greatly in gullies and ravines, but the maximum area and the mean area of patch types were increased. In hilly region, both the forest cover area and the number of patch increased from 1983 to 1999, but the mean area of patch was reduced greatly. In mountain region, even though the area under forest canopy reduced from 1983 to 1999, the patch number was increased greatly, the mean area of all patch types was reduced, the extension index, diversity index and evenness index of landscape were all increased. Furthermore, because of different types of land use, human activity and terrain, the vegetation changes on northern and southern mountain slopes were different. According to these analyses, the main driving forces, such as the policies of management, market economy, influence of human activities etc. are brought out.

Abstract: We used morphological features and amplified fragment-length polymorphism (AFLP) markers to analyze the genetic diversity of 45 Osmanthus fragrans cultivars and found high levels of genetic diversity among the cultivars. Of the AFLP bands detected, 57.46% are polymorphic. We classified the cultivars biometrically according to their major morphological features and performed cluster analysis of the AFLP data by the unweighted pair-group method using arithmetic averages. The results of both approaches showed that O. fragrans cultivars of the Guilin region form a distinct subgroup, and flower color is aviable classification criterion. We discuss systems for O. fragrans cultivar classification.
Prevention of chemical carcinogenesis using glutathine S-transferase-pi (GST-pi)

Abstract: In order to explore whether the protective function of GST-pi can prevent transformationin vitro, NIH3T3 cells and carcinogen glycidyl methacrylate (GMA) have been used in cell transformation study. NIH3T3 cells have been transfected with GST-pi cDNA inserted retrovirus vector, pXT1, and then G418 resistant clones have been analyzed by Southern and Northern analyses. NIH3T3/pXGST clones that stably express GST-pi and control cells, untransfected NIH3T3 and NIH3T3/pXT1, have been treated three times discontinuously with GMA. 1.287% of untransfected NIH3T3 and 1.197% of NIH3T3/pXT1, cells obtained a transformation phenotype, forming type III transformed clones, which could grow in soft agar and form fibrosarcoma in nude mice. In comparison, the transformation rate is only 0.007% in NIH3T3/pXGST cells, which could not grow in soft agar and formed no tumorin vivo. The results showed that expression of exogenous GST-pi in NIH3T3 do protect NIH3T3 cells from GMA induced transformationin vitro, which provides an evidence that GST-pi may play a role In preventing chemical carcinogenesis.

Abstract: During the past 30 years, the world’s economy developed rapidly, but the formulation of accounting standards often could not keep up with the pace of economic development as the continuous innovation of financial instruments or derivatives financial instruments, the increasingly frequency of unconventional activities such as merger, acquisition and restructuring, the rapid flowing of global capital, and the development of networking, information science and technology. Thus the lagging and patching method of accounting standards made the conceptual framework which was ever explored in the past back to the IASB agenda again. This paper mainly described the latest progress of the conceptual framework after IASB released Discussion Paper, analyzed the characteristics of the restatement of CF, and proposed several thoughts for the China CF and accounting standards.

Abstract: To enhance the approximation ability of neural networks, by introducing quantum rotation gates to the traditional BP networks, a novel quantum-inspired neural network model is proposed in this paper. In our model, the hidden layer consists of quantum neurons. Each quantum neuron carries a group of quantum rotation gates which are used to update the quantum weights. Both input and output layer are composed of the traditional neurons. By employing the back propagation algorithm, the training algorithms are designed. Simulation-based experiments using two application examples of pattern recognition and function approximation, respectively, illustrate the availability of the proposed model.

Abstract: With social progress and economic development, flood protection, water storage, and pollution absorption of urban rivers have been improved, but at the same time negative effects have been brought about. In urban areas, due to canalization or occupation of river, and forcible alteration of course of rivers, river waters area has been reduced. Natural capacity of rivers is seriously lacking, and the ecosystem services of rivers are gradually weakening. For planning, design and construction of urban landscapes, the concept of ecological restoration must be applied to protect and rationally utilize river landscapes. This paper takes the landscape belt of Huangshui River in Doba New City of Xining as an example to study the Huangshui River. Based on the theory of river course restoration, a “dynamic growth” river restoration system is established, and the restoration process of nature itself is as little as possible. In order to improve the water quality of Huangshui River, control the flow velocity and build the ecological environment, a set of perfect and self-repairing system is created for Huangshui River.

Abstract: The expression of rat Glutathione S-transferase P (GST-P) gene can be induced by many kinds of chemical inducers. We have studied the mechanisms of the expression ofGST-P gene induced by 3 kinds of chemical inducers using the induction of the gene expression by chemical inducers, transient transfection, reporter gene assays, electrophoretic mobility shift assays (EMSA) and Northern blot analysis. The results indicate that the effects and mechanisms of chemical inducers on the expression ofGST-P gene are different. The interaction of AP-1 or other corresponding transcription factors activated by phorbol ester (TPA) or glycidyl methatylate (GMA) and GPEI enhancer element induces the expression ofGST-P gene, while some unknown factors activated by H2O2 interact with GPEII enhancer element.
An Energy-Balanced Clustering Routing Algorithm for Wireless Sensor Network  [PDF]

Abstract: In this paper, we consider a network of energy constrained sensors deployed over a region. Each sensor node in such a network is systematically gathering and transmitting sensed data to a base station (via cluster- heads). This paper focuses on reducing the power consumption of wireless sensor networks. Firstly, we proposed an Energy-balanced Clustering Routing Algorithm called LEACH-L, which is suitable for a large scope wireless sensor network. Secondly, optimum hop-counts are deduced. Lastly, optimum position of transmitting node is estimated. Simulation results show that our modified scheme can extend the network lifetime by up to 80% before first node dies in the network. Through both theoretical analysis and numerical simulations, it is shown that the proposed algorithm achieves higher performance than the existing clustering algorithms such as LEACH, LEACH-M.
Approximate Solution of Fuzzy Matrix Equations with LR Fuzzy Numbers  [PDF]

Abstract: In the paper, a class of fuzzy matrix equations AX=B where A is an m × n crisp matrix and is an m × p arbitrary LR fuzzy numbers matrix, is investigated. We convert the fuzzy matrix equation into two crisp matrix equations. Then the fuzzy approximate solution of the fuzzy matrix equation is obtained by solving two crisp matrix equations. The existence condition of the strong LR fuzzy solution to the fuzzy matrix equation is also discussed. Some examples are given to illustrate the proposed method. Our results enrich the fuzzy linear systems theory.
