The Quantum Unconscious and the Observant Consciousness  [PDF]
Rui Freire Lucas
Psychology (PSYCH) , 2016, DOI: 10.4236/psych.2016.76087

Based on the philosophy of Henri Bergson and the contemporary developments of Quantum Physics, I sought to demonstrate how these developments are incompatible with a positivist vision of reality, which is still influential in the scientific community. Specifically, in the field of Psychoanalysis, I have shown how this outdated epistemology has been responsible for a manic denial of the theories of Carl Gustav Jung and Wilfred Bion (later stage) as part of an immobilising allegiance to a schizo-paranoid functional tradition imposed by its founder. Finally, I have proposed that supported by the formulations of these renegade analysts, psychoanalysis can progress to a depressive position, eventually transmitting this integrated perspective of reality to the rest of the scientific community and postmodern society in general.

On the Influence of Particles Characteristics on Moisture Diffusivity during Drying of Granular Porous Media  [PDF]
José Teixeira Freire, Fábio Bentes Freire, Hugo Perazzini
Advances in Chemical Engineering and Science (ACES) , 2014, DOI: 10.4236/aces.2014.41002

The objective of this work was to study the diffusive mechanisms of mass transfer predominant in the drying of cylindrical unconsolidated granular porous media of different diameters of porous spherical particles. The experimental study was based on determining the drying kinetics of the porous media evaluated and on obtaining the physical properties regarding the particles that constitute them. Moisture data as a function of time were obtained by subjecting the porous media to an upward single-phase flow of heated air at a specific condition of temperature, velocity and absolute humidity of the drying air. The theoretical study regarded the determination of the overall effective diffusion coefficient based on mass transfer foundations. From the results obtained, it was verified that the drying kinetics, for a given operational condition applied, is influenced by particle diameter, and the effective superficial liquid diffusivity is the mechanism that limits the drying process.

What Autists Can Teach Us about Social Interactions and How Psychoanalytic Treatment Can Contribute to It  [PDF]
Ana Beatriz Freire, Fabio Malcher
Psychology (PSYCH) , 2014, DOI: 10.4236/psych.2014.511145

This paper aims to bring contributions from psychoanalysis to the debate about autism. We assume that while working with the autistic it is imperative to single out each case and not to seek out a standardized approach, based on a previous knowledge. The therapist oriented by psychoanalysis starts to work from a point of view where stereotyped or seemingly bizarre behaviors are taken as a resource used by the subject to protect himself from the invasion experienced in his relationship with others. The treatment, therefore, would not seek to eliminate such behaviors, but to promote the elaboration, on the autistic part, of a way of his own to belong in the world, as we will be able to follow in the exposition of a clinical case in which the subject makes use of objects in a unique manner to mediate his relationship with the other and promote his social interaction.

First Time Demonstration of the Quantum Interference Effect during Integration of Cognition and Emotion in Children  [PDF]
Elio Conte, Rui Freire Lucas
World Journal of Neuroscience (WJNS) , 2015, DOI: 10.4236/wjns.2015.52011
Abstract: Quantum cognition is a scientific approach to cognitive phenomena which makes use of the mathematical formalism of quantum theory. Quantum interference effect constitutes one of this theory’s main tenets and has been repeatedly demonstrated experimentally, in the last decade, in adult subjects. In the present paper, we aim to demonstrate, for the first time, the existence of thequantum interference effect on children during an experiment involving an integration of cognition and emotion. Our positive results consolidate the presuppositions of quantum cognition, enlarging its field of application to children’s mental apparatus and evidence the important question to consider the quantum model in the current investigated question of the interaction of cognition and emotion in children at neurological and psychological levels.
O passado como negócio: o tempo revolucionário (1930)
Sandes, Noé Freire;
Estudos Históricos (Rio de Janeiro) , 2009, DOI: 10.1590/S0103-21862009000100007
Abstract: historical memory is the result of a slow negotiation in which political disputes take part in the process of ordering the past. memory and history - in several perspectives - elaborate narratives that provide meaning for the changes which occur in the social world. this paper analyzes the revolutionary process which took place in october 1930 in brazil. as well, it focuses on the distinctions that express the time and place of those who are in charge of interpreting the past.
Valores familiares dos estudantes finalistas da Universidade do Algarve
Análise Psicológica , 2000,
Abstract: it is generally accepted that the family is going through important structural and conceptual changes. but how do the young people perceive the family? this seems to be an important question that should be answered. as such, one is going to present the family values sustained by the students from the university of algarve. a questionnaire with 46 questions concerning the dominating values in western society was used (figueiredo, 1988). the results show that these students experience the family as a very important issue in their lives and that they support the new family values. the family is seen as a tool to promote self-fulfillment. besides, marriage and procriation are dissociated from each other and sex life does not begin with marriage. finally, both husband and wife, have identical rights and duties.
Elei??es de segunda ordem e ciclos eleitorais no Portugal democrático, 1975-2004
Análise Social , 2005,
Abstract: this research explores the relationships between the electoral behaviour of the portuguese in parliamentary, local and european elections in the period from 1975 to 2004. it looks at the development of the party system and at aggregate volatility levels in different types of election. for individual voters it compares the social and political factors affecting voter choice of party in different types of election. we tested theories on election cycles by comparing the overall electoral results of different types of election at different periods of the election cycle, taking as our point of departure the winners of each of the preceding parliamentary elections. the main conclusion is that the relationships between second-tier and first-tier elections reflect not only short-term effects, but also long-term ones.
O jornalista Costa Rego e o tempo revolucionário (1930)
Sandes, Noé Freire;
Revista Brasileira de História , 2008, DOI: 10.1590/S0102-01882008000100003
Abstract: costa rego was one of the most respected journalists of his time. he wrote for the main newspaper of the country, the correio da manh?. in this article i carefully observe rego's analysis of the actuation of the '1934 constituent' and its implications. the richness of his point of view comes out of the accurate look he provides of that revolutionary moment. this journalist contested, with obstinacy, the destruction of his own experience as a public personality, defending the liberal project as a political option for brazil, after the revolution of 1930.
Desempenho da democracia e reformas políticas: O caso português em perspectiva comparada
Sociologia, Problemas e Práticas , 2003,
Abstract: this article provides a comparative analysis of the way the portuguese support the democratic political system. three fundamental conclusions about the situation in portugal uphold the idea that there is a need for the system of political representation to be reformed. first, the citizens have a strong belief in the basic principles of democracy. second, there is sharp criticism of politicians, growing dissatisfaction with what democracy is delivering and severe alienation with the governing powers. third, the profile of the development and the causes of voter abstention indicate that it is not the effects of the normalization of democracy that we are confronting.
Identidades ideológicas e partidárias na europa: Portugal, Espanha e Grécia em perspectiva comparativa
Sociologia, Problemas e Práticas , 2005,
Abstract: this article undertakes a systematic comparison of the extent and development of ideological and party-political identities among the electorate in the new democracies of southern europe (portugal, spain and greece) with those of electorates in eight other democratic countries of the old continent from 1976 to 2002. bearing in mind the intervening periods when dictatorships ruled in southern europe, the conditions for forming party-political and ideological identities, particularly in terms of left and right were not favourable. for this reason the article seeks to establish in the first instance whether party-political and ideological identity is less well disseminated among the people of the new democracies; and secondly, it demonstrates growth trends which may go counter to those in the older democracies.
