TAXONOMíA Y DISTRIBUCIóN DE LOS ANOFELINOS EN EL ESTADO DE VERACRUZ, MéXICO (DIPTERA: CULICIDAE, ANOPHELINAE)

Abstract: La malaria o paludismo es una enfermedad humana causada por protozoarios del género Plasmodium y es transmitida por hembras de mosquito de ciertas especies de Anopheles. Se estima que en México el 33.1% de la población vive en áreas donde puede ocurrir la transmisión de la malaria. Veracruz es un estado donde la enfermedad es endémica debido a diversos factores que lo hacen una zona de riesgo para la transmisión, entre ellos las condiciones climáticas y la migración humana. Por lo anterior, en este trabajo se presentan las bases para la reactivación de la vigilancia entomológica del paludismo en el estado de Veracruz, para lo cual se provee la diagnosis ilustrada de la larva, la pupa y los adultos de ambos sexos de las especies de anofelinos del estado, así como las claves taxonómicas que permiten su reconocimiento, con base en el examen de ejemplares recolectados o depositados en colecciones entomológicas de referencia. También se obtuvieron mapas de distribución conocida y potencial de las especies por medio de GARP. Se mencionan además algunos datos bionómicos y la importancia médica de cada especie. Se conocen en Veracruz 18 especies de anofelinos, agrupadas en dos géneros, Chagasia con una especie y Anopheles con 17 pertenecientes a los subgéneros An. (Anopheles), An. (Kerteszia) y An. (Nyssorhynchus). Se reconocen cuatro grupos de especies de acuerdo a su capacidad de transmisión de plasmodios y por su amplitud de distribución: el grupo de alto riesgo constituido por 2 especies; el grupo de riesgo moderado o regional, con 8 especies; el de escaso riesgo, con 3 especies y el de riesgo nulo con 5 especies. Prácticamente todo el estado posee vectores potenciales por lo que debe reestablecerse la vigilancia permanente de sus poblaciones. Este trabajo aporta elementos de juicio para que el estado pueda ser, en un futuro cercano, certificado como área libre de paludismo.

Abstract: infections of induced malaria are transmitted by blood transfusion, transplant of organs and contaminated needles of injection equipment. during the period between june of 2005 and april of 2006, three cases of inducted malaria were recorded in public and private health institutions because of to delayed diagnosis and bad praxis in nursing techniques. this situation should lead the regional health corporation to review the rules and techniques of endovenous transfusion in the hospital, updating health personnel in diagnostic techniques, treatment and handling of patients with contagious diseases and maintaining appropriate supervision over the functionality and hospital care.

Abstract: the afro-asian freshwater copepod mesocyclops aspericornis (daday, 1906), deemed as an exotic species in the americas, is known to occur disjunctly in mexico, south america, and the insular caribbean. adult females of this species were recorded.from samples collected in the state of veracruz, on the atlantic coast of mexico.the morphology of these specimens is identical in most characters to those described or depicted in previous taxonomic accounts. the 3 known mexican populations belong to the "western" group of m. aspericornis. the subtle morphological variations among the mexican populations and their isolation suggest that each could be the result of independent events of dispersion or introduction via aquaculture. this is the third confirmed report of m. aspericornis in mexico, but the first one in the atlantic side of middle america. the states of tabasco and chiapas harbour 3 of the 4 species of exotic freshwater copepods known to occur in mexico.

El copépodo dulceacuícola afro-asiático Mesocyclops aspericornis (Daday, 1906), considerado como especie exótica en América, se sabía presente de modo disperso en México, Sudamérica y en las islas del Caribe. A partir de muestras recolectadas en el estado de Veracruz, en la costa del Atlántico de México, se registraron hembras adultas de esta especie. La morfología de estos ejemplares es idéntica en la mayoría de los caracteres a la descrita o ilustrada en trabajos taxonómicos previos. Las 3 poblaciones conocidas en México pertenecen al grupo "occidental" de M. aspericornis. Las sutiles variaciones morfológicas entre las poblaciones mexicanas y su aislamiento sugieren que cada una podría ser resultado de eventos independientes por dispersión o introducción vía la acuacultura. Este es el tercer registro confirmado de M. aspericornis en México, pero el primero en Mesoamérica en el lado del Atlántico. Los estados de Tabasco y Chiapas alojan 3 de las 4 especies de copépodos exóticos de aguas continentales que se conocen en México.

Abstract: We consider the problem of measuring the electric charge of nanoparticles immersed in a fluid electrolyte. We develop a mathematical framework based on the solution of the nonlinear Poisson-Boltzmann equation to obtain interaction forces between nanoparticles immersed in a fluid electrolyte and an Atomic Force Microscopy micro spherical probe. This force-separation information is shown explicitly to depend on the charge of the nanoparticle.? This method overcomes the statistical nature of extant methods and renders a charge value for an individual single nanoparticle.

Abstract: Synthesis of multilayer graphene on copper wires by a chemical vapor deposition method is reported. After copper etching, the multilayer tube collapses forming stripes of graphitic films, their electrical conductance as a function of temperature indicate a semiconductor-like behavior. Using the multilayer graphene stripes, a cross junction is built and owing to its electrical behavior we propose that a tunneling process exists in the device.

Abstract: Amorphous porous carbon was synthesized by chemical vapor deposition on copper substrates. The average size of the pores is around 1.2 microns with some small pores decorating the big ones. Lamellar samples of this carbonaceous material can be separated from the copper support and may be useful as electrode due to its low electrical resistivity of the order of 0.4 Ωcm.

Abstract: the articl investigates peculiar visión of the philosopher emmanuel levinas regarding time in its articulation with death and the other (s). it shows the levinasiano commitment by deformalizing the notion of the time, analyzing the relationships that the author establishes between time and the other, time and death, between passiveness-patience and responsibility, between immemorial past, present and future. finally, the study focuses on the critical confrontation between levinas and heidegger with regard to death and time. he concludes that ?t is possible to move beyond the heideggerian position, understanding death from the perspective of the time, and not only time from death. for levinas, to be temporal means still have time, to defer death or to face it freely in the present of love-mercy, in the responsibility of one to another, and giving sense to time by seeking a more truly human world.
