“Fear” Is a Book of Fiction Mixed with Real Events  [PDF]
Freddy A. Paniagua
Open Journal of Political Science (OJPS) , 2019, DOI: 10.4236/ojps.2019.91006
Abstract: Several book reviews were published prior to the publication of “Fear: Trump in the White House” on September 11, 2018, with emphasis on “terrifying scenes” (e.g., John F, Kelly reportedly said that Trump is an “idiot”). These reviews, however, did not discuss two major problems in “Fear,” namely, the contexts (i.e., environments, locations, settings, etc.) in which dialogues in “Fear” occurred and the probability that Woodward’s “sources” were present in such contexts, as well as the probability that such “sources” remembered and then reported verbatim extensive dialogues between two or more individuals in “Fear,” because of the limited capacity of the human short-term memory. This commentary suggests that Woodward did not “fabricate” the contents of “Fear,” as claimed by some in the White House, but argues that Woodward honestly believed what his “sources” reported to him without questioning such “sources” regarding the two major problems in “Fear.”
Fuzzy classification of phantom parent groups in an animal model
Freddy Fikse
Genetics Selection Evolution , 2009, DOI: 10.1186/1297-9686-41-42
Abstract: To avoid the downside of such distinct classification, a fuzzy logic approach is suggested. A phantom parent can be assigned to several genetic groups, with proportions between zero and one that sum to one. Rules were presented for assigning coefficients to the inverse of the relationship matrix for fuzzy-classified genetic groups. This approach was illustrated with simulated data from ten generations of mass selection. Observations and pedigree records were randomly deleted. Phantom parent groups were defined on the basis of gender and generation number. In one scenario, uncertainty about generation of birth was simulated for some animals with unknown parents. In the distinct classification, one of the two possible generations of birth was randomly chosen to assign phantom parents to genetic groups for animals with simulated uncertainty, whereas the phantom parents were assigned to both possible genetic groups in the fuzzy classification.The empirical prediction error variance (PEV) was somewhat lower for fuzzy-classified genetic groups. The ranking of animals with unknown parents was more correct and less variable across replicates in comparison with distinct genetic groups. In another scenario, each phantom parent was assigned to three groups, one pertaining to its gender, and two pertaining to the first and last generation, with proportion depending on the (true) generation of birth. Due to the lower number of groups, the empirical PEV of breeding values was smaller when genetic groups were fuzzy-classified.Fuzzy-classification provides the potential to describe the genetic level of unknown parents in a more parsimonious and structured manner, and thereby increases the precision of predicted breeding values.Historically, genetic groups have been included in genetic evaluation models to account for selection not described by known genetic relationships. Introduction of animal models, which makes is possible to account for known relationships in the genetic evalua

Solubilization and partial characterization of ouabain-insensitive Na+-ATPase from basolateral plasma membranes of the intestinal epithelial cells
Romero,Freddy;
Investigación Clínica , 2009,
Abstract: it has been proposed that intestinal sodium transport is mediated by two different active mechanisms: the ouabain-sensitive na+/k+-atpase and ouabain-insensitive na+-atpase. in order to determine the optimum conditions to solubilize the membrane-bound na+-atpase of enterocyte, basolateral plasma membranes were solubilized using different amounts of octyl glucoside (o.g), tween 20, octaethylene glycol monododecyl ether (c12e8), and polyoxyethylene 9-lauryl ether (c12e9). solubilized fractions were assayed for protein concentration and atpase activity and characterized by electrophoresis analysis. optimal solubilization of na+-atpase was obtained after mixing of 1 mg of basolateral plasma membrane with 1.5 mg of c12e9. under these conditions, c12e9 solubilized over 60% membrane protein and na+- and na+/k+- atpases activities were recovered over 80% in the soluble fraction without inactivation. in addition, when 25 % glycerol and 2 mm atp were added, the solubilized na+-atpase was stable after 3 days at 4°c. the c12e9-solubilized na+-atpase presented the following kinetic characteristics: 1) is only stimulated by the na+ salt, 2) k0.5 for na+= 4.62 ± 0.06 mm, 3) is similarly stimulated by the na+ salt of different anions, 4) optimal ph= 7.0, 5) inhibited by furosemide (ic50= 0.52 ± 0.10 nm). these kinetic properties of the solubilized na+-atpase were similar to those described to the native membrane-bound enzyme. this work reports for the first time, solubilization and characterization of a fully active and stable na+-atpase from basolateral plasma membranes of enterocyte using c12e9.
Sobredentadura Parcial Removible Asociada con alteraciones de número y tama?o de los dientes.: Reporte de un caso
Angulo,Freddy;
Acta Odontológica Venezolana , 2000,
Abstract: a 55 years old male had to be restored with removable partial over denture. the clinic and de x-ray examination it was noticed that the tooth # 25 was partially erupted and # 28 was a microdoncia. it was decided to keep the tooth #25 in order to gain support, retention and stability of the prothesis.
Novas espécies de Trichomyia (Diptera, Psychodidae) da Mata Atlantica da Bahia, nordeste do Brasil
Bravo, Freddy;
Iheringia. Série Zoologia , 2002, DOI: 10.1590/S0073-47212002000300006
Abstract: six new species of trichomyia from atlantic rain forest of bahia, northeastern brazil, are described: t. itabunensis, t. onorei, t. queirozi, t. silvatica, t. sulbaianensis and t. teimosensis. the first two have palpi with four segments, similar to the other neotropical species. the other four species have palpi with three segments, similar to other species with wide world distribution.
Las macroformas textuales de los Derechos Humanos: Chile, 1973-1980
Timmermann,Freddy;
Literatura y lingüística , 2011, DOI: 10.4067/S0716-58112011000200007
Abstract: this article discusses how human rights can be interpreted as elements of discourse in the civil-military regime, between 1973 and 1980. through both critical discourse analysis and history-graphical projections, the contextual elements from the most significant documents are linked to the diverse empowerment doctrines enforced at that time. in addition, doctrinal and symbolic coherence are perceived, as well as and the character of the 'protected democracy' proposed and its direct relationship to neoliberal labor policies, and the national security doctrine within which it operates.
Posibilidades de Acción Politíca no Violenta en Sociedades Fragmentadas por Múltiples Conflictos: A Propósito del Caso Colombiano
Cante,Freddy;
Análisis Político , 2010,
Abstract: ethere are societies fragmented by multi ple conflicts, close to war of all against all, characterized by authoritative and violent social relations, with a weak state nation and the propensity of some rulers to criminality and authoritarianism, and the presence of fragmentary tyrannies (warlords, guerrilla groups, and mafia). such environment makes extremely difficult the adoption of nonviolent ways. this topic is analyzed in six sections: 1) proposal of the problem; 2) discussion on fragmentation and dissent in democracy and collective action; 3) relationshi p between non-violent political action and democracy; 4) synthesis of the colombian situation; 5) some possibilities for the non-violent action in the country, ones proving to be adequate for fighting against violent and authoritatian state and non-state actors.
