Open Journal of Medical Psychology (OJMP) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/ojmp.2013.24022
Abstract: The purpose of this study was to examine how academic stress and perceived social support influence the psychological wellbeing of Senior High School students in Ghana. Two hundred and twenty six male and female students participated. The general health questionnaire, student life-stress inventory and perceived social support from family and friends scales were used to assess psychological wellbeing, academic stress and perceived social support respectively. The results indicated that perceived social support buffered the effects of academic stress on psychological wellbeing. Girls reported higher scores on perceived social support but reported more depression. Boys reported higher academic stress and better psychological wellbeing, and these have been attributed partly to the socialisation role of gender. These results have policy implications in respect of the creation of a cordial school environment as well as encouraging a healthy interpersonal relationship between adolescents and their family and friends with the aim of reducing academic stress appraisal which is inimical to the psychological wellbeing of adolescents.

Open Journal of Preventive Medicine (OJPM) , 2016, DOI: 10.4236/ojpm.2016.62008
Abstract: Malaria is a major health problem facing many tropical countries, including Ghana. The use of modern mechanisms to study environmental factors in malaria occurrence is imperative in malaria control efforts. The aim of this research is to investigate how malaria occurrence is influenced by environmental factors and how Geographical Information Systems (GIS) can be used as a mechanism for improving malaria control in healthcare delivery in Ghana. Environmental factors, elevation, daily temperature and daily rainfall were plotted against prevalence of M and S forms of mosquitoes using ArcGIS 10.1. Prevalence of Anopheles gambiae M was the highest at elevations of 0 m to 200 m and that of S was the highest at elevations between 200 m and 500 m. Prevalence of M was the highest at temperatures between 26.1°C - 27.6°C whilst that of S was the highest at temperatures of between 24.5°C and 26.0°C. Prevalence of M was the highest at rainfall between 10 mm and 35 mm and S was the highest at rainfall between 26 mm and 36 mm and beyond. M form was positively correlated with temperature and negatively with elevation and humidity. The S form was negatively associated with temperature and positively with elevation and rainfall. GIS models can combine with environmental data to estimate vector prevalence under environmental conditions and therefore its use is recommended in Ghana.

Marín Milanés,Franklin;
ACIMED , 2006,
Abstract: a historical and theoretical approach to the figure of the information user is made. the user as the main element of an information system, as well as the importance of his correct study and understanding for an adequate design of information products and services, are approached. the information user subject is conceptualized and a historical analysis of his paradigms is made. finally, two important perspectives or theories related to the study of the users are presented.

ACIMED , 2006,
Abstract: some considerations about the necessity of using more effective languages in the organization and representation of information in the information systems in order to establish a better communication with the users and to attain a greater satisfaction are presented. some of the advantages of the new technologies are analysed. reflections about why it is so important to use new mechanisms and strategies in information organization and representation are exposed. some of the points in which the information representation should focus on in the digital environment are approached.
Modelado y simulación del sistema cardiovascular fetal
Rojas,Rubén; Moreno,Franklin;
Universidad, Ciencia y Tecnología , 2007,
Abstract: in physiological modeling, the intention is to understand the human body functions. uit this propose, pregnancy and delivery problems are approached to minimize unnecessary cesareans in women with some probabilities of acute fetal suffering (sfa). this article presents mathematical modeling of fetal cardiovascular system (scvf), simulation and validation of the scvf. results show a model composed by eight compartments. simulations were done to verify variability and reproducibility capacity of literature?s situations, resulting in a valid model to simulate the normal response of a fetus in its mother uterus. in conclusion the model is capable to reproduce pressure values of each compartment and the mean arterial pressure, allowing a simple representation of the fetal cardiovascular system being a valuable tool for sfa study.

A historical and theoretical approach to the figure of the information user is made. Abstract: People and organizations make better or get wrong as consequence of making decisions. Sometimes making decisions is just a trial and error process. Some others, decisions are good and the results profitable with a few of mistakes, most of the time because it’s considered the experience and the control of a specific field or the good intention of who makes them. Actually, all kinds of decisions bring learning. What is important is the intention, the attitude and the values considered in this process. People from different scenes face many facts and circumstances—almost always out of control—that affect the making decisions process. There is not a unique way to make decisions for all companies in many settings. The person who makes a decision should identify the problem, to solve it later using alternatives and solutions. Even though, follow all the steps it’s not easy as it seems. Looking back the conditions related to the decisions, we can mention the followings: uncertainty, risk and certainty. When people identify circumstances and facts, as well as its effects in a possible situation, they will make decisions with certainty. As long as the information decreases and it becomes ambiguous the risk becomes an important factor in the making decisions process because they are connected to probable objectives (clear) or subjective (opinion judgment or intuition). To finish, uncertainty, involves people that make a decision with no or little information about circumstances or criteria with basis Tanto los individuos como las organizaciones prosperan o fracasan como resultado de las decisiones que toman.
