Abstract: the objective this work was to evaluate the effect of protein supplements with three degradability levels (high-70%, medium-50% and low-30%) at three levels (0.5, 1.0 and 1.5 kg/day) on the ruminal ph, n-nh3 and dm, cp, ndf degradability of forage fed steers grazing brachiaria brizantha cv. maradu, during the dry season. the experiment design was a randomized complete block with three replications (grazing periods) and the supplement treatments were arranged in a factorial 3x3. ten rumen-fistuled steers with 354 kg live weight, were used. there was not effect of the protein degradability and/or level of supplementation on the ruminal ph values with variety from 6.38 to 6.91. the concentrations of n-nh3 ruminal increased as the degradability and levels of supplementation increased, and were higher one hour after feeding, and decreasing until five hours. the control showed n-nh3 concentrations within the limits considered adequate for a good microbial activity. there was no effect of the protein degradability and/or level of supplementation on the cp and ndf ruminal degradation of forage, and these values were not different from the control, where 29% cp constituted the soluble fraction and 47% was the insoluble potentially degradable, with the rate of degradation of 4.88%. ndf was 56% potentially degradable at the rate of 4.33%.

Abstract: abstract - two digestion assays were carried out, with the objective to compare digestibility of sugar cane and sugar cane plus corn nutrients, in different fecal collection days. five and four adult horses, without a defined breed and averaging 6 years of age, were utilized in assay 1 and 2, respectively. a randomized block design was used, with each horse considered as block and the days of fecal collection as treatments. in assay 1, the digestibility of sugar cane in six days of the fecal collection (days 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7) was evaluated; and in assay 2, the digestibitlity of sugar cane plus corn over five days of fecal collection ( days 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6) was estimated. there were no significance (p>0.05) between days of fecal collection to estimate digestibility of sugar cane and sugar cane plus corn nutrients. however, an increase (p<0.05) in the digestibility of the cp of the sugar cane plus corn, on the second day of collection was observed. the utilization of three to six and two to seven days of total fecal collection in digestion assays which equines, feed with a mixed diet or solely roughage, respectively, was very precise, and a standard five day, period is recomended.

Abstract: the objective this work was to evaluate the effect of protein supplements varying in ruminal degradabilities (high-75%, medium-55% and low-35%) fed at three levels (0.5, 1.0 and 1.5 kg/day) on ruminal ph, n-nh3 and ndf degradability of forage, with steers grazing brachiaria brizantha cv. marandu during rainy season. the experiment design was a randomized complete block with three replications (grazing periods) and the supplemented treatments were arranged in a factorial 3 x 3. ten rumen-fistuled crossbred steers with 463 kg live weight, were used. the nylon bag technique and grazing simulation were used to verify the forage and supplement ruminal degradation. ruminal ph and n-nh3 were determined along two consecutive days. there were no differences between the treatments (supplement source and level) on forage ndf degradability. however, there were differences for the incubation times, with the higher degradability (67.58%) at 96 hours of incubation. no difference for the ruminal ph and time x treatment interaction were observed, but there were differences for the time of sampling. the ph varied ranged from 5.7 to 7.4, with an average of 6.48. the n-nh3 values were higher for the supplements with high protein degradability. the first hours after supplementation showed the highest values of n-nh3, and the peaks of n-nh3 in the morning were higher than the peaks of the afternoon. fiber degradation was not affected by rumen n-nh3 concentrations.

Abstract: The aim of this work was to evaluate the effects of protein and supplementation in ruminal parameters behaviour (pH and NH3-N), voluntary feed intake of hay, dry mater (DM) and neutral detergent fiber (NDF) degradability of hay. There were used five crossbred steers with mean live weight of 290kg. It were fed with Coast-cross (Cynodon dactilon) ad libitum hay and submitted to five different treatments, a control group received mineral mixture and hay ad libitum and four groups with various levels of protein and energy supplementation (0.25; 0.50; 1.00 and 1.50kg DM/100kg of live weight (LW/day). The ruminal pH varied from 6.62 to 6.33. Ruminal pH decreased with the increasing level of supplementation, but the only difference occurence between the control group and concentrate group 1.5kg DM/100kg LW/day. Ruminal NH3-N varied from 4.42mg to 75.11mg in the ruminal fluid. There were differences between supplementation levels, time of ruminal fluid collected and the relation between both aspects. Also 1.50% of LW showed the highest NH3-N concentration. No influence of protein and energy supplementation levels was observed for dry mater intake, crude protein and neutral detergent fiber intakes of hay. The DM and NDF potencial (maximum) degration (57.49% and 49.44% respectively) was achieved after 96 hours incubation. The supplementation had no influence on DM and NDF hay degradation, except in the 1.5kg DM/100kg LW/day. Objetivou-se avaliar os efeitos da suplementa o proteico-energética sobre o comportamento dos parametros ruminais (pH e N-NH3), consumo voluntário de volumoso e a degradabilidade da matéria seca (MS) e da fibra em detergente neutro (FDN) do volumoso. Foram utilizados cinco novilhos mesti os com peso vivo médio inicial de 290kg, alimentados ad libitum com feno de Coast-cross (Cynodon dactylon) e submetidos a cinco tratamentos, constituídos de quatro níveis de suplementa o proteico-energética (0,25; 0,50, 1,00 e 1,50kg MS/100kg do peso vivo (PV)/dia) e um tratamento controle que recebeu somente feno e mistura mineral ad libitum. O pH ruminal variou de 6,62 a 6,33 e diminuiu com a eleva o da quantidade de suplemento, com diferen a apenas entre o tratamento controle e o que recebeu suplemento de 1,50kg MS/100kg PV/dia. O N-NH3 ruminal variou de 4,42mg a 75,11mg de N-NH3/dL de líquido ruminal, com diferen a entre os níveis de suplementa o, horários de colheita de líquido ruminal e intera o entre os níveis de suplementa o e horários de colheita. Abstract: Objetivou-se avaliar o efeito de aditivos sobre o pH e nitrogênio amoniacal (N-NH3) ruminal e o desaparecimento da matéria seca e da fibra em detergente neutro em bovinos que receberam feno e suplementados com 1,0 kg concentrado (em base seca). Foram utilizados quatro novilhos mesti os com peso vivo médio de 510 kg, providos de canula permanente no rúmen, por onde foram efetuadas as amostragens de líquido ruminal e a coleta dos sacos de náilon. Constatou-se que a suplementa o de bovinos com dietas contendo enzimas fibrolíticas e leveduras n o influenciou (P>0,05) o N-NH3 ruminal, cujos valores variaram de 17,40 a 18,89 mg/dL de líquido ruminal. No entanto, a intera o enzima e levedura (P<0,05) levou à queda de pH ruminal, porém, com valores numa faixa normal de 6,63 a 6,48. N o se observou qualquer efeito (P<0,05) da suplementa o no desaparecimento da matéria seca e da fibra em detergente neutro da forragem, sendo que os valores médios foram da ordem 47,6% e 40,71%, respectivamente. Fica evidente a necessidade de estudos mais aprofundados sobre o modo e local de a o das leveduras e enzimas para que se possa alcan ar maior consistência nos resultados em trabalhos dessa natureza. This work has evaluated additives effect on ruminal pH and ammonia nitrogen (NH3-N) and the dry matter and neutral detergent fiber disappearance in beef cattle that received hay and 1000 g of concentrate (on dry matter basis). Four crossbred steers fitted were used, with a permanent ruminal cannula by which the ruminal liquid samples and nylon bags were collected. The bovines diet supplementation with fibrolytic enzymes and yeast have not influenced (P>0.05) the ruminal NH3-N, with values from 17.40 to 18.89 mg/dL of ruminal liquid. However, the association of enzyme and yeast reduced (P<0.05) the pH value, and the decrease ranged from 6.63 to 6.48. There was no influence (P>0.05) on the disappearance of dry matter and neutral detergent fiber, after the supplementation, and average values were 47.6% and 40.71%, respectively. Actually, there is still lack of data concerning how and where the yeast and the enzymes act.

Abstract: O objetivo do presente trabalho foi determinar o efeito de suplementos concentrados com diferentes degradabilidades da proteína (alta-75%, média-55% e baixa-35%) e o efeito da quantidade dos mesmos (0,5, 1,0 e 1,5 kg de MS/dia) sobre os parametros ruminais (pH e N-NH3) e o desaparecimento da FDN da forragem em bovinos pastejando Brachiaria brizantha cv. Marandu no período das águas. Foram utilizados dez bovinos canulados no rúmen com peso médio de 463 kg num esquema fatorial 3 x 3 com três repeti es (blocos). A técnica do saco de náilon e a simula o do pastejo foram usadas para alcan ar a cinética de degrada o da FDN da forragem. Foram determinadas as concentra es N-NH3 e o pH ruminais durante dois dias, em vários horários. N o houve efeito dos suplementos, tampouco da quantidade destes sobre o desaparecimento da FDN da forragem, mas houve para os diferentes tempos de incuba o, alcan ando o potencial máximo de degrada o (67,58%) às 96 horas de incuba o. O pH ruminal variou de 5,7 a 7,4 com média de 6,48, n o havendo efeito de tratamento e nem intera o tratamento x tempo. Já para os horários de determina o houve diferen as significativas. Para o N-NH3 ruminal houve diferen a significativa entre os tratamentos, sendo as maiores concentra es observadas para aqueles que apresentavam maior degradabilidade da proteína. Os primeiros horários após a suplementa o apresentavam um maior pico de N-NH3 e os picos do período da manh foram maiores que os da tarde. As diferentes concentra es de N-NH3 ruminal n o alteraram a degrada o da fibra.
Estabilidade aeróbica de silagens de capim-elefante (Pennisetum purpureum, Schum) emurchecido e tratado com inoculante microbiano

Abstract: Para avaliar o efeito de um inoculante microbiano sobre a estabilidade aeróbica de silagens de capim-elefante (Pennisetum purpureum, Schum) pré-seco, foi conduzido um experimento na UNESP, Campus de Jaboticabal. O capim foi cortado com 96 dias de crescimento, permanecendo sob a o do sol, por aproximadamente 5 horas para o emurchecimento. Foram confeccionados silagens, em barricas plásticas de 200 L de capacidade, que receberam (CI) ou n o (SI) o inoculante no momento da ensilagem. Para o estudo da deteriora o aeróbica, na abertura dos silos (T0), cada barrica foi subdividida em três profundidades e as silagens expostas ao ar em um sistema, usado para a determina o de CO2, por 2 (T2), 4 (T4), 6 (T6) e 8 (T8) dias. A silagem da camada superficial n o apresentou diferen as no valor de pH e contagem de leveduras, em rela o à da camada intermediária, porém ambas apresentaram valores superiores à camada mais profunda. O teor de N-NH3 da camada superior foi menor que o da intermediária e profunda, que n o diferiram entre si. A intera o significativa entre inóculo e tempo de exposi o mostrou que nos primeiros tempos de aera o (T0; T2 e T4) as silagens inoculadas n o diferiram das controle em termos de pH, teor de N-NH3 e contagem de bolores, mas com avan o do tempo (T6 e T8) passaram a apresentar menor valor de pH, menor contagem de fungos e tendência a menor produ o de CO2, indicando menor velocidade de deteriora o após seis dias de exposi o aeróbica.

Abstract: This experiment was carried out to determine theeffect of enzymatic solution on bromatologic compositionand in situ degradability for neutral detergent fiber (NDF)of maize silage. The treatments were four enzymatic levels,two fermentation periods and three replications. The levelsadopted were 0, 5, 10 and 20 mg of enzyme per kg of naturalmatter (MN) of grass. Experimental silos, in triplicate, wereopened 45 and 120 days after ensiling, and DM, NDF, crudeprotein (CP), N-NH3 and pH were analyzed. In the study ofin situ degradability of DM and NDF, silage of 45 days wascollected. Nylon bag technique was used with three canulatedbovine and three incubation times (6, 24 and 96 hours). Theexperimental period was of the 36 days. The solution didn’tchange the content of DM, pH and N-NH3 values of maize silage. There was no difference on the CP amongfermentation periods of, but there was interaction betweenperiod of storage and enzymatic level. The solution increasedfinal CP of maize silage after 45 days of ensiling and thiseffect was higher to 20 mg (10.14%) compared the control(8.77%). In case of NDF, maize silage treated with 10 mglevel showed lower fiber content (47.25%) versus untreatedcontrol (49.96%), suggesting an improvement in the nutritivevalue. There was no difference among period of storageneither interaction period of storage and enzymatic level.In situ rumen degradation showed no difference among thetreatments on NDF degradation of maize silage. Objetivou-se avaliar o efeito de níveis de enzimasfibrolíticas sobre a composi o bromatológica e adegradabilidade ruminal da fibra em detergente neutro(FDN) da silagem de milho. O experimento consistiu dequatro níveis enzimáticos, dois períodos de armazenamentoe três repeti es. Aplicaram-se, por aspers o, na ensilagem,os níveis enzimáticos de 0, 5, 10 e 20 mg de enzimas por kgde matéria natural (MN). Abstract: Este trabalho foi desenvolvido para determinar o efeito de níveis de enzimas fibrolíticas sobre a composi o bromatológica e a degradabilidade ruminal da MS e da FDN das silagens de capim-braquiária e de capim-tanzania. O experimento consistiu de quatro níveis enzimáticos (0, 5, 10e 20 mg de enzimas por kg de matéria natural) e dois períodos de armazenamento (45 e 120 dias) e três repeti es. Após o armazenamento, os silos experimentais foram abertos para avalia o dos teores da MS, da PB, da FDN, do N-NH3/NT e do pH. Utilizou-se a técnica do saco de náilon,com três bovinos canulados no rúmen, horários de incuba o de 6, 24 e 96 horas e amostras do período de 45 dias de ensilagem. Verificou-se que as solu es enzimáticas n o alteraram o teor de MS, PB, N-NH3/NT e pH das silagens de capins. Para o capim-braquiária, a solu o enzimática alterou o teor da FDN, mas foi dependente do nível de enzimas.Verificou-se redu o da FDN para o nível de 20 mg (67,99%) em rela o ao tratamento-testemunha (70,28%). N o houve diferen a entre os períodos de armazenamento nem intera o entre período de armazenamento e nível enzimático. Para os parametros de degrada o ruminal da MS e da FDN das silagens de capins n o foram observadas diferen as entre os tratamentos. Abstract: an experiment was carried out at unesp, jaboticabal campus to evaluate the effect of a microbial inoculant on aerobic stability of wilted grass silage (pennisetum purpureum, schum). the grass was cut with 96 days of growing, remaining under sun action 5 hours to wilt. silages were made in plastic silos, 0.2m3 capacity, that received (ci) or not (si) inoculant at the ensilage time. for the study of aerobic deterioration, each silo was subdivided in three levels and the silages were exposed in a system, used to evaluate co2 production, for 2 (t2), 4(t4), 6(t6) and 8(t8) days. surface silage had higher ph value, lower nh3-n content, and higher yeast count than middle and bottom silages. the significant interaction between inoculation and aeration stage, shown that at earlier stages (t0, t2 and t4) there was no difference between treated and control silages in ph, n-nh3 and mold count, but at later stages (t6 and t8), inoculated stages had lower ph value, mold count and tended to a lower co2 production, showing a lower deterioration speed after 6 days of aerobic exposure.
