Manufacturing Cells Formation Based on Graph Coloring  [PDF]
José Francisco Ferreira Ribeiro
Journal of Service Science and Management (JSSM) , 2010, DOI: 10.4236/jssm.2010.34056
Abstract: A method for cellular manufacturing design in Group Technology is presented in this paper. The proposed method computes the dissimilarities between parts and organizes the production system in part-families and group-machines. A graph corresponding to the production system is generated and a coloring algorithm is activated in order to obtain a number of cells equal to the desired number of cells. The corresponding program was written in Matlab language and runs on a microcomputer. The results obtained on several examples found in the literature are consistently equivalent to or even better than those hitherto proposed, in terms of inter-cell moves and dimensions of the cells.
Electron Confinement Effect of Laser Dyes within Dendritic Structures  [PDF]
Francisco Márquez, María José Sabater
Journal of Encapsulation and Adsorption Sciences (JEAS) , 2011, DOI: 10.4236/jeas.2011.11001
Abstract: Dendrimers are a novel class of nanometric-size macromolecules with a regular tree-dimensional like array of branch units.1,2 Their synthetic availability in a wide range of sizes combined with their peculiar architecture makes them versatile building blocks for a wide range of potential applications.3 Some years ago, Meijer and co-workers reported that the modification of terminal amine functionalities of a fifth generation poly(propyleneimine) dendrimer (DAB-dendr-(NH2)64) with bulky substituents, (typically N-t-BOC protected phenylalanine), results in the formation of the so-called “dendritic box” (DAB-dendr-(NH-t-BOC-L-Phe)64).4 Within this macromolecular structure it is possible to encapsulate a variety of guest molecules due to the existence of internal cavities in the core. The photophysical properties of the guests can be modulated by the innovative electron confinement effect. In this respect, we wish to report that the emission frequency of organic dyes can be easily modulated by encapsulation in a dendritic box. The emission bands of dye molecules incorporated into a dendrimer can effectively be red shifted with respect to their emission in solution and contrary to other confined spaces of considerable hardness, the magnitude of this shifting can be regulated under appropriate experimental conditions. This peculiar effect could have unprecedented applications in the development of supramolecular devices relating to the frequency tuning of organic laser dyes.
Pesticides Exposure: The Case of Workers on Growing Grapes in San Francisco Valley, Petrolina/Brazil  [PDF]
Francisco Alves Pinheiro, Paulo José Adissi
Agricultural Sciences (AS) , 2014, DOI: 10.4236/as.2014.510085
Abstract:

The objective of this work is to analyze the systems of application of pesticides used in harvesting grapes of the sub-medium San Francisco valley, in relation to the risks of occupational contamination. The manual, mechanized and semi mechanized systems of application, adopted by the grape growers of the city of Petrolina/PE, have been analyzed through a method of both quantitative and qualitative evaluation. In such a way, two production units were visited: a mid-sized company and another one from of the CODEVASF. Five simulations were carried out in four systems of pesticide application using the European entire body method. Pre-application processes, such as storage and dilution of pesticides, as well as post-application processes, including equipment maintenance, cleaning and storage of clothes used for the application process were also analyzed. The results show large differences in risk among the systems that were analyzed and better conditions offered by the agricultural company, which was seeking to obtain the certification process.

Uma proposta metodológica para a forma??o continuada de professores na perspectiva histórico-social
Mazzeu, Francisco José Carvalho;
Cadernos CEDES , 1998, DOI: 10.1590/S0101-32621998000100006
Abstract: this article aims at presenting a proposal for teaching teachers based on the historical-critical pedagogy. it presents three basic aspects: knowledge of the school curriculum and methods of teaching; knowledge of dialectic; construction of a new ethical-political attitude. the proposal is based on the five steps as suggested by saviani: social practice; problem setting; acquisition of the contents as instruments of action; catharsis and social practice.
Melhoria do desempenho cognitivo dos alunos do ensino fundamental
Soares, José Francisco;
Cadernos de Pesquisa , 2007, DOI: 10.1590/S0100-15742007000100007
Abstract: this paper introduces a conceptual model which relates intra and extra school factors to elementary school students' achievement. using this model as reference, the main evidences from the literature on how to improve student's achievement were reviewed. however, it should be noted that several of the results published in the international literature haven't been replicated with data collected in brazil. the best brazilian data to study these questions are those from brazilian system for evaluation of basic education - saeb. considering the low level attained today by the brazilian students, there are several actions, which can be taken at the school level that, if applied, will impact positively on the student's achievement. at this point in time, it is strategic to emphasize school policies, considering, however, that they only will be viable with the implementation of school autonomy, idea already present in law, but not completely put into practice.
Avalia??o da macera??o dinamica do milho após um curto período de hidrata??o e subseqüente quebra do pericarpo do gr?o
LOPES FILHO, José Francisco;
Ciência e Tecnologia de Alimentos , 1999, DOI: 10.1590/S0101-20611999000300005
Abstract: the dynamic steeping of craked corn grains was compared against the conventional steeping process of the wet milling for starch and subproducts production. corn fractions yields (germ, fiber, starch and gluten) were obtained after wet milling in the laboratotry using both steeping thechniques, with and without lactic acid, in the sulfur dioxide (so2) solution and steeping in water without these components. the steeping in water resulted in lower starch yields than that obtained by the others two, which was expected, and a higher fiber production. this show that so2 and lactic acid are necessary to the process. the dynamic steeping technique produced more starch than the conventional process in a period reduced from 24-36 hours up to 5 hours. these results indicate that the new process is suitable and confirms that the long time needed for the traditional method is mainly due to the so2 diffusional limitations.
?Son los obreros idiotas e irracionales?
León, Francisco José;
Convergencia , 2010,
Abstract: in this paper we present a critical analysis of the postmodern and poststructuralist approach to the question of workers' subjectivity. our examination shows that; a) some of their explicative propositions are internally contradictory or logically inconsistent; b) on other occasions, a contradiction is produced between different propositions that are supposed to explain the same phenomena; c) there are frequent contradictions between the explicative propositions and the theoretical principles from which they are derived; d) the lack of intelligibility of the propositions is common, e) there are abundant "black holes" in the chains of events that are presented as previous to the production of the effect they attempt to explain; and f) many of their propositions are either not empirically plausible, or not empirically testable. we believe these deficiencies are responsible for the failure of these postmodern authors in their attempt to recover workers' agency in labor process studies.
Regulación social de la transitoriedad. El mercado de trabajo en la producción de uvas en Mendoza, Argentina
Fabio,José Francisco;
Cuadernos de Desarrollo Rural , 2010,
Abstract: the present article analyzes the way the labor market is built for vine-growing production in uco valley, province of mendoza, argentina. from the point of view of the social regulation of labor markets, this article thoroughly studies the comprehension of this market performance based on the inclusion of "social" dimensions underestimated in more traditional explanations about the topic, which are centered on technical-productive aspects. in this line of thought, the way the normative regulation in effect in the territory, the modalities and performance undertaken by labor intermediation agents, and the region entrepreneurs contractual strategies turn out to be central aspects in the construction of transience traits. such findings are founded on a highly qualitative approach strategy based on semi-structured interviews with the main actors of the above mentioned labor markets entrepreneurs, workers, intermediaries, and government officials carried out from 2005 to 2009.
